Halo 2Anyone who has played Halo 2 on Xbox Live has surely come across at least one cheater and knows how annoying they can be. Cheaters ruin the game play for everyone in general, not just in the game but overall all. How so? By way of auto updates. Every time some punk finds a “hack” for the game and starts ruining the experience for the rest of us, Bungie releases one of these famed auto updates. As you can imagine or experienced, this is highly annoying – so what’s Bungie’s stance on cheaters? Aside from banning every single cheater they see and rolling out updates, Bungie is also working with the Xbox Live Team to enforce the Code of Conduct and also track in-game feedback. This means that a simple banning from Halo 2 for that account is not the only thing in their arsenal of tools against cheaters. Currently more than 2,600 “gamers” have been banned by Bungie – which seems like a small number compared to the over half-million Halo 2 gamers today. The cheating seems to be bigger than ever and with the current new map released, we are sure to see this even more – good news is that Bungie will be releasing a new update in the second week of July, one week after the new maps being released. The good thing about this timing is that the new maps can only be played on Custom game types via Xbox Live – meaning the only cheaters you’ll see are the ones you know and are on your “friends” list.

Doom 3 Review Playfeed The computer game Doom is one of the most important events in 3d computer graphics and it was instrumental in creating a demand for 3d games that eventually lead to the development of the Playstation, 3d accelerator cards and Direct X. So the development of Doom 3 is not and easy task to take on. This is made of course by iD Software the game company that is directly responsible for the creation and popularization of the first person shooter concept.

Halo 2

The day is almost upon us when we shall all be able to own the newest Halo 2 Multiplayer maps. Until that day, we can enjoy more great videos courtesy of TeamXbox. They now have three new movies: Backwash, Gemini, and Terminal. I know I can’t wait to load up those new packs into my Xbox and try them out on Live.  Here are some quick descriptions of the new maps for your reading pleasure:

Backwash

Backwash is covered with a thick mist that has nestled within the valley of a large swamp. The audio of the map is very well done and the rainfall and ambient sound effects give players a great impression of a living, breathing eco-system while creating an intriguing mood for the game’s action to take place. If you remember the swamp-like level of Halo, you’ll have a good idea what to expect from Backwash. A medium sized map, Backwash is a great map for playing Slayer matches.

Gemini

Gemini is a relatively small map that hovers in space high above the lights of High Charity. Gemini is meant as a place of refuge and meditation for the senior prelates in the Prophet hierarchy. Because of Gemini’s small size, it is best suited for Slayer matches composed of a low number of players.

Terminal

Terminal may now be a battlefield, but it was once a place where people spent their leisure time shopping, enjoying lunch with friends or just hanging out. While this might sound like a mall, today it is anything but a place to go with friends; that is unless your friends are looking for a fight. Located on New Mombasa, Terminal is a large map filled with plenty of dangers including an active monorail that players can walk across, and maybe get splattered by a passing train if they aren’t paying attention. Its large size lends itself best to games of single flag CTF as well as Assault matches, but don’t rule out Team Slayer.

DescriptionStarting Sunday morning, Circuit City will be having a blowout sale on select Video Games for $9.99 each.  The sale is much like the one they had last year where games were only $4.99, but it seems that they are a little more organized this year because many stores have already pulled the games off the floor to prevent people from buying them early. To see the game list check out the post in our forums. The madness starts on July 3.

Advanced Warfighter Tom Clancy’s latest creation finally has an official name – Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. The game will feature a new way to lead your team and will have advanced technology in all aspects of the equipment used. The game will be released this holiday season for every major console including the PC – sorry, no Mac version. Each version will offer something exclusive to that console – reminds me of Soul Calibur. Here’s a little snip of the background to the game:

The game is set in the year 2013 in Mexico City, which has been overthrown by an insurgence of rebels. The famed Ghosts must head into the capital to squash a rebellion and retake control of the metropolis. Gamers will lead their squad on missions to “save the president of the United States, recover stolen nuclear codes, and eliminate a vicious band of renegade soldiers hell-bent on unleashing catastrophe.”

Area 51There has been mixed reviews about Midway’s latest FPS Area 51. Some hold this game as just another shooter while others go as far as claiming this is the next Halo. Want the truth? The truth may be harder to uncover and the road to it certainly isn’t without its share of conspiracies add that to a montage of people and creatures out to kill you in more ways than bullets can. According to the box, the U.S. Army has received a distressed call from; you’ve guessed it, Area 51 where a viral outbreak has forced the facility to shut down and a quarantine to be called. You play the part of Ethan Cole, a specialist in a HAZMAT team who has been sent in to investigate the mess. Easier said than done, right?

Halo 2 Last week I found Halo 2 in a Limited Collectors Edition tin a pawn show for $15 bucks and I honestly have not taken it out of my Xbox since then. The limited edition comes with a making of Halo 2 DVD and a metal tin.  This is a but of a surprise since my friend and I have had a running joke going about how long this game was hyped by hard core Xbox fans. Right now I think it was a little harsh because I have been blown away by how much fun this game is.

Warlock MapIn anticipation for next month’s release of the Halo 2 Multiplayer map, Team Xbox has a short movie showing off the Warlock map and its fast action game play. If you don’t have Xbox Live, chances are you have not had the pleasure of playing in this extremely fun map. Here’s a quick description of Warlock:

Warlock, a small to mid-sized indoor arena set in ancient Forerunner ruins, offers ample opportunities for a variety of game types such as Territories, Slayer, Team Slayer and more.

Check out the short movie and see a taste of what’s in store next month.

Halo Movie

We reported the other day that the Halo script was finalized and being handed off to movie studios for consideration. Well, it seems that Microsoft and Bungie had some pretty crazy demands which are making studios give them nothing but an activated plasma grenade.  Five studios have dropped off the line-up of possibilities so far and only 2 big guys remain, Fox and Universal. They are still in the game pending talks with Bungie and Microsoft about their far fetched money expectations.

Even studio executives, known for their lavish spending, winced at Microsoft’s demands, including a $10 million upfront fee for rights, approval over the cast and director, and 60 first-class plane tickets for Microsoft representatives and their guests to the movie’s premiere.
