Spinoff News: Gossip Girl, The L Word, NCIS

Gossip Girl
: Apparently when executive producer Josh Schwartz said back in June that there were “no plans for spinoff at this moment,” what he really meant was: “We aren’t planning anything for Jenny Humphrey.”
After months of speculation, CW finally announced that they will be creating a backdoor pilot for what could possibly be a Gossip Girl spinoff. (This would be similar to what Shonda Rhimes did with Private Practice.) If the test run is successful, the new series would not involve any actors from the sophomore show, nor would it even be located in New York.

MONDAY 1/12)
- 24 (FOX, 8pm): “Jack is released from his Senate subcommittee hearing to help with the domestic threat and the investigation into former colleague Tony Almeida.” I can’t imagine what he would do to just to get out of jury duty.
- Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm): Season 3 premiere. “Lori, Declan, Josh and Andy deal with the choices they made at the prom.” Whatever happens at prom, stays at prom.
- Man vs. Wild (Discovery, 10pm): “An adventure in the jungles of Belize has the host reckoning with a 9-foot boa constrictor and a dangerous white-water river.” The longer the snake, the more skin to pee in.

Watch Showtime Premieres Without a Subscription

Still deciding whether to renew your Showtime subscription? Maybe some free previews will help.
On Thursday, January 8th, Netflix will offer advanced access to United States of Tara. The series - which won’t officially debut until January 18 - lists Steven Spielberg and Diablo Cody as two of the program’s executive producers. Cody (Juno) also penned the show’s pilot.
Tara tells the story of a woman (Toni Collette) with dissociative identity disorder (a.k.a. multiple personalities). John Corbett (Sex and the City), Brie Larson and Keir Gilchrist play the family members who must deal with the appearances of the “provocative teenager,” the “gun-toting Vietnam vet” and the “Betty Crocker homemaker.”

2009 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations (TV)

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, ABC, Cable, FOX, HBO, NBC, Showtime, TNT-HD, 24, Desperate Housewives, Entourage, House, The Office, News,

Even though SAG members are currently debating whether to strike, today’s award nominations gave them all a brief distraction. If the upcoming Oscars telecast doesn’t go on as planned, next month’s Screen Actors Guild Awards (scheduled for January 25th on TNT and TBS) could be the last time actors have a reason to celebrate.
Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from this year’s list of television nominees:
- 30 Rock, Boston Legal, The Closer, John Adams and Mad Men all scored three noms each.
- Dexter is up for its first win in the Outstanding Drama Series Ensemble category.
- Desperate Housewives - a nominee for Best Ensemble - received no individual honors.
- Debra Messing (The Starter Wife), Kevin Connolly (Entourage), January Jones (Mad Men), Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) all received Golden Globe nominations, but no SAG noms.
