With the big season finales in our not-too-distant memories, what will TV addicts do now to fill our empty calendars? Ah, fear not, for the summer lineup will soon be upon us! One of the more promising options is Big Brother 7 (7? Has it really been 7 seasons?) – dubbed “All-Stars.” Jumping the shark, perhaps, but overall great timing for a fresh concept to spice things up.
According to the CBS site, viewers will choose which houseguests will compete in Season 7. Julie Chen will announce the top 20 contenders on June 21st at 8PM Eastern – voting will begin following the show at midnight ET/9PM Pacific, with the polls closing on June 28th. The season premiere will begin on July 6th, revealing the viewers’ selections for the final houseguests. OK, so they only give us 20 to choose from, but how cool is it to make the final cut? You know the drill from there – each week another houseguest is voted off, and at the end of the three months, the remaining houseguest wins $500,000. I don’t know if that’s worth the agony of living with some of these former “all-stars,” but it’ll be fun to watch. My choices are Kaysar, Janelle or Howie from last season – or how about devilish Dr. Will from season 2? No word yet on the 20 former houseguests we get to choose from, but we’ll keep you posted!

MSNBC’s Top 5 Missed Shows
Posted by Eric Chaloux Categories: CBS, FOX, NBC, WB, Arrested Development, West Wing, The, Cancellations, Internet, Ratings,

The new summer season is about to take over the steamy airwaves. As we laugh, cry and look for the remote while watching these new shows it will give us sometime to think about what’s on the horizon. A lot of shows won’t be back this fall.
Here’s what MSNBC has as the Top 5 shows they’ll miss.
- Arrested Development
- Alias
- The West Wing
- Everwood
- That ‘70s Show
A lot of big names are not on their Top 5 list. Some of those obvious ones are Will & Grace, Malcolm in the Middle and the Bernie Mac Show. I’m not that heartbroken over a season without Hope & Faith and Joey.

It got prime time billing, but the Scripps National Spelling Bee on ABC Thursday night didn’t get an A in the ratings. Coming off the movie “Akeelah and the Bee” that thrust the world of spellers into the spot light, the National Bee got stung in the ratings and finished in third place.
Here’s a look at the numbers…8 million people tuned in the telecast, which earned a 2.2 rating/7 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen. That tied it for third place with NBC in the demo between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., when its competition was Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” reality show, CBS’s game shows and a “CSI” repeat and NBC’s four repeats of “The Office.”
The winner of the night was CBS with that brutal Gameshow Marathon and a CSI repeat. Oh, the other winner of the night was New Jersey’s Catherine Close who won with the word U-R-S-P-R-A-C-H-E.

The summer reality television blahs are about to strike. American Idol is over. The Amazing Race is over. Survivor is over too. So that means back to the summer reality television standby of Big Brother will soon be here. The difference is, this summer CBS is putting the fan in the casting director’s chair. Starting on June 21st, you can pick from a list of 20 former Big Brother All-Stars online to cast this summer’s show. All 20 candidates will be present when Julie Chen announces the ALL-STARS participants on the season premiere,
If the true Big Brother fan that has watched it all six seasons comes out to vote for the cast of Big Brother 7 it could be the nastiest reality shows we’ve scene in sometime where true enemies in the house and outside in the days that came after their evictions square off again. Big Brother 7 airs on CBS on Thursday, July 6th, 8PM ET/PT.

