Futurama No Longer a Cartoon of the Past

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, FOX, Gossip, Video,
Following in Family Guy’s footsteps, Comedy Central will reprise a FOX cartoon that was canceled - six years ago!
Futurama, created by Matt Groening and dropped off the FOX prime time schedule in 2003 after four seasons, will have another day in the sun…er, space. The comedy, set in 2999, has sparked high DVD sales and plenty of syndication attention.
Enough, apparently, to warrant another run. The cable network has ordered twenty-six new episodes of the animated comedy, which are expected to air in 2010.
It’s not the first time FOX has made a mistake. Family Guy was can canceled by the network, but returned after three years of great success on the Cartoon Network.

Wednesday Ratings: ABC Spared a Wipeout

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Specials, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance, Ratings,
Thank goodness for Wipeout. The Season 2 premiere of summer’s guilty pleasure saved ABC from a completely dismal evening. Even though the reality competition bested SYTYCD in the 8:00 demos, FOX was still the overall winner with the 18-49s. Meanwhile, CBS was first place with the viewers.
8pm
- The George Strait concert special (10.6 million, 2.2/6 in 18-49) drew in the night’s biggest audience for CBS.
- Wipeout (3.2/10) challenged 8.64 million.
- So You Think You Can Dance (3.5/10) averaged 8.58 million over two hours.
- Law & Order: Criminal Intent (5.1 million, 1.1/3) was up a tick.
- America’s Next Top Model* (0.5/2) registered 1.2 million.
