Remake News: Conan the Barbarian, The First Star and More

Conan the Barbarian: Jason Momoa is the man who will likely step into Arnold Schwarzenegger’s old loincloth. The Stargate Atlantis hunk is currently in talks to front a reboot of Conan the Barbarian, a 1982 entry starring California’s current governor. In the actioner, Momoa, as the title character, would avenge the deaths of his father and tribe. (It’s a role Twilight‘s Kellan Lutz was also vying for.) Filming will begin this March in Bulgaria.

Clash of the Titans: Although the movie will be released two months from now, it hasn’t yet been decided whether Clash of the Titans will be available in 3D. Warner Bros. will be screening a 3D-conversion of the 2D-shot film soon and announce their decision shortly. Clash hits screens on March 26.

The First Star: Who knew Chris Rock was such a big fan of French cinema? In 2007, he wrote/produced/directed/starred in I Think I Love My Wife, a remake of a French film. Now Rock is planning to develop an English version of La premiere etoile (The First Star). In the comedy, a working-class black family upsets a snooty resort when they embark on a ski trip. At this point, Chris is only set to write and produce the film.

Yellow Submarine: Robert Zemeckis may have found four passengers for his motion-captured Yellow Submarine update. Actors Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell are in the lead to play the foursome originally voiced by The Beatles. A Beatles tribute band will be used to help film - not sing in - sequences involving musical numbers.
