Details on the Jonas Brothers Movie
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Disney, Documentary, Music, Upcoming Releases,
If you got caught in the mania behind February’s Hannah Montana movie, consider this your warning. You now have just over six months to go until the Jonas Brothers have their turn.
Early next year, fans of Nick, Joe and Kevin will get their chance to see the hot boy band in glorious 3-D. The Jonas Brothers 3-D Concert Movie will be comprised of footage from their current Burning Up tour combined with behind-the-scenes stuff on the musicians’ lives. Based on the interest of Miley Cyrus’ outing, Disney could expect to see ticket sales in the neighborhood of $30 million on opening weekend alone.
The Jonas Brothers will rock the theaters on February 27, 2009.

Valkyrie Gets a New Release Date
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Action, Drama, Period, Political, Filmmaking, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
After weeks and weeks of delayed production, the upcoming Tom Cruise film Valkyrie has a new release date. Now, the flick is scheduled to hit theaters February 13, 2009. Considering the subject matter, I’m sure it’s the perfect film for any romantic date…if you’re both into WWII.
Called “The Big One,” WWII is perhaps one of the most popular filmmaking subjects in all the world. This era is constantly re-visited in movies and many major Hollywood directors and actors have taken it on. The latest to do so is Tom Cruise, who has been somewhat absent from the movie scene lately.
So far, much of the buzz on the flick is negative. Many claim the film is terrible, which has prompted Cruise co-star Bill Nighy to step forward in the interests of damage control. Nighy, who will play General Friedrich Olbricht, says the movie has suffered from several production issues - but that’s the only thing wrong with the film. “We just shot some extra scenes,” Nighy told the press recently. “People are very excited about it.”

Spider-Man’s Venom Set for Spinoff
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sony, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Rumors,
Hero, schmero. Thanks to the popularity of Heath Ledger‘s Joker, Hollywood may soon be looking to exploit the audience’s love for much darker characters.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony is tossing around the idea of giving Venom his own film. Most probably remember the character as the villain played by Topher Grace in last year’s Spider-Man 3.
As for when we could see the spinoff in theaters is unknown. Right now, the studio is still trying to produce a suitable script. The execs also have to agree on a lead actor. Although Tobey Maguire was given a chance to play the webbed one, those behind the scenes are apparently nervous about Grace’s box office appeal. Fortunately, since Venom is technically a gooey substance and not necessarily a person, they could actually attach any person they want to the project. (Pun intended.)
Whether or not Venom gets off the ground, Sony still intends on producing Spider-Man 4. That installment is expected to debut in 2011.

Brangelina Babies Born…What’s Next?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Action, Adaptation, Casting, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Upcoming Releases,
Unless you managed to seal yourself in a cave the past few weeks, you know the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie twins have been born. This Hollywood power couple has never let grass grow under their feet - so what’s next for the industrious pair? Not much has been confirmed, but one thing is certain - these two just aren’t going to stop making headlines.
In case you haven’t heard the news, The Dark Knight is making money hand over fist (domestically, the film has already made well over an astronomical $300 million). It’s only natural that talk of a new Batman installment is already circulating.
None of those associated with the current Batman movies have said much about the possible flick, but one star from the past has stepped forward to put in her two cents. Julie Newmar, the iconic Catwoman who played opposite Adam West’s Batman, has nominated Angelina Jolie for her former role. “Angelina would own the part,” Newmar stated to the New York Daily News.

Marvin the Martian Landing in Theaters
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Animation, Family, Upcoming Releases,
Given the recent success of Alvin and the Chipmunks, other studios are now jumping on the live-action/CGI bandwagon.
Warner Bros. has just announced that Marvin the Martian will be the next cartoon character up for the big screen treatment. The Looney Tunes character - which was first introduced 60 years ago - will reportedly get his own Christmas-time feature.
Although Marvin’s plans to destroy the Earth were usually ruined by Bugs Bunny, it doesn’t appear the carrot chomper will be included in the adaptation. As the film is currently conceived, the white-gloved one will become trapped in a gift during his attempt to ruin the holiday.
No target date has been announced for the project.

How Much is Shia LaBeouf’s Absence Worth?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: DreamWorks, Paramount, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Celeb News, Celebrity Controversy, Filmmaking, Upcoming Releases,
Even though it appears Shia LaBeouf will no longer be blamed for his accident on Sunday, the actor’s collision will still have a costly effect on Transformer 2‘s production.
According to his rep’s last statement, the 22-year-old’s recuperating hand could keep him from the set for weeks. One Hollywood insider says this delay could mean a $200,000 blow to the studio…per day.
How much LaBeouf’s PR spin will cost him is unknown.

For Quantum of Solace, the White Stripes musician will be pair with Keys to deliver their version of a Bond theme song. Jack
White will produce and play drums on ‘Another Way to Die,’ a song he also wrote. Meanwhile, the Smokin’ Aces star will lend her vocals to the track.

Trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Warner Bros, Adaptation, Adventure, Science Fiction, Sequels, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,
Although I have watched every film in the series so far, I am admittedly not a die-hard Harry Potter fan. That said, the creepy trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has me pretty excited for the 6th installment.
In this clip, we see the young boy (Tom Riddle) who’ll eventually become the evil Lord Voldemort. Those thinking the young actor resembles Ralph Fiennes should know that it’s not just a result of good casting. Hero Fiennes-Tiffin is actually Ralph’s nephew.
Half-Blood Prince hits theaters on
July 17.
