Randomly Commenting About: Miley Cyrus’ Cancer Event Performance

Even though I really like the single (and loved the cause for which it was written), there was one musician who really stuck out during Friday night’s event: Miley Cyrus.

The song - which is available for purchase on iTunes - was performed live this weekend from New York’s Radio City Music Hall. And while “Just Stand Up” earned a nice reception, I couldn’t help but notice how Miley Cyrus’ immature voice stuck out like a grating sore thumb. Did she really deserve to be up on the same stage as Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, and Carrie Underwood? Ehh, I think not.

Let the Arguments Begin: Debate Schedule Released

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Specials, CBS, PBS, Features,

John McCain and Barack Obama

Both sides have met, looked over their schedules, and finally come to a conclusion. That’s right, America’s two greatest political parties have at long last worked together to reach a decision: after weeks and weeks, they’ve finally agreed to a schedule for the Presidential and Vice Presidential debates.

The interrogation begins in September. The 26th of the month, to be precise, the first Presidential debate will take place in Oxford, Mississippi at the University of Mississippi. You can view the arguments on PBS, as the event will be moderated by Jim Lehrer (The NewsHour). The time is scheduled for talk on foreign policy and national security, i.e. the war in Iraq.

October 2 will see the Vice Presidential debates, which I fully expect will score record this year. This takes place in St. Louis, Missouri at Washington University and can also be viewed on PBS. The moderator is Gwen Ifill, also of The NewsHour.

Edwards’ appearance in a series of flashbacks will help provide “insight into Dr. Banfield’s past.” Dr. Cate Banfield is the new character being played by Oscar-nominee Angela Bassett. The Nov. 13 episode, titled “Heal Thyself.” will also feature other actors from the series’ past.

Michael Phelps to Host SNL

Michael PhelpsSo you win 8 gold medals and help NBC score phenomenal ratings—what do you do next? Go to Disneyland? Well, that’s entirely possible. But Michael Phelps still has one more challenge he needs to tackle: hosting Saturday Night Live.

To thank the swimmer for all that he has done for

them

our country, the Peacock network has given the It Boy the chance to kick off its 34th season. (I mean - if you’re going to milk a cash cow…you gotta do it while it’s still fresh, right?)

Surprisingly, despite all his hours on camera, this gig will actually mark Michael’s acting debut. It’ll also probably be the first time he’s ever seen fully-clothed. (That is, of course, assuming the producers allow him to be clothed.)

The season premiere of - featuring Michael Phelps and musician Lil Wayne - debuts on September 13.

dimples over to another network. Cibrian, who was only scheduled to appear in four Betty episodes this season, has now lined up a short arc on USA’s .

So what will Coach Tony Diaz’s eventual departure mean for Hilda? Well, if she’s half as devastated as I am—it’ll probably mean lots of nights spent with Ben & Jerry.

Role Refill Ordered for My Own Worst Enemy

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, News,

Madchen AmickIs officially making a comeback? After a string of parts on various shows, the actress has nabbed two high profile television roles this year.

Amick, best known for her years on Twin Peaks, already has a juicy stint coming up on Gossip Girl. Now, she’s just been asked to do a last-minute replacement on My Own Worst Enemy.

Even though the show is scheduled to premiere in just a few months, it’s already had to deal with a few untimely changes. Recently, the show’s creator was pushed further into the background while one of the co-producers was promoted to executive producer/showrunner status. Now, the freshman series is having to rebuild itself around a new actress.

Originally, Yara Martinez (The Unit) was scheduled to star opposite . Amick will now assume the role of the unsuspecting wife. (Slater plays a man with two personalities; one’s a regular joe, the other’s a spy.)

Are these changes symbolic of a troubled season to come? We’ll find out when Enemy premieres on October 13.

NBC Lines Up Another Celeb-Reality Show

NBC trying its hardest to find that special celeb-realityBecause we can apparently never have enough celebrity reality shows, NBC is currently developing yet another one.

Realizing that perhaps the very out there circus atmosphere was not their forté, producers have opted to focus on resorting to what they do best: partying!

Well, okay, maybe not the Paris Hilton kind of party, but the more formal kind. A typical episode for Celebrity Come Dine With Me will feature one celebrity who hosts a dinner party for his or her famous friends. At the end of the night, the party will be judged on presentation, food, and entertainment value.

Sounds kind of lame to you, too, right? I mean, I love watching celebrities, but watching them eat and be entertained doesn’t interest me all too much. I say that knowing that the show has found “success” in 16 other countries.
