New Season for Secret Life
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Gossip, Renewals,
In the middle of all the winter reality and new small-screen comedies, ABC Family’s surprise hit will reappear next month. That’s right: The Secret Life of the American Teenager is returning Monday, January 5.
The first season was split into two as the show began to create more buzz and excitement. The eleventh episode “Just Say No,” the last to air before the fall break, drew more than four and half million viewers. It’s official: the family drama is a success.
Ten more episodes will now air for the second season, bringing viewers up-to-date on all the relationships, twists and, of course, the status of Amy Jergens (Shailene Woodley) and her as-yet-unborn baby. For those who want a refresher, ABC Family will air the first eleven episodes in an all-day marathon January 4.
Can’t sit in front of the TV that Sunday? The first season of the series will also be available on DVD as of December 30.

Casting Corner: How I Met Your Mother, Greek, Brothers & Sisters and More
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, CBS, Grey’s Anatomy, News, Rumors,
Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
iCarly: American Idol finalist David Archuleta will be targeting the teen demos when he makes a stop on Nickelodeon. In the appearance, which will be taped this Thursday, the singer will play…himself. But there will be a twist. Instead of being known for his FOX show, Archuleta will be a contestant on a program called “America Sings.” This guest stint not-so-coincidentally comes around the time David’s first album drops. His self-titled debut hits stores on November 11.)

Secret Life Finale Leaves Fans Hanging
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Cable, Editorial,
ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager is a runaway hit, scoring acclaim and praise from fans and critics alike. Last month, the show was nominated for a Teen Choice Award. This week, it ended it’s debut 11-episode run in a rather jolting fashion - and left fans wishing for more.
Secret scored right away with viewers, and the numbers show that this successful summer series could warrant a winter run. Almost 4 million viewers (3.9 to be precise) watched the recent “Back to School Special” episode - big numbers for cable.
The remainder of the 23 episodes left in the first season of Secret Life will begin airing in January, but the open-ended mid-season finale left plenty of secrets still undiscovered.

- Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm): Season 2 premiere. “Summer in the Hamptons winds down as Serena and Nate carry on a cover-up scheme to make others think they’re dating.” A few choice pics sent to Gossip Girl should do the trick.
- Prison Break (FOX, 8pm): Season 4 premiere. “Michael is in LA looking to even the score with Gretchen for Sara’s death.” I think Gretchen should really apologize for all of last season.
- One Tree Hill (CW, 9pm): Season 6 premiere. “Lucas’ chosen lady meets him at the airport, while Dan’s accident proves life-threatening.” Sorry. So not caring who Chad Michael Murray picks these days.
- Raising the Bar (TNT, 10pm): Series premiere. “Idealistic public defender Jerry Kellerman (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) fights for a man he’s sure is innocent, but holding a court is a judge who loathes Kellerman.” Gosselaar’s new hair has been generating some passionate opinions.

Lauren Conrad on Gossip Girl?
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Drama, Prime Time, Reality, MTV, The CW, The Hills, Gossip, Rumors,
Set to appear in an upcoming episode of ABC Family’s Greek, reality star Lauren Conrad has spilled the beans on a guilty pleasure of hers: Gossip Girl.
“I love Gossip Girl. I just love it. It’s so gossipy and superficial. It’s amazing,” Conrad said, obviously never one to try be above such silly things, considering her
life on MTV’s The Hills.
Then again, fans of the “fashion designer” shouldn’t get their hopes up—Conrad took it back: “I probably wouldn’t want to see myself on there because it would ruin it for me. I like watching other people get gossiped about. It makes me feel better.”
How profound you are, Lauren!

MONDAY (8/4)
- Teen Choice 2008 (FOX, 8pm): “Miley Cyrus hosts the 10th annual gala honoring achievement in entertainment, sports and fashion.” If kids are wearing things from the 80’s, could that really be considered an achievement in fashion?
- I Want to Work for Diddy (VH1, 9pm): Series premiere. “Applicants compete to be Diddy’s next personal assistant.” The more babies you have, the more umbrella holders you need.
- New York Goes to Hollywood (VH1, 10pm): Series premiere. “New York moves to L.A. to pursue her dream of becoming an A-list entertainer.” Ashley Dupre has proven that you can live in New York and do the same there.

MONDAY (7/7)
- The Bachelorette (ABC, 8pm): “In the season finale, DeAnna has a choice to make between the two finalists after taking her two suitors to a Grand Bahama Island and home to Georgia to meet her family.” In the event of a tiebreaker, the most photogenic candidate should always be chosen. Good wedding photos last forever.
- Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm): “As the sextuplets turn 4, Jon and Kate take them to a bakery to decorate their own birthday cupcakes with the stipulation that they can’t eat them until after dinner.” Cupcakes? Note to the Jolie-Pitt clan. More kids = smaller birthday celebrations.
- Verminators ( Discovery, 10pm): “Jamie has to tackle his fears when he is called in to deal with a black widow.” Apparently someone needs to work on his rochambeau skills.
- Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal (A&E, 10pm): “A story of ReAnna Kelly, a girl supposedly visited by spirits, including that of her deceased grandmother, jazz singer Nina Simone.” There are times when hearing the song ‘Sinnerman’ is not so cool.
