Shannen Doherty Changes Her Image in New Series

Shannen Doherty’s non-bitchy side will be displayed on an upcoming reality series, tentatively titled Shannen.

According to gossip, Doherty has already met with several networks. The series itself is supposed to show how funny Shannen is, and could even contain scripted elements that belie its reality premise.

So far, Doherty is keeping pretty quiet about the project. “I’ll be back on TV very soon,” she recently hinted to the press. “There will be an announcement very soon. I promise you that.”

This will be the first Shannen-centric series since the ill-fated Breaking Up with Shannen Doherty (2006) on Oxygen.

Is Kara DioGuardi Working on New Reality Show?

Kara DioGuardiAccording to New York Magazine, is looking for a home for her new reality show. Gossip has it that her show Dropped will bestow a precious second chance on contestants.

While promoting the show and looking for a network to pick it up, DioGuardi has mentioned that such artists as Katy Perry, Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga were all dropped by their record labels in the past. She also points out that she, Kara DioGuardi, was also dropped at one point.

The Show Must Go On: Idol Continues Without Abdul

Victoria BeckhamPosh Spice, a.k.a. Victoria Beckham, joined Kara, Simon and Randy today for auditions in Denver, Colorado. “We gotta try and make it work, man,” said Randy Jackson of doing the show without it’s original female judge.

Kara DioGuardi said she’s “completely shocked” and that ’s absence is “such a loss for the show and the contestants.”

Apparently, Posh and Simon Cowell already have a history together - Cowell turned down the Spice Girls. “I think he’s great,” a smiling told reporters.

Rob and Amber Reality Duo Adds Third to the Team

You may remember Rob and Amber Mariano from the two weeks where they stole every single magazine cover in the industry, just after the end of Survivor: All Stars. The pair met and fell in love while filming the reality series, which they went on to win. On the final grand finale for the season, Amber Brkich walked away with $1 million… and an engagement ring from “Boston Rob.” They were soon married on a TV special that detailed their wedding plans and celebration.

The pair went on to second-place success on before they starred in ten episodes of their own reality series, Rob and Amber: Against the Odds. Now, the super couple has added a new member to their team of two: their first baby.

Lucia Rose Mariano was born July 4 in Florida, where the couple now lives. “We are over the moon with happiness at her arrival,” said Rob of the happy event.

Ryan Seacrest’s Historic Paycheck

Ryan Seacrest American Idol isn’t letting it’s sandy-haired host go anywhere…not for the next 3 years, at least. has finished his contract negotiations and is now the highest-paid host in the history of all reality TV.

Not bad for someone who’s very best catchphrase is “Seacrest out.” Ryan went up from $5 million a season to a staggering $45 million, signing onto the reality powerhouse until 2012. As an added perk, Seacrest’s production company (imaginatively named Ryan Seacrest Productions) will claim more power in the 19 Entertainment family. Seacrest will be working more with Idol creator Simon Fuller as a result.

Ryan Seacrest’s Salary on the Rise

American Idol’s is currently negotiating his contract, which could come with a pay hike that promotes him to one of the highest-paid hosting gigs in TV. Simon Cowell was the first to ink a deal for the ninth season of the show, with remaining regular cast members still in talks with FOX, Fremantle and 19 Entertainment.

The three companies jointly produce Idol (this helps explain why Idol has three times more promotion and product placement per episode than some shows see in an entire season), and Seacrest is getting further into the fold all the time. Reportedly, the reality TV mogul is working on a new series with 19 Entertainment and American Idol creator Simon Fuller. This could be the which has been Twittered about recently…or, it could be any one of the other umpteen TV gigs Seacrest has in the works.

Paula Abdul Confirmed to American Idol

Paula Abdul has been invited to be a part of American Idol for “the duration of the show, however long it lasts.” Though her contract for Season 9 isn’t official, the former pop princess says the #1 reality show is something she’ll always “want to be a part of.”

recently got a huge pay hike from Idol, proving that he, too, will be returning for one more season at least.

American Idol 9: Bucking for a Female Winner?

No episodes have aired and the season hasn’t started, but industry gossip has it that a female will wear the crown at the end of (which begins broadcasting in January).

According to Vote for the Worst, the gossip mill is saying that producers are willing to do whatever it takes - and votes be damned - to reach this desired end. Since the last two seasons have featured male winners, it’s assumed a female will re-balance the winning scales for the reality show. Allegedly, good-looking female plants are being shuffled into the audition mix even now.
