On Gear Live: Samsung S95C: The OLED TV You Can’t Afford (to Ignore!)

That large white residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue might be impressive, but it’s not the most exciting place ‘s been to this year. Earlier this week, the First Lady reached out to children everywhere with a PSA she recorded on Sesame Street. The clip, which also features that oh-so-cute red guy, stresses the importance of good eating.

An ecstatic Obama shared her joy with diplomats and staff members at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. “I’m thrilled to be here, but I was just at —I’m sorry. And I never thought I’d be on Sesame Street with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled. I’m still thrilled. I’m on a high,” she said. “I think it’s probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House. But we were there talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and it’s just been a thrill.”

Obama is not the first FLOTUS to appear on the classic children’s program. Laura Bush and Hillary Clinton have both guested as well.

Kiefer Sutherland

The ladies might have stolen the Met Costume Institute Gala’s spotlight, but it was who made fashion world news last night.

The 24 star was at an after-party for the annual event when he allegedly saw Jack McCollough, a Proenza Schouler designer, knock over Brooke Shields. Although the actress later denied that anything “inappropriate” happened to her, a confrontation between Jack and Kiefer eventually led to a Sutherland head-butt.

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa

Dear Regis and Kelly,

I have something I really need to get off my chest. Even though I continue to watch on a fairly regular basis (usually out of habit), I find myself increasingly more annoyed as the days go by.

You can call me bitter and jealous all you want, but this is something I’ve been bothered by long before the economy started to tank. The current climate has only made it worse.

Earlier this week, I flipped on your program while Regis was talking about the AIG bonuses. Kelly followed that up with a story about a group of teachers who opted to take a 5% pay cut to help save their coworkers. That discussion then led to an unnecessary confession from Regis: He recently took a pay cut as well. (Uhh - did he want us to pat him on the back?) When the topic was redirected back to Kelly, she then joked, “Some of us don’t need a pay cut!”

Finally a bit of good news for NBC. Even though the network faced another evening against American Idol, it did manage a second-place finish in the demos. Why? Nice returns for both The Biggest Loser and SVU. (The repeats on CBS also helped.)

Daytime icon recently jumped into the fray and media frenzy surrounding Chris Brown and Rihanna on her talk show, speaking out against domestic violence and speaking personally to the singing star.

“Love doesn’t hurt,” Winfrey said more than once, contradicting several famous rock songs and more than one long-revered poet. “If a man hits you once, he will hit you again!” She stated passionately.

Randy Jackson on Ellen

During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, one judge worked with the talk show host to solve the problems in another judge’s love life.

In-between talking about the upcoming season and other music tidbits with Ellen, attempted to find a lady love for his acerbic co-host.

“Let’s talk about being single,” suggested Ellen. “I bet you’re helping him now.”

“His social skills need some work,” laughed Jackson.

Days of our Live's Marlena and John

One of daytime’s popular soaps has just been hit with two of the most dreaded words today: budget cuts.

In hopes of keeping up and running for at least another 18 months, the sudser’s producers have been forced to make a few difficult decisions. Unfortunately for fans, that means saying goodbye to two of the show’s longest-running characters: Marlena Evans and John Black.

Despite some work on other projects, actress Deidre Hall has been with the 43-year-old NBC program since 1976. Her on-and-off daytime husband, Drake Hogestyn, joined DOOL back in 1986.