If you can’t spring for the Game Show Network on cable, your prayers have been answered as the Gameshow Marathon premiers May 31st on CBS. The show will be hosted by TV talk show host Ricki Lake. Yeah, that’s right Ricki Lake will be the host of the show that brings TVs best game shows back from the 70s, 80s and 90s and to 2006.
The twist on the Gameshow Marathon is that six celebrities will compete on a variety of game shows including The Price is Right, Let’s Make a Deal, Beat the Clock, Press Your Luck, Card Sharks, Match Game and Family Feud. Each episode will feature just one of the game listed above as one celeb a week for the rest of the summer gets booted off.
If Ricki Lake wasn’t enough of a star for you to watch here are the celebrity contestants that will be slugging it out all summer long, including Paige Davis (“Trading Spaces”), Tim Meadows (“Saturday Night Live”), Leslie Nielsen (“Airplane”), Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act”), Lance Bass (‘N Sync), and Brande Roderick (“Baywatch”).
Gameshow Marathon, hosted by Lake, will premiere on Wednesday, May 31, at 8 p.m. and also air the following night at 8. Set your TIVO because it will then air the following week at 8 p.m on June 7 and 8, before airing once a week in its regular time period on Thursday, June 15 at 8 p.m.
You can bet Bob Barker won’t be watching.

Charlie Sheen Hates His Wife

Apparently. Although the star of the popular sitcom Two and A Half Men has long been known for his bad boy ways, he’s claiming that his wife, Denise Richards, is much, much, worse.
In response to a restraining order filed by the seemingly angelic Richards, Sheen alleges that his marriage is absolutely miserable…and it’s all his wife’s fault. In a scathing interview on Entertainment Tonight, Sheen responds to his wife’s allegations that he is addicted to painkillers, gambles away loads of money online, and is quite perverted, continually surfing Internet porn sites. Ouch!
According to Sheen, it’s all a pack of lies. He says, “It is a reaction to a failed marriage, a reaction to some twisted desire, real or imagined, to hurt, to punish, to discredit, to completely torpedo, to undermine my perception as a responsible father…I find that as unacceptable as anything I’ve ever encountered.”
Oh, boy. This is going to be one ugly divorce. Should make for pretty good TV.

Love ‘Love Monkey?’ It’s Back!
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Comedy, Drama, Cable, CBS, Cancellations, News,
Fans decried the sudden cancellation of the CBS ‘dramedy’ Love Monkey, starring the delightfully talented (and may we say, extremely adorable) Tom Cavanagh. Cavnagh’s character, a record producer in his thirties, faced the perils of the business, life in the city, and the quest for true love, head-on.
With its unique blend of touching emotion and outlandish views of societal quirks, Love Monkey quickly became a favorite of television addicts everywhere. CBS pulled the show after only three episodes. The network claimed they made the decision due to low ratings, but three episodes? The show never even got the chance to succeed!
But take heart: VH1 is picking up the series, and will air the complete first season beginning Tuesday, April 18th.
Whether you already love it or missed it the first time, here’s your chance to enjoy a great show. Let’s just say…you’d have to be bananas to miss out on Love Monkey!

Will Richard Hatch ‘Survive’ Prison?
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Reality, CBS, Survivor, News,
Richard Hatch, notorious winner of popular reality show Survivor’s first season, has found himself in a bit of jam: jammed in behind bars, in fact, possibly with a hulking cellmate named Tiny.
Hatch is facing up to 13 years in prison for not paying his taxes, primarily taxes on the $1,000,000 he won on Survivor; pretty stupid, considering the entire television-viewing world knew he had it. IRS agents watch TV, don’t they? In a move worthy of the best big-headed celebrities, Hatch demanded protective custody until his hearing on April 25. Do you think his cellmates will find him as obnoxious as we did?

‘Big Brother’: The New ‘Surreal Life’?
Posted by Rhys Alexander Categories: Reality, CBS, Talent, News,
Whether it’s because of dwindling ratings or simply boredom, the producers of the long-running reality show Big Brother are ditching the ‘normal’ folks and casting celebrities for the next season. Well, semi-celebrities, anyhow. Much like VH1’s washed-up former star series The Surreal Life, and MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, Big Brother will lock a bunch of former contestants together and watch the drama unfold.
The show has been re-titled: Big Brother: All-Stars, and producers promise that viewers will be able to interact with the contestants more than ever before. Is this a good move? Will this improve your interest in the show, or should Big Brother bow out gracefully?
