Friday Ratings: Weak Return for Dollhouse
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, Medium, Ratings,
Attention Dollhouse producers - get Summer Glau on quick! Had I not known that Dollhouse premiered last Friday, I would have assumed by the program’s numbers that it was still in repeats. Unfortunately, the Joss Whedon-created series made its return with the lowest demos for any original that evening. (It’s lead-in - Brothers—didn’t fare much better.) To make matters worse, the FOX drama also pulled in smaller numbers than several repeats.
8pm
- Ghost Whisperer (8.6 million, 2.2/8 in 18-49) was down 700,000 from last fall.
- Law & Order (1.3/5) kicked off its 20th season with 6.3 million.
- A FlashForward* repeat (1.5/5) had 4.6 million blacking out.
- Brothers (1.0/4) kept 2.8 million amused.
- Smallville (1.0/4) debuted to 2.5 million.

Friday Ratings: NBC Makes a Week End Mark
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Games, Kids, Music, Sci-Fi/Horror, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Medium, Ratings,
Up until now, CBS has traditionally dominated Friday nights with its Ghost Whisperer/Numb3rs combo. But could Jay Leno potentially change that? Although we’re still a week away from finding out, the program got off to a nice start this weekend. Primetime’s new 10:00 show helped give NBC a win in both the viewers and the demos.
8pm
- Dateline NBC (2.0/7 in 18-49) averaged 7.4 million over two hours.
- Approximately 5 million watched the finale of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (1.0/4).
- Ghost Whisperer* (1.1/4) pulled in 4.6 million.
- The 2009 Alma Awards (0.6/2) attracted 2.2 million.
- Smallville* (0.6/2) dialed up 1.6 million.

Modern Family: The ABC comedy hasn’t even premiered yet, but it’s already attracted an Oscar nominee. Edward Norton will cameo in one episode during sweeps.
