Ditch the Smartphone for these 3 Digital Point and Shoots
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Editorial,
Sometimes, your smartphone camera just isn't enough for taking great photos and you need a legitimate point and shoot digital camera. It's okay to admit it – that little lens isn't always the best at detecting light, zooming in, or snapping clear pictures, no matter how good it may be at making selfies. If you need to take pictures that your smartphone just can't handle, you need a digital camera – but you probably don't want to pay too much for one.

3DR Solo Drone with GoPro control features
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, Toys, Transportation,
It’s no argument that one of the biggest gadget sensations right now. That’s understandable, what with the cool-factor combination of flying a radio-controlled craft and the ability to record footage from places you’d never be able to take your DSLR. Be it for casual fun or business purposes, they’re fun toys (or tools, depending on how you look at it.) Just be sure to be aware of your local laws regarding the flying of drones.

GoPro Hero4 Black edition offers 4K recording at 30fps
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cameras, HDTV,
GoPro has announced the new GoPro Hero4 Black Edition camera, which takes its top-of-the-line model and adds in 4K recording at 30 frames per second, what many video enthusiasts consider to be the holy grail for a pocket camcorder. That’s not all, as it can also do 1080p at 120 frames per second (great for slow motions video recording,) and takes 12 megapixel images, up to 30 per second. On the inside you’ll find a processor that is twice a fast as what was in the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition, as well as a redesigned microphone with double the dynamic range as the previous model. Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi allow you to use a smartphone or tablet as a live remote viewfinder for the Hero4 Black Edition as well, which is just awesome. You can pick up the GoPro Hero4 Black edition for $500 starting October 5th.

iOS 8 introduces new time-lapse camera mode
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Cameras, Smartphones, Software,
One new iOS 8 feature that wasn't announced during Apple's WWDC 2014 keynote is time-lapse video capture. When using the camera app, you can swipe over to the new Time-Lapse option, and set up your device to start taking photos at dynamically selected intervals. So, if you want to capture a sunset, a cityscape, or an animal floating by in the water, when you are all said and done, your iOS device will stich the images together into a video. iOS 8 will be available later this fall.
