Mia Michaels Replaces Mary Murphy as SYTYCD Judge
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, News,
UPDATE: Adam Shankman tweeted this message to fans last night: “SYTYCD tweet: mary’ll b around, and mia can do group #s! All well. Thx to everyone for caring. It’s best of all worlds. Xxox”
Attention passengers - your ride aboard the “hot tamale train” is about to come to an end.
It was announced today that even more changes will be coming for the seventh season of So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel Lythgoe has already revealed the veterans that will be assisting the shortened list of competitors this summer. Now, he’s making a switch at the judges’ table.
Although we already knew that Mia Michaels would be returning to the program, we were only lead to believe that she would be contributing on an occasional basis like she has in the past. Well, it turns out Michaels will actually be replacing screamer Mary Murphy - permanently.

VIDEO: So You Think You Can Dance Veterans Revealed
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, Gossip, News,
As we mentioned earlier, next month’s return of So You Think You Can Dance will come with a number of surprises - including a dozen big ones.
Although the contestants will be whittled down to a final list of 10, they will be paired Dancing with the Stars-style with 12 familiar faces - dancers from SYTYCD‘s past.
Like the ABC program, the veterans will not be the ones facing the judges’ scrutiny - just the newbies. The smaller pool will also mean one elimination per week.
Want to know which of your faves will be hitting the stage come May 27? Check out the names after the jump.

Changes Announced for So You Think You Can Dance
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, Gossip, News,
UPDATE: Lythgoe has already announced two of the veterans returning via his Twitter account: Season 4’s Twitch and Season 6’s Kathryn.
For So You Think You Can Dance‘s seventh season, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe announced a series of changes that will supposedly freshen up the show a bit…and make it more like Dancing with the Stars?
When the show returns this May, we will no longer be seeing 20 finalists competing for the dance title. The audition process will now whittle the pool down to just 10 names—five men and five women. So does this mean the series will now end a few weeks earlier than usual? No - because we will now only see 1 person eliminated a week.
Like the six previous seasons, the dancers will still perform with another person—just not a fellow competitor. The contestants will now be paired with rotating “All-Star Partners” from SYTYCD‘s past. (Those returning to the series will be revealed in the weeks to come.) Those veterans, like the ones on that ABC program, will not be the focus of the judges from —just the finalists.

Quote of the Day: Nigel Lythgoe No Longer Wants Paula Abdul’s Help
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, Gossip,
“No. I spent an entire season wooing her and if she was ever going to do it, she would have. The timing was perfect for her and I was rather shocked she didn’t pick up and join us at any point. I mean, Katie Holmes was there, Jennifer Lopez was there. I know we don’t have Idol money and so does Paula, but at the end of the day I do plenty of things for no money because I want to support dance. And as an dancer/performer/choreographer, I would have thought she’d like to support us.”
-Former American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe claiming he won’t continue pursuing Paula Abdul for So You Think You Can Dance.

Mia Michaels Returns to So You Think You Can Dance
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, Gossip,
Well, that didn’t take very long.
Mia Michaels, who announced her departure from So You Think You Can Dance just over three months ago, made a brief (?) return to the show on Tuesday.
The choreographer and occasional judge sat alongside Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman when the auditions hit New York City. It’s not known whether Michaels - who left the program to focus on other projects - will have other appearances during Season 7.
Did Shane Sparks’ legal troubles simply leave a void at the judges table?

Is Dance Over for SYTYCD tour?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance,
Did you think summer and fall editions of So You Think You Dance were maybe just a bit too much? Turns out you weren’t the only one.
According to E! Online, it’s possible the normal post-series tour may not happen for the Season 6 contestants. FOX’s desire to crank out another installment so quickly after Season 5 has resulted in poor timing all around.
“It has been a very unique year for So You Think You Can Dance with seasons five and six airing back-to-back and season seven auditions starting in January,” a show rep stated. “Each season we strive to deliver a stellar tour for the fans and are still open to touring opportunities with the season-six dancers in the future, but nothing has been set at this time.”
