On Gear Live: Samsung S95C: The OLED TV You Can’t Afford (to Ignore!)

Rihanna and Chris Brown

Cable TV is capitalizing on the scandalous post-Grammy headlines that paint Chris Brown as a woman-beater and a victim. They were two young, hot popstars. Now, they’re young, even hotter tabloid fodder. Want to see one version of this relationship?

will air Chris Brown & Rihanna: Love in Trouble on Monday night at 6pm EST. A presentation of MTV News, the special will be studded with specialists, journalists and other “experts” who will provide “insight” and “commentary” into how the recent events might unfold in the future. An audience of young Brown and Rihanna fans will pepper the stands, offering their take on the events.

The relationship between the pair, which lasted for about a year, will be retold and explored during the special. It will also delve into Brown’s background, which is said to be fraught with abuse. A relationship expert will also participate, offering insight and advice to help young people face domestic violence in their own relationships.

MONDAY 2/16)
  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “Chuck and Sarah go undercover as a happily married couple in surburbia.” A happy couple in surburbia? Isn’t the whole point to be inconspicuous?
  • Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 9pm):  “The Gosselins settle into their new home after the big move, but there’s still lots of work to be done.” And Kate will make sure Jon knows it.
  • Kyle XY (ABC Family, 9pm):  “Kyle reluctantly starts working at Latnok to repay his debt, and it’s not at all what he expects. Yet he still wants to quit, until he considers the Tragers’ current financial situation.” Back up a second—someone’s hiring?

MONDAY 2/9)

NOTE: A President Obama press conference will interfere with the previously scheduled programming.

  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Ben and Amy’s relationship hits a rough patch when Ben tells her he needs some space.” The pressure of buying a Valentine’s Day gift was just too much for him.
  • One Way Out (Discovery, 9pm):  “The host braves a high-speed barrage of tennis balls and steep plunges into kiddie pools before becoming the projectile in a human catapult.” Idiotic stunts have just become more financially appealing.
  • The Girls of Hedsor Hall (MTV, 9pm):  Series premiere. “In the opener, 12 rude and crude bad girls from the U.S. enroll in a British finishing school for a chance to transform their lives and win a $100,000 trust.” The goal? To become the next or Lily Allen.

During last season’s finale of Making with the Band 4, Diddy surprised everyone following by making two shocking decisions. (Okay - we could have probably seen the first one coming.) Even before layoffs had become the norm, the girl group’s producer axed Aubrey O’Day and D. Woods after a very uncomfortable meeting. (You can relive that moment after the jump.)

  • Bromance (MTV, 9pm):  “Brody tricks the final four into attending a fake launch party for his line of designer jeans, where he asks them to walk the red carpet in pants that are entirely too tight.” Huh. I have no idea why people think this is really a dating show.
  • Trust Me (TNT, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh star as two best friends working as creative partners at a top-ranked Chicago ad agency.” Kinda like , but without the booze and cigarettes. At least not in the office.
