Jack and Sharon OsbourneSharon Osbourne has slammed NBC for being ungracious.

The 59-year-old presenter - who quit her role on America's Got Talent because she claims the network fired her son Jack Osbourne via email from reality show Stars Earn Stripes following his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis (MS) - wants to be more selective about who she works with now she is getting older.

"I'm going to be 60 in October. So I'm at the age where I really want to work with people who I want to. And I felt that the network were not gracious. They handled the situation horribly. They've been backtracking, they've been not gracious with me at all," she said, explaining her decision to quit America's Got Talent.

Sharon admitted she is upset at leaving the show but she doesn't want to be a "hypocrite." Speaking on CBS This Morning, she said, "I love my principles and my son more [than America's Got Talent.] I would be a hypocrite if I went, 'Hi guys, how are you doing today?' I'm not that person. They don't like me, and I don't like them. They're stuck with me until next week. They don't want to be, believe me. But I'm going to turn up, and I'm going to do my final show and then I'm going to say 'bye.'"

The Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter will be working alongside Simon Cowell on the talent show, helping the music mogul pick his finalists for his category, which is believed to be the groups.

This news comes just over a week after it was reveled that pop star Justin Bieber had also been enlisted as a mentor on the show. He was spotted at Simon's rival judge L.A. Reid's house helping him select the most talented acts from his category, rumored to be the over-25s.

Randy JacksonRandy Jackson has left American Idol as a judge.

The music producer - who has been on the panel of the show since it began - will instead become a "mentor" behind the scenes, as producers still want him involved. "There's some concern among the brass that Jackson is not well-suited for the mentor role... but they feel they need him because he's the glue that helps keep the show together," a source told TMZ.

Mariah Carey has already signed on to be a judge on the show - after Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler quit - and Nicki Minaj is expected to be another new addition. Mariah is not thought to be a fan of Nicki's, although producers are delighted at the prospect of conflict between them both.

Currently it is hoped there will be four judges this year, with the third seat taken by a country music star and the fourth unknown.

Elementary vs. SherlockBenedict Cumberbatch is a "bit cynical" about Elementary.

The British actor plays the leading character in the UK's Sherlock, and while he wishes those in the US show - which also tells the story of fictional detective Sherlock Holmes in a modern setting - the "best of luck," he did tell lead actor Jonny Lee Miller he would rather he didn't take part.

"It's very odd. I did say to Jonny, 'Well, I'd prefer you didn't do it but you've got a kid to feed, a nice house in Los Angeles and a wife to keep in good clothes.' When you get used to a certain standard of living and they waft a paycheck at you, what are you going to do? I think Jonny was like, 'Mate, I've got a f**king mountain to climb here, you've got nothing to fear.' I wish him the best of luck, but I'm a bit cynical about why they've chosen to do it and why they cast him," he said.

Jennie Garth and Luke PerryJennie Garth and Luke Perry are developing a sitcom together.

The former Beverly Hills 90210 co-stars were thought to be dating after being spotted together a number of times recently but they are in fact planning a new show which they hope will "play up their chemistry."

"They have been spending a lot of time together recently because the two are working on developing a TV sitcom together. It will be a multi-camera half hour show, currently we have producers and writers and are meeting with networks," a representative for Jennie said.

Jennie split from Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli in March after 16 years together and she is said to be more confident than ever after first struggling to cope with the breakdown of her marriage. "She's happier than ever. She looks like the old Jennie! When you get sad, you either overeat or you become really healthy. Jennie's taking care of herself - she's taken control of her situation. Before, she used to be like, 'OK, let's cover me up.' And now she's more open-minded about having fun with her clothes. She's feeling good in her skin," a friend said.

The "Toxic" singer is having a "lot of fun" working on the program with fellow panelists Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid and tries to be constructive in her advice for the auditionees.

"So far everything has been so fun for all of us. Everything is like a new experience for me, so it's a lot of fun and the talent has been amazing. I feel like my judging style is very subtle. I try to use constructive criticism," she said in a new promo clip for the show.

Alanis MorissetteAlanis Morissette is in talks to join the judging panel of American Idol.

The 38-year-old singer is said to be "excited" at the prospect of joining the show, especially because it would help boost sales of her forthcoming album Havoc and Bright Lights, which is released later this month.

"Alanis is really excited about the prospect of being on the show. She has a new album coming out and the publicity would be great. She kind of disappeared for a while to get married and have a baby, but now she's ready to get her career back on track," a source said.

Alanis is seen by show bosses as a perfect replacement for departed judge Steven Tyler, who quit the talent contest along with Jennifer Lopez last month. "They have Mariah Carey for the diva figure on the show and Alanis would be the honest judge who could really teach the contestants important lessons about the music business. Nothing is signed yet, but they're negotiating and near closing a deal," the source added.
