Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, and Peter Jackson on the set of 'The Hobbit'Ian McKellen made a deal with Elijah Wood to stop him playing punk rock songs when they were filming The Hobbit.

The 73-year-old screen legend wasn't a fan of the 31-year-old actor's choice of music when they were in the make-up trailer together, so had to find a compromise which worked for them both.

"We brokered a deal, where he could have 15 minutes of music, then I could have 15 minutes of no music," McKellen told Empire.

The star had a great time reprising his role as Gandalf the wizard for the movie - a prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy - but admits some of the modern shooting techniques left him in tears. In the film, Gandalf is a huge man and in order to make the scenes with the diminutive hobbits and dwarves look convincing McKellen had to film his scenes on his own, and the process depressed him:

Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham LincolnDaniel Day-Lewis has been hailed as the World's Greatest Actor, but that still doesn't necessarily stop some folks from nitpicking his performances - most recently of which is the tone of voice he opted for with his potrayal of Abraham Lincoln.

"I still don't like the sound of Daniel Day Lewis's Lincoln voice... It's flat, undistinctive, unimpressive... It's hard to describe what I was looking to hear, but this isn't it. And I dearly love the voices that Lewis has given us over the years. The fault, of course, is [Steven] Spielberg's -- he didn't push hard enough, he let well enough alone," wrote Hollywood Elsewhere blogger Jeffrey Wells.

Wells isn't the only one to raise an eyebrow over Day-Lewis' decision for a high-pitched voice in Spielberg's Lincoln, which is perhaps what prompted the actor to defend his decision:

Stephen Colbert set to make an appearance in 'The Hobbit'

Political satirist and funnyman Stephen Colbert will be appearing in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. The confirmation comes after Colbert had hinted at the cameo in Playboy's upcoming November issue: "Peter Jackson invited me to the set last year... I flew out and watched them shoot some scenes and went to some locations. I saw a 25-minute cut, and it was amazing. Jackson knows I'm a big fan of the films." When asked whether or not he would be in it himself, Colbert smiled and answered, "Could be."

There's no word yet as to who he will play, but fans of Colbert will have to wait until the second part of the trilogy to see him don the Middle Earth garb.

Liam HemsworthLiam Hemsworth has suffered an injury on the set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

The actor has revealed he was injured during a dramatic stunt on the set of the second big screen adaptation of the popular trilogy in Atlanta, Georgia last week. "I twisted my knee. I try to just fight through it. There's so many people standing around waiting for you to do your thing. You feel sort of obligated not to let everyone down. There's a bunch of action in this one. All of the characters have much more action than they did in the first one," he told USA Today.

The 22-year-old Australian actor also revealed he adopted a healthier diet to slim down for the new movie, which began filming last month: "It's The Hunger Games. My character needs to look hungry. A little bit."

Liam, who is also filming the thriller Paranoia, said he is looking forward to taking a break as he has spent much of the last year working. "I haven't had a break in about a year. I've kind of shot one film to the other. And have had to prepare for each while shooting another. It's been a tremendous workload. But I feel so lucky to be where I am. I'm so thankful," he said.

The Great GatsbyPrince and Lady Gaga are writing songs for The Great Gatsby soundtrack.

The "Purple Rain" hitmaker and the "Poker Face" star reportedly approached director Baz Luhrmann about working on the musical accompaniments to his forthcoming film - which stars Leonardo DiCaprio Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher - cast member Adelaide Clemens has claimed.

"They have some new music that's going to be added to the film... Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz and are writing songs for the film, and I don't think Warner Bros. are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door," Adelaide said.

However, Adelaide refused to explain any further, so it is unclear whether the pair will submit songs separately or together: "I don't know if I'm allowed to say that."

Malin Akerman was star-struck when she met Tom Cruise. The 34-year-old actress couldn't believe it when she was cast alongside the Hollywood legend for Rock of Ages and was nervous about meeting him for the first time but she quickly struck up a bond with Tom.

"I still get excited by working with big names. You have that initial moment of, 'Oh my goodness, I'm going to work with Tom Cruise!' And then you meet him and in 10 minutes you realize you're both just in this together, two actors who are equally as nervous and excited to be on a new journey. And star-struck feelings go away and you become partners in crime. My dream now is to work on a big film with Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett," said Malin, who had to stick her tongue in the actor's ear during one memorable scene.

RoboCop remake

Fans looking forward to the new RoboCop remake will have to hold out a little bit longer to see Joel Kinnaman portray the eponymous cyborg. Sony and MGM have announced that they're pushing the film's original August 9, 2013 release date to February 7, 2014 in order to allow more time for special effects and postproduction work.

Perhaps as slight compensation for the delay, the studio released a new photo from the set (seen above): the reveal of RoboCop's bike!
