On Gear Live: 2024 Nissan Z Nismo Review

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Ugly Betty: Betty may never change her style, but she’ll always have new love interest. EW reports that actor Daniel Eric Gold (Definitely, Maybe) will be the latest man to enter Suarez’s life. The intelligent fellow will be one of her classmates in her new YETI program. Unfortunately, Gold - who is currently listed as a recurring player - will also come with a “secret.” (I believe that’s a show prerequisite.)

The CBS ratings train keeps rolling along. Last night, the network’s lineup topped some of their best numbers…once again.

MONDAY 12/15)
  • Heroes (NBC, 9:00):  “Mohinder may hold the key to rescuing Hiro.” I’m starting to wonder if Mohinder has the answer to anything.
  • 20/20 (ABC, 9:00):  “Teens put on a show in a chronicle of a Virginia high school production of ‘The Wiz’ that uses video diaries and interviews to follow the emotional drama of students.” Sadly, this is the same network that also put together the barely-watched .
  • Worst Week (CBS, 9:30):  “Sam helps Dick choose the perfect gift for Angela after discovering he gets her the same thing every year.” Just for the record: Some things like spa packages and jewelry can be given over and over again.
  • The Hills (MTV, 10:00):  “Heidi and Spencer consider eloping during a Mexican vacation.” Whatever you do - avert your eyes.

Despite a Charlie Brown special and Boston Legal finale on ABC, CBS’ comedies continued to show growth last night. The network’s first three programs had their best numbers all season while Worst Week had its best performance since the premiere.

Life post-Dancing with the Stars is always hard for ABC. Despite the Alphabet network’s holiday specials and programming originals, the network was beat by a slate of repeats on CBS.

MONDAY 12/1)
  • Shrek the Halls (ABC, 8pm): Hopefully this Mike Myers laugher will help us all forget The Love Guru.
  • Inside the Actor’s Studio (Bravo, 8pm):  “Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter film franchise, charts his career journey.” I’m not sure I want to see James Lipton enthusiastically talking about Radcliffe’s nude Broadway performance.
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “Ando, Sam and Frack try to restore Hiro’s memory with a comic book.” Any person trying to follow this series should be given an instruction manual.
  • Boston Legal (ABC, 10pm):  “When Denny receives bad news about the state of his Alzheimer’s, Alan goes before the Massachusetts Supreme Court to plead for access to an experimental drug that can help his condition.” Alzheimers? Maybe Shatner simply forgot why George Takei dislikes him so.

Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights

Come this January, NBC will be setting aside some dead weight to make room for a few new entries. The network will also also welcome the return of a critical fave.

  • As mentioned earlier, My Own Worst Enemy and Lipstick Jungle have both been cut from the schedule. Crusoe, which was recently moved to Saturdays, is also MIA.
  • Life, Chuck and Heroes will all get a few weeks off. (The trio will be back in time for February sweeps.)
  • Although it was recently banished to DirecTV, will live to see another NBC Friday. The drama will return on Jan. 16.
  • Hoping to jump in late on the dance show craze, the network will introduce a new reality series from the producers of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance. Superstars of Dance, a show which is being described as the “Olympic Games of dance,” will begin airing on Mondays starting January 5th.
  • Deal or No Deal will take a hiatus while another Howie Mandel-related series gets its start. Howie Do It - a hidden-camera reality program - will premiere on Friday January 9th.
  • Momma’s Boys, another Ryan Seacrest produced show (can we say Keeping Up with the Kardashians?), will get a home on Mondays right after Superstars.

Despite tough competition from Dancing with the Stars, CBS’ early comedies were able to hit record high numbers last night. This gave the Eye network another win in the demos while ABC was on top with the viewers.

What a difference a few months makes. Last May, CBS was still deciding whether to renew How I Met Your Mother. This November, the comedy has shown considerable growth. Last night, HIMYM‘s new season high helped its network take the win with the demos. ABC, in the meantime, was again on top with the viewers.

One week after taking a back seat to NBC’s SNL special, CBS’ comedy lineup experienced a nice rebound. The network came back last night to take a win in the demos while ABC was on top with the viewers.
