Madonna

Clearly the economic woes have not been felt by all.

In 2009, Madonna earned over $280 million in ticket sales worldwide. (That’s enough to pay several divorce settlements.) The success of the Sticky & Sweet tour made the singer the best solo draw of all time. (She beat the previous record set by herself in 2006.) The 50-year-old also became the top concert attraction in North America this year.

Here are the Top Ten North American tours of 2008:

  1. Madonna ($105 million)
  2. Celine Dion ($94 million)
  3. The Eagles ($73.4 million)
  4. Kenny Chesney ($72.2 million)
  5. Bon Jovi ($70.4 million)
  6. Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ($69.3 million)
  7. Neil Diamond ($59.8 million)
  8. Rascal Flatts ($55.8 million)
  9. The Police ($48 million)
  10. Tina Turner ($47.7 million)

Above, you can view the video for ’s “Smash Into You,” one of the tracks on her latest album I Am…Sasha Fierce.

Below, you can hear the song “Smack Into You” as performed by singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin. He apparently performed the song - more than once - on one of his live tours. Now, the ditty is on a Beyonce album and rumor has it that the track is stolen.

Surely, Sasha Fierce will soon shed some light on all this.

Jennifer HudsonDespite earlier reports that might soon return work, the Oscar winner realizes that she’s still not emotionally ready.

Last week, J Records told the Associated Press that Hudson would begin filming a new music video sometime this week. The label said the “If It Isn’t Love” shoot was originally supposed to happen around the time her family members were murdered in October. And though it was Jennifer’s intention to “finish what she started,” a source for the 27-year-old said Hudson has since acknowledged “that she’s not ready to go back to work.”

Although Jennifer hasn’t been seen in public since the tragedy, the 27-year-old did release a statement shortly after her recent Grammy nominations.  “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing.” Only time will tell whether Hudson will feel up to appearing at the February 8th ceremony.

Jennifer HudsonJennifer Hudson has made recent headlines for her personal tragedies, but thanks to the Grammys the singer/actress has some happy news to celebrate. Nominated for four awards, Hudson may soon add “Grammy winner” to her impressive list of credentials.

Hudson, who won an Oscar for her work in Dreamgirls, said she’s “honored” to be nominated. “It’s been a childhood dream of mine to release an album, so to receive four Grammy nominations is truly a blessing,” Hudson said in a statement.

She snagged a nod for R&B Album of the Year, Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (“Spotlight”), and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group (with “I’m His Only Woman”).

Cadillac Records SoundtrackThis weeks releases are highlighted by three spotlight albums, the first of which is Circus, which is supposed to be ’ comeback album (same thing they said about last year’s Blackout.) We’ve also got Akon back with his new one, Freedom, which features the track Right Now (Na Na Na) that you’ve been hearing all over the radio over the past couple of weeks. Last, the soundtrack to the latest Beyonce flick, Cadillac Records, is in stores as well. After listening, we think this one is worth checking out, as it has a really good vibe. After watching ‘s new video for “Rehab,” ask yourself these questions:

  1. Did Rihanna’s character actually know the guy (a.k.a. Justin Timberlake) on the bike, or did he randomly stop to use her shower?
  2. If you were to live in a desert, what pair of earrings would you wear?
  3. Who does the black hood/cap look better: Rihanna or Grace Jones?

Kanye West

Okay, I am now beginning to believe all tracks from ‘s upcoming album will be leaked prior to the November 24 drop date. Case in point, the latest released track “Amazing” featuring Young Jeezy, which showed up today. True to the rest of the album, Kanye uses Auto-Tune technology and tears it up once again. Download “Amazing” here, and be sure to check back tomorrow for the next track.

Kanye

Another leak of another great song from Kanye West’s upcoming album 808s and Heartbreak, this time from the one and only Broke Mogul. Like “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless,” the latest track “Any Way” is heavy on Auto-Tune technology. Unlike the previous songs, this one’s got a pumping beat. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for this album to hit the streets. Download “Any Way” and give us your thoughts.

Let’s face it, has blown a lot of people away with the release of “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless” from his upcoming album 808s and Heartbreak. In case you haven’t heard it yourself, you can download Heartless for free.

This new album has already caused a lot of buzz as people have been commenting on the heavy usage of Auto-Tune and the dark vibe. Whether you like the tracks or not, there is no doubt this album is going to be unlike anything he has ever done before. In the “Heartless” video, Kanye is focusing on the visual aspect. Teaming up with Hype Williams, Kanye and crew have released the video, featuring a new animation technique called rotoscope. Take a peek and then give us your thoughts.

It seems that all the leather and chains in the world won’t help you when your body is telling you that something’s wrong, as Rihanna found out during a recent performance in Australia. She was performing her hit Umbrella with Chris Brown, when she stumbled to the side of the stage and fainted. Chris tried to cover, continuing to sing his part, but you know he had to have felt quite a bit of concern over his fallen Boo. Towards the end of the video, you hear someone yelling for paramedics. Scary. Rihanna’s rep issued the following statement, basically saying that she is perfectly fine:

“It was very hot at the venue, so after Rihanna’s set was over, she went off stage to sit down, catch her breath and have some water. She is perfectly healthy and will be at her show tomorrow.”
