What are President Obama’s Favorite Shows?

Could President Obama’s secret love of HBO have anything to do with the channel’s inaugural coverage?
Thanks to his highly-publicized selections before the NCAA tournament, the country already knows that our POTUS likes to watch a little basketball. But what other programs does he like to follow when he has some free time?
Although he referenced Simon Cowell during his recent appearance on Jay Leno, American Idol apparently doesn’t rank at the top of Obama’s must watch list. According to Politico, the President has a preference for two shows coincidentally on the same pay channel.
“We would talk about Entourage all the time,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs revealed. “I remember one time I e-mailed him because [a] call was scheduled for the last 15 minutes of Entourage and I said, ‘Just be late and we can just watch Entourage and still get on and do the call,’” Gibbs added. (On a side note: Jeremy Piven’s character is based on Ari Emanuel, the Chief of Staff’s real-life brother.)

- Chuck (NBC, 8pm): “Chuck’s lfe takes fortunate turns: Not only does his long-estranged father return, but Chuck scores a coveted job with Ted Roark (Chevy Chase), a heroic figure in his life.” The guy who got Christie Brinkley to jump naked into a pool is a hero to many.
- Surviving Suburbia (ABC, 9:30pm): “Cynical dad (Bob Saget) accidentally starts a fire in his neighbor’s home after he reluctantly agrees to house-sit.” That’s one way to make sure he won’t be asked again.

Sunday Ratings: Family Guy Beams Up the Numbers

FOX might not have been last night’s winning network (that title belongs to CBS), but it wasn’t due to lack of trying. Yesterday’s Family Guy episode drew a fair number of Trekkies and the best demos of the evening.
8pm
- 60 Minutes/The Amazing Race combined efforts for 13 million (3.8/10 in 18-49).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.8 million, 3.6/9) was up 1 million.
- The Simpsons (6.6 million, 3.1/9) improved by 400,000.
- Kings (4.4 million, 1.3/3) lost another 200,000.

- Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9pm): “Charlie blows off steam by sharing a drunken night with Alan, Herb and his neighbor after Chelsea discovers nude photos of another woman on his cell phone.” Kinda makes you wonder what Denise Richards has on her ex.
- Rules of Engagement (CW, 9:30pm): “Jeff and Audrey lie to get out of Jennifer and Adam’s dinner party in favor of a better bash.” Fondue parties are so 5 years ago.
- CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm): “Ryan is kidnapped and forced to betray Horatio and the team.” Cue Horatio lowering glasses in disappointment.

Star Trek: The Next Generation Visits Family Guy

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, FOX, Family Guy, Video,
If you had the power to get any celebrity into your home, who would you choose?
In this weekend’s episode of Family Guy, Stewie Griffin will do what many Trekkies can only dream about: Spend quality time with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. (Unfortunately, the actors weren’t exactly willing participants; he built a transporter and had them beamed into his room.)
Look for Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Wil Wheaton and the rest of the crew to visit Quahog this Sunday @ 9:00.

Sunday Ratings: Weekend Ends with a CBS Win

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, Amazing Race, The, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, Ratings,
Couple a basketball tournament overrun with a President Obama interview and what do you get? A nice way to start the evening for CBS. Despite hot competition from Desperate Housewives, the Eye network won both the viewers and the demos last night.
8pm
- Approximately 16.2 million watched the POTUS interview on 60 Minutes (4.1/11 in 18-49).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9.8 million, 3.1/8) raised 300,000.
- The Simpsons (6.2 million, 3.0/8) and King of the Hill (5.5 million, 2.6/7) were both up slightly.
- Kings (4.6 million, 1.3/3) dropped 1.4 million.
- CW’s airing of The Mod Squad (0.3/1) attracted 866,000.

MONDAY (3/23)
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm): “Amy gives birth to her son and has a difficult time adjusting to life as a mom.” Unfortunately for her, society is no longer interested in single mothers of one child.
- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): “Lily and Rufus make lists of their past lovers.” I think even Gossip Girl would qualify that as TMI.
- Animal Cops: Phoenix (Animal, 10pm): “A skunk gets trapped in an elevator shaft.” Well that stinks.
- Table for 12 (TLC, 10pm): Series premiere. “Betty Hayes, mother of three sets of multiples (twins, twins, sextuplets), is sent to the spa on her birthday, while the rest of the family plans a special celebration at home.” Great. More stuff for her to clean up later.
