With recent garage sale finds such as a Zelda 3 prototype, garage sales have become a beacon to bargain hunters and game collectors. GameFly is Ready For Next Gen

So what if you don’t own the systems yet…you might as well start reserving the PS3 and Wii launch titles! Gamefly.com, one of the leaders in online gaming rental, has recently added PS3 and Wii tabs to their site meaning that you can currently put your favorite PS3 and Wii games at the top of your queue so that you don’t miss out when they ship. Somehow, I’m guessing they might run into some shortages when these games first come out.
Currently, GameFly.com is sporting 26 titles for the Playstation 3 and 27 titles for the Wii. (All, of course, “coming soon”) The full list of titles available can be found after the jump.

DS In A Half-Shell, Turtle Power!

Now that you’ve been convinced to buy a DS twice (you HAD to have the original DS when it came out, and now you’ve GOT to get the DS Lite), what are you going to do with that DS Phat? Give it to your girlfriend? Sell it for a third of what you paid on eBay? Or how about putting your creative juices to work and coming up with the coolest DS mod ever!
4ColorRebellion is reporting on a DS owner who painted up their original DS to look like a Koopa Troopa shell, and the results are absolutely stunning and gorgeous. Just keep in mind 4Color’s words of wisdom:
Please do not confuse this mod with an actual Koopa Troopa shell. Jumping on it repeatedly while on a stairway will not help you rack up infinite lives. It will just piss off your parents.

New Super Mario Codes for the Masochistic

So you’ve made your way through New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. You’ve defeated Lord Bowser, you’ve gone back and opened all the worlds…you’ve even collected all 120 coins and opened every background. What’s a Mario obsessed gamer to do?
Well, 4ColorRebellion is here to help. Now you can access Challenge Mode, a new mode of the game that incorporates forced scrolling, so you can’t go back to collect anything you miss without re-playing a level. To enter this mode, simply press Start on the map screen, then enter the following button sequence:

Now we just have to wait a little for the first hardcore gamer to post the video of beating Challenge Mode on YouTube. At the rate folks are tearing through this game, it shouldn’t be long.

New Videos of WarioWare Smooth Moves (Wii) In Action

The good folks over at GoNintendo.com have posted some videos from the recent demos over in Spain. Watch someone actually play WarioWare and look like a doofus doing it!! (Which is, of course, half the fun…I’m really looking forward to this game).
Overall, the controls appear to be quite responsive to each of the different actions. Of course, the controller can pick up major shakes and slices, but the part where he twists the key in the door would appear to require a very fine level of resolution. Also, there are some micro-games on display here that use the pointer functionality, and they appear to do quite well also. Really, this just makes me want to get my hands on the controller again. For those of us that couldn’t make it to E3, we can only hope that Nintendo continues bringing this show on the road and spreading the good word of the Wii!

Bit Generations Site Up (in Japanese)

We reported earlier on how Japanese members of Club Nintendo (those lucky bastards!) would be able to test the latest in retro-GBA games, the Bit Generation Series. It seems that the series is getting more serious, and perhaps the testing is done! - Nintendo of Japan has just launched the official site for Bit Generations, which can be found here. The good news is it’s got some pretty pictures and icons for the new games. The bad news, of course, is that you won’t be able to read it unless you can read Japanese.
According to Joystiq, the site says that you’ll be able to purchase the first set of games for about $17 (so look for it in that price range on eBay!), on July 17th, and the second set will show up about 2 weeks later for the same price. Here’s hoping that these games don’t have a ton of Japanese menus. It looks like they could be great fun to try out once they make it over the Pacific.

Do you have a desire to play your original NES games on the go? Can’t be tasked with remembering where you put all those tiny cartridges Nintendo has re-released your favorites on? Ben Heck has got the solution for you! Ben has been known previously for his portable reincarnations of the NES, PSOne, and the Nintendo 64. Ben claimed his fame by taking the guts of your “sit on the TV stand consoles”, and placing them into custom made portable enclosures! His latest creation is a portable NES known as the nPod. The unit runs off your original NES cartridges and is roughly the thickness of two stacked cartridges. The nPod includes a headphone jack and runs off 4 AA batteries. While this thing is amazing and would let me get more use out of the 15 or so NES cartridges at home, I’ll be sticking with my DS Lite. However if this gets your gaming thumbs twitching, then shoot Ben an email, since he is potentially selling these for around $250.

GameTrailers.com put together a quick video of the Top Ten Video Game Weapons on YouTube. The list ranges across the past decade of gaming, and includes some of my favorite video game weapons. The weapons on the list aren’t just limited to shooters, as you will find items like the “red shell” from Mario Kart, as well as a throwback to the original Metroid’s Ice Beam. The list does a good job of including at least a few of everyone’s favorites, but what changes would you make to the list? Sniper rifle, anyone?
