On Gear Live: Circuit Breaker: The Tech Newsletter that Elevates Your Gadget Game

The Daily Show has officially announced that President Barack Obama will become the first sitting president to appear on the series. The leader of the free world is scheduled to visit the late night talk show Wednesday, October 27.

Obama himself is a friend of the show -- he appeared via video conferencing only days before the 2008 presidential election (view that moment in the clip above).

The president's appearance is surely no coincidence. Comedy Central isn’t exactly a big news media outlet, but in its way the cable network is an active contributor to pop culture and the way people view the political landscape. Strongly left-oriented, Comedy Central’s audience is in Obama’s target Democratic and left-leaning undecided demographic … and the midterm elections are now less than a dozen days away.

Will you be tuning it to hear the President’s message?

MONDAY (10/25)

  • Little People, Big World (TLC, 8 p.m.: "Matt has a large replica of Noah's Ark brought to the farm, despite Amy's protests." At least he'll have something to sleep in.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 9 p.m.): "Jenny returns to the Upper East Side when she gets a chance to meet Tim Gunn (appearing as himself)." Taylor Momsen together with Tim Gunn? This concerns me.
  • The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 10 p.m.): "Mired in marital problems, NeNe looks to cheer herself up---through plastic surgery." So Kim slept with a woman and NeNe got a nose job. Big deal, call it a day, keep it moving.

Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno-Ladies -- get ready for some green chest action on ABC. The network is teaming up with Marvel to bring back a new version of The Incredible Hulk. (Mark Ruffalo is scheduled to play the character on the big screen in The Avengers.)

-Prepare for more television coverage of miners. Spike TV has been developing Coal -- a show about miners in West Virginia -- for over a year now. The program from the Deadliest Catch producers will debut in April.

-Barbara Walters has reportedly named the cast of Jersey Shore one of the most fascinating subjects of 2010. Barbara's annual special will air on December 9. Season 3 of Jersey Shore will then premiere on January 6.

-Speaking of Baba Wawa, the ABC personality has nabbed journalism's most coveted interview: the one with Oprah Winfrey. That discussion about Oprah's final season  will air just before Barbara's Most Fascinating special.

Stars like Tom Hanks, Betty White, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, Cedric the Entertainer, George Clooney, Jason Alexander, Zack Galifianakis, Drew Carey and the Geico gecko (to name just a few) crowded onto a single set to answer phones for Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education -- and they were just the in-between act. The cable network outdid itself on Thursday night, interspersing live phone segments with the pre-recorded, gala event held weeks ago in New York City.

Highlights from the pre-recorded theater event include the tuneful moment that reunited event host Jon Stewart with former Daily Show contributors Stephen Colbert and Steven Carrell. The latter two delivered a rousing song written for 2008 about Captain Sullenberger. The “Chocolate Rain” YouTube sensation made an appearance, and the song was so good even Jon Stewart was compelled to join in mid-chorus.

Although we are still over two weeks away from the official launch of ’s new TBS show, the buzz is already building. To ramp up the excitement for the late-night program, Team Coco began 24 hours of live streaming from the show’s offices at 1 p.m. EST today.

What behind-the-scenes action could we possibly see from that camera focused on the stairwell of their “comedy bunker”? If you were watching at 6:00 p.m. EST, you would have caught a dancing Taco Bell mascot (with a dancing taco). Earlier in the afternoon, you would have been treated to an aerobics session straight from the ‘80s.

kicks off on November 8.

President Barack Obama will appear on the December 8 episode of Mythbusters, a show dedicated to disproving movie myths and other urban legends.

The Discovery Channel is offering few tidbits about the presidential appearance, but they did say the episode includes this question: "Did Greek scientist Archimedes set fire to an invading Roman fleet using only mirrors and the reflected rays of the sun?"

The Obama appearance will help promote the White House’s current message of science education.

MONDAY (10/18)

  • The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 9 p.m.): "This Kandi is sweet---she journeys to Palm Springs to extend support to Kim, who's been invited to perform at a gay-circuit party." She wants to be there to laugh with Kim, not at her.

Ugly Americans New Episodes Nick Swardson's Pretend Time Night of Too Many Star

South Park typically pulled no punches Wednesday night when mocking reality TV shows Jersey Shore and the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Now, some of the targets of the jokes have responded to seeing themselves immortalized in animation.

Former Housewives cast member Danielle Staub managed to take it all in stride. “I was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t just me being made fun of for a change,” she laughed. Staub said she was “honored to be mocked” by South Park, adding “Poor Snooki though! I got off easy compared to her!”
