An End for The Two Coreys

Sooner or later, all train wrecks must come to an end.
According to the the co-producer of The Two Coreys, the show’s second season will be the last for the A&E program. Haim’s documented relapse - coupled with the duo’s ongoing issues - make it difficult for the series to proceed.
It’s also hard to produce a show when the stars aren’t even speaking to each other. In the recent issue of People, we learn that the Lost Boys actors won’t even appear in the same photo together anymore.

Russell Brand to Host MTV’s Video Music Awards

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Award Shows, Late Night, Music, Prime Time, MTV, NBC, News, Video,
If you couldn’t stomach the thought of seeing Jason Segel’s privates, you probably missed one of Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘s great cast additions. Fortunately for you, that scene stealer will soon be storming American television.
Although he is barely known on this side of the water, British comedian Russell Brand (Marshall‘s Aldous Snow) has been chosen by the MTV to host the Video Music Awards this September. Brand, who has a bit of a reputation of being a bad boy, was apparently chosen after execs saw him performing his stand-up routine in LA.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time Brand has been associated with the network. Russell acknowledges that he was fired from his job as a VJ in London when he came to work dressed as Osama Bin Laden…on Sept. 12, 2001.
So what can viewers expect from the wild-haired comic? If his recent appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien show was any indication, it is going to be the funniest broadcast yet. (You can see that clip after the jump.)

Remembering Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: ABC, Oprah Winfrey Show, Video,
While most may may know Randy Pausch for his extremely popular YouTube lecture, the Carnegie Mellon professor was a household name to many television viewers as well. Since delivering his September 2007 speech (‘Achieving Your Childhood Dreams’), Pausch, who had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, had also shared his uplifting messages on Oprah and an ABC special.
Today, the father of three died at his Virginia home. He was 47.
Those who haven’t haven’t already heard his ‘Last Lecture’ (or read his book), can listen to hilarious tales below:
Interestingly enough, Pausch, who expressed his love of Star Trek, was given a speaking cameo in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming movie. (The film will be released on May 8, 2009.) Until then, Randy will also be the focus of another ABC special airing next Tuesday @ 10:00.

Omarosa Wreaks Daytime Havoc

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Daytime, Reality, FOX, Gossip, Video,
Omarosa gained attention on the The Apprentice for her uncompromising ways. Now, the reality TV star has put her own philosophy into a new book called The Bitch Switch. The book hits shelves in October, but Omarosa’s promotion of the piece has already begun…explosively.
The vixen appeared recently on The Wendy Williams Show, but instead of talking about the book the two ended up exchanging insults. “I wanted to throw her off the set,” Williams admitted after the incident to reporters.
It began right away with Omarosa’s introduction, which she said she did not like and announced she would not be “disrespected.” Williams took the book to show it off to cameras, but Omarosa quickly snatch the tome out of her hands. “Omarosa wished her career was my career,” Williams went on to reporters after the interview. “Omarosa is a delusional, D-list, pathetic woman.” Me-ow.

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Elisabeth Hasselbeck Cry

Regardless of whether you agree with the topic at hand, it’s always a great day on The View when a co-host ends up crying. It’s even better day when Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the one doing it.
On today’s show, things became quite tense between Elisabeth and Whoopi Goldberg during a discussion about the “N” word:

Okay - this was just too cute not pass on.
If you don’t have a reason to watch Sesame Street on a regular basis, you can have your brief moment of childish fun here. For the show’s upcoming premiere, Feist has put together a special version of its song ‘1234.’
Warning: If you’ve worked hard to get that iPod commercial out of your head, this may not be the best clip for you to watch.
Sesame Street‘s 39th season begins on August 11.

More Reasons Why Regis Philbin Should Retire

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Syndication, Editorial, Video,
A few months ago, I listed 8 reasons why I thought Regis Philbin should start making his retirement plans. Now I would like to add a #9 and #10.
#9. Back in May, the talk show host was talking about the recent American Idol finale when he said, “What happened to the past winners? Where are they today?” When told by co-host Kelly Ripa that they come on their show “all the time,” Regis responded, “Really? I haven’t noticed.”
#10. Philbin, who actually went to the premiere of The Dark Knight yesterday evening, sadly referenced Heath Ledger as ‘Keith Ledger’. (You can see that clip from today’s show below.)

Injury Forces Top Ten Change on SYTYCD

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, So You Think You Can Dance, News, Video,

At least she can say she made it to the finals…
After narrowly beating out Comfort last week for a spot in the Top Ten, So You Think You Can Dance‘s Jessica King is having to give up her spot to Comfort.
Producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe told reporters today that an unfortunate injury has sidelined the redhead for approximately four to five weeks. This means Comfort Fedoke will get at least one more chance to demonstrate her obvious lack of training.
More details on Jessica’s injury will be revealed on this week’s episode. In the meantime, you can review Jessica’s last contemporary piece with Will after the jump:
