In what can only be described as the epitome of a teaser trailer, BBC has released the first for Doctor Who's eighth season - blink and you literally miss it (although you're not blinking anyway because of all the Weeping Angels abound, right?).
Although fans barely see anything in the "trailer," we are at least promised an air date sometime this August!

Laura Carmichael: Lady Edith Is Carrie Bradshaw
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, BBC, Features,
Downton Abbey's Laura Carmichael thinks her character is the Carrie Bradshaw of the 1920s.
The actress, who plays Lady Edith Crawley in the period drama, imagines her to be like Sarah Jessica Parker's Sex And The City alter ego, because she writes a column for a newspaper about women's issues, despite it not being mentioned often in the show.
"I do love to think of her in my head as Carrie Bradshaw of the 20s. She's got a column on being a modern woman. Probably far less racy," she said.
Although Edith's work isn't mentioned much on the show, it is important to Laura that it remains a part of the character. "Her writing was still going on this season, and I kept checking with the producers to make sure of it. She would submit an article monthly to the newspaper, and it would have been this casual column. It was pretty common of women of her status," she explained.

+ Not surprisingly, Lindsay Lohan hasn't made things easy for her latest project - a reality show set to air on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network. When asked about the progress of the show, the famed TV mogul said that "there have been bumps" with filming.
+ With the disappointing series finale of Dexter, fans of the crime thriller will be pleased to know that Showtime president David Nevins is - despite some reluctance - hinting at a spin-off starring Michael C. Hall, who portrayed the eponymous anti-hero.
+ AMC released a new trailer for the second half of The Walking Dead that wasn't too much of a teaser, considering that everything in TWD world looked more or less the same as it did in the mid-season finale.
+ Funny lady Melissa McCarthy is set to host Saturday Night Live for the third time during Super Bowl weekend with Imagine Dragons appearing as the musical guest.

Although the world first met the 13th Doctor, Peter Capaldi, in last year's Doctor Who Christmas special, the BBC has offered fans more of a glimpse of him (clearly to appease us for the long-awaited season premiere of the sci-fi series).
Holding his script next to Jenna Coleman - who plays the Doctor's current companion, Clara Oswald, in the show - Capaldi is seen wearing the same outfit from the cliffhanger of the Christmas special (the very one the Twelfth Doctor, Matt Smith, regenerated in).

Will.i.am persuaded Kylie Minogue to sign up as a judge on The Voice.
The Black Eyed Peas star interrupted a meeting between BBC bosses and the "Spinning Around" hit-maker in a bid to convince the Australian pop singer to accept a role on the panel alongside fellow judges Tom Jones and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. "I was considering it and I didn't I know what the answer was. Then I had a meeting in LA and Will.i.am bombed the meeting. I had just one question to Will - how was the experience? He said he loved it, so I thought, 'OK, that's cool,'" Kylie recalled.

VIDEO: Watch the ‘Sherlock’ Prequel to Season 3
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Drama, Prime Time, BBC, Internet, Video,
The BBC has extended a nice holiday gift to Sherlock fans, by way of releasing a mini-episode prequel to the show's third season.
Simply titled "Many Happy Returns," the 7-minute video - penned by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat - sees Inspector Lestrade listening to a convincing theory that Sherlock Holmes is still alive and solving cases two years after his supposed death. Although Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't get much face time save for a previously recorded video played at the end of the clip, we do get to see plenty of Martin Freeman (Dr. John Watson)! Enjoy your British TV Christmas gift - hopefully it'll hold you over until the show returns to PBS on January 19th!

Mike Tyson Wants to Be on ‘Downton Abbey’
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Drama, Prime Time, BBC, Gossip,
Mike Tyson wants a role on Downton Abbey.
The boxing legend wants to take on more acting roles since his retirement from the sport, and would love Julian Fellowes to write him a part in the British period drama set in the early 20th century. When asked whether he wanted to act more, Mike said, "I would. I'm coming to the West End soon for my one-man show, so maybe when I fly to the UK they'll give me a part on Downtown Abbey [sic]. I like that show. I'm sure they could give me a part."
The former world heavyweight champion found it tough reminiscing about the past for his new memoir, Undisputed Truth, and claims his childhood was harder to bear than the "good days" he spent in jail in the 90s in the intimate company of his female counselor. "There were some horrific things [in my childhood] that I did not enjoy. Jail was a lot easier ... I had a female counselor and we'd do it for a long time. I had some good days in there," Mike quipped.
