For all you lovers of Top Gear, the fantastic BBC show that goes to the extreme with cars, we are giving away the new Top Gear Season 10 DVD set. If you haven’t seen Top Gear, you should, because it’s insane entertainment. How insane? How about driving through the Kalahari Desert in three 20 year old beaters? Or how about crossing the English Channel in a fleet of amphibious cars? See? Now you’re interested.

Shades of Star Trek’s Tricorder. A team of reseachers financed by the National Science Foundation has produced a prototype iPhone app that identifies tree species. It matches a picture of a leaf with its database and narrows it down to 5 to 10 possibilities. So far the application has been tested in three areas but the data is limited to the northeastern U.S. Creator Sean White wants to develop applications for Google, Nokia and Microsoft platforms as well, although it will be some time before it is available to consumers.

Capcom brings Resident Evil: Degeneration to iPhone

This morning Resident Evil: Degeneration hit the App Store, officially bringing the Resident Evil game series to the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is based on the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie from Sony Picture Home Entertainment, and puts you in control of CLaire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, our Resident Evil mainstays.
The game hits you with 3D graphics, multi-touch controls, and even takes advantage of the accelerometer. Resident Evil: Degeneration sells for $6.99, and is available for purchase immediately.
