Posted by Abby Rose Dalto Categories: Drama, Cable, TNT-HD, Rumors,
Holly Hunter may star in a new TNT cop drama, Grace. The pilot, which was written by Nancy Miller, will focus on a police detective who attempts to redeem her life after a visit from an angel.
Hunter, who is most known for her film roles, won an Academy Award for best actress for The Piano in 1994 and has been nominated four times total. While she has appeared in numerous TV-movies, this is her first attempt at a television series.
After TNT’s success with crime drama, The Closer - starring another actress famous for her film roles, Kyra Sedgwick - it is no surprise that they are interested in Grace.

Crank Yankers Returns – on MTV2
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Cable, Cable/Satellite, Renewals,
At least one network still thinks that prank phone calls are funny. MTV2 has announced that it will air eight new episodes of Crank Yankers. Crank Yankers started on Comedy Central in 2002, featuring celebrity guest pranksters whose calls were re-enacted by a variety of puppets. While the show has been absent for some time—Comedy Central cancelled its run after 60 episodes—MTV2 finally gave the green light for more new episodes. Among the crank callers are Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carolla, Wanda Sykes and Sarah Silverman. While I was not a regular follower of the series, I was a fan of the prank phone calls by Sykes and Silverman. According to Tony DiSanto, Head of Programming at MTV2, “The show’s devious sense of humor fits right in with our creative sensibility… and we’re looking forward to running up the phone bills.” A debut date has yet to be set—and heck, does anybody watch MTV2?

The Office Webisodes Now Online
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, NBC, The Office, Internet,
NBC.com now has the first two of many summer webisodes of The Office: The Accountants available on their web site. The first, titled “The Books Don’t Balance,” sets the mystery in motion as the accounting team discovers that $3,000 is missing. Webisode 2, titled “Phyllis,” follows the accountants as they question Phyllis about the missing money. While the episodes only feature the accountants, it does give these secondary players a chance to take the spotlight. Boss Michael (played by Steve Carell), and Jim and Pam’s blossoming romance are noticeably absent, but the accountants do a great comedic job with the storyline. Overall, this provides some fresh Office episodes while we await the series premiere in the fall. New episodes are posted every Thursday, so check it out and see if you can find the person responsible for the missing funds.

Coming Soon to The View
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Daytime, Talk Shows, ABC, Talent,
Is The View thumbing their nose at Star Jones? The show announced that one of the original co-hosts (and first to be fired), Debbie Matenopoulos, will be guest hosting on July 25th. Debbie was a co-host in 1997, then was fired in 1999. For those following her career –- I for one have tried to avoid her, but somehow she keeps popping up –- she worked on the TV Guide Channel, then Good Day Live, and is now one of three hosts on The Daily 10 on E!. According to The View‘s spokesperson, Debbie has had a “long and wonderful history with The View.” So, apparently, she left on good terms with the show -– or at least good enough to give her one day to make an appearance. The View also confirms that upcoming guest co-hosts will include Shannen Doherty, Robin Givens, and Mo’Nique.

The race lasts 30 days, with contestants covering 40,000 miles—traveling to locales such as Mongolia, Kuwait, Vietnam and Madagascar. Zap2it.com features the complete list of teams.

Diane Lane Makes Hair Donation on Live TV
Posted by Abby Rose Dalto Categories: Talk Shows, NBC, Editorial,
Diane Lane - star of films such as Under the Tuscan Sun, Unfaithful, and Must Love Dogs - recently cut off all of her hair on the Today show. Lane donated the hair to be made into a wig for women who suffered hair loss as a result of cancer treatment. She did this as part of the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign, which encourages people to grow long, healthy hair to donate.
Her hair was cut by Today show co-host Ann Curry, who donated her own hair in March to Locks of Love, a charity that makes wigs for children. Lane also appeared on The View to show off her new short ‘do.
For those of you thinking about donating your hair, there are a few guidelines:
Beautiful Lengths requires that donated hair be at least 8 inches long (Locks of Love requires 10 inches). Wavy/curly hair is fine. Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged. Please bundle clean hair in a ponytail or braid.
For more information visit the official Pantene Beautiful Lengths or Locks of Love websites.
On a personal note, I would like to encourage anyone out there with long hair to donate. I’ve done it twice already and it’s such an easy way to help someone. The organizations also except monetary donations and volunteer work from those who cannot donate hair.

They say that breaking up is hard to do… not with Shannen Doherty’s help. No joke. Shannen Doherty will soon have a show on Oxygen called Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty, where she provides advice on how to end relationships. I’m not sure what makes her an expert in this area, other than the fact that she has two ex-husbands under her belt, but maybe this new gig will give her tarnished reputation a brand new shine. 35-year-old Doherty, famous for her difficult behavior and her role as Brenda on Beverly Hills, 90210 (as well as Charmed), says “A lot of it is a matter of guilt or feeling that attachment or the fear of being alone or all these sort of different emotional things that go into a breakup that sometimes it’s hard for somebody.” Huh? I’m not sure what type of solid advice she’ll be dispensing, but the whole thing reminds me of that Adam Sandler skit on Saturday Night Live called “The Denise Show,” where Sandler’s forlorn character pined for his ex-girlfriend (played by Doherty).

British Office Cast Visit Dunder Mifflin
Posted by Wendy Michaels Categories: Comedy, Prime Time, BBC, NBC, The Office,
Hollywood.com reports that the stars of the British version of The Office are planning to appear in cameo roles on the American version. The executive producer of the American version, Ben Silverman, said that employees from the Brit Office could “find themselves sharing an office with Scranton, Pennsylvania company Dunder Mifflin.” Silverman told the New York Post “There’s a lot of love between (the casts and crews) of the two versions of the show. Expect some cameos from the U.K. paper company.” No word yet on who will be appearing or even when, but apparently Ricky Gervais is not scheduled to appear anytime soon – according to Silverman, “We’re going to save the big man for now.” I’m sure any of the phenomenal British ensemble will be a welcome addition to the employees at Dunder Mifflin.
