VIDEO: Sesame Street Parodies True Blood
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Drama, Kids, Sci-Fi/Horror, HBO, PBS, Video,
Although True Blood is set in Louisiana and Mad Men is set in New York, the two shows do have one locale in common: Sesame Street.
Last year, the famous PBS series parodied the advertising execs from Madison Avenue in an emotional sketch. Now, the
grouches of Bon Temps will get their turn in the spotlight in a segment titled “True Mud.” (Make sure to keep an eye out for Lafayette!)
Season 41 of Sesame Street will kick off on September 27.

Obama Addresses the Nation: The State of Our Union
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Specials, ABC, Cable, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, Video,
President Obama took over TV on Wednesday night to deliver his first State of the Union address, wisely scheduling his speech to occur after American Idol (which has a higher approval rating). As Vice President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi arranged themselves in their special seats, First Lady Michelle Obama stood poised with a large contingent of service professionals who were on hand to hear the speech. It was business as usual, but there was no hiding the charged atmosphere. Barack Obama’s first State of the Union has been a long-anticipated event…as is the change the country had hoped to see.
The President entered the room to a smattering of applause, smiling as he shook hands on his way up the aisle. Once he was finally in position, he handed copies of the speech to the other two highest-ranking political figures in our land - a speech which is also obtainable online as a matter of public record. Keep reading to get all the highlights.

2010 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations (TV)
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, Cable, CBS, FX, FOX, HBO, NBC, PBS, Showtime, TNT-HD, 30 Rock, House, Medium, The Office, News,
Squeezed in between the Golden Globes broadcast and the Oscar nominations is an awards ceremony voted on solely by the actors. (So unlike the People’s Choice Awards, this actually has meaning.)
For the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, we’ll see a lot of the old and just a little bit of the new. Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- The Closer, Dexter and 30 Rock lead this year’s pack with three nominations each.
- Despite no individual mentions, freshman comedies Modern Family and Glee were both honored in the Best Ensemble category.
- Samantha Who‘s Christina Applegate received a nomination despite starring in a canceled show.
- True Blood received its first nom—but just for its cast, not for any single actor.
The SAG Awards will air Saturday, Jan. 23 on both TNT and TBS.
(You can find the full list of TV nominees after the jump. Click here for the film nominations.)

60s-Era Sesame Street Episodes Not Meant for Kids
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Kids, PBS, DVD, Gossip,
In celebration of forty years of Sesame Street, some of the early-season episodes are being released on DVD - just don’t show them to your kids. A disclaimer on the packaging explains: “These early Sesame Street episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”
But don’t get it wrong - from the very beginning, Sesame Street was designed just for kids. So, what gives?
