She might love her curves, but Lily Cole hates her “mottled purple” legs.
The red-haired model would love to have a natural tan, but admits that bronzed limbs might look strange teamed with her pale face and tresses.
“I would like better coloration on my legs. A permanent olive, perhaps—although that might be a bit extreme with my coloring. But I would definitely like a little less of that English, mottled purple thing that makes it necessary to wear tights all the time.”
Lily’s big modeling break came in 2003, when she starred in Italian Vogue. Her slim physique was widely commented upon, forcing her mother to deny rumors she was too thin, but she has been sporting a seemingly fuller figure of late.
“Yes, actually if you had asked me a few years ago what I would change about my appearance I would have wished for boobs—but I got those!” the 21 year-old said.
The model-turned-actress has grown to love her unusual appearance, but admits she was not always so happy to stand out from the crowd: “When I was younger. I can’t remember what it was specifically—my height, my hair or just features I didn’t like. I was like most teenagers. I wanted to look more conventional—to just be the pretty girl in school.”

Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Shows, Models, Rumors, Women,
Thanks to the comp card that was included in her agency’s show package, a flurry of rumors circled around a very 5-month pregnant Jourdan Dunn and whether or not she would be gracing the catwalks anytime soon.
A representative from Women in New York has cleared up the matter and has confirmed that the 19 year-old model will not be working this season.
Dubbed last year’s Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, Dunn is due this December.

Maggie Gyllenhaal “mentally disconnected” when she agreed to model underwear for Agent Provocateur.
The Hollywood actress couldn’t believe she was fronting the raunchy campaign for the French lingerie company so soon after giving birth to her daughter: “I never think of it as modeling—it is just like playing a character. I mentally disconnected when I agreed to the Agent Provocateur campaign. Then, suddenly, I’m in my underwear on top of a piano adjusting my garter belt for a picture, having just had a baby. I thought, ‘What? How did I end up here?’”

Daisy Lowe for Swarovski
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models, Sales, Women, Jewelry,
Now that fashion designers are on television, it’s no surprise that models like Daisy Lowe are branching out, creating a jewelery range with Swarovski.
The British model has teamed by with the luxury crystal company for a capsule line which will be available from January.
She told W: “It’s four pieces—a necklace, bracelet, ring and set of earrings. They’re kind of magical in a dark, romantic way. I’ve incorporated black and white, star and moon crystals, and multiple strands of chains. I wanted it to be about the earth, moon, and planetary movements, all that kind of weird stuff.”
The 20-year-old star, who has modeled for Chanel, Vivienne Westwood and Agent Provocateur, also refused to rule out creating a clothing collection, but admitted she has no immediate plans to do so: “I’m so in love with fashion and playing with clothes, so I would never say no to designing fashion.”
Daisy isn’t the only model to show an interest in creating accessories—last month, Amber Le Bon revealed she was considering going to university to study jewelery making. She said, “You have to take every opportunity you can. I have loads of designs on paper and there is a really good jewelery course at London’s Central Saint Martins. A friend of mine has just graduated from there, so I may look into that.”
Jessica Simpson a Runway Model?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Shows, Models,
Has Jessica Simpson traded in concerts stages for the runway?
Although her name is attached to a line of shoes, handbags, perfume and lingerie, the catwalk gig is not something we’re used to seeing from Simpson. Thankfully, someone allowed her to use her best serious face in Ozlem Suer’s fashion show. (You can see more stills after the jump.)
Her appearance in Paris was, of course, documented for a reality project. Jessica, who has had highly-documented struggles with weight, is currently filming The Price of Beauty for VH1. In the series, the 29-year-old will travel the globe to chat with various women about the beauty industry. (Cue her Proactiv commercials now.)
No word yet when Price will debut.

Lily Cole Loves Her Curves
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Shows, Health & Beauty, Models, Women,
Doll-faced model Lily Cole is thrilled curvy figures are finally being admired.
The 21-year-old supermodel, who is 6ft tall and a UK dress size six, says the fashion industry will always be obsessed with size but thinks that curvaceous frames are beginning to be more widely accepted.
“There’s definitely still a fascination with being thin and skinny in the modeling world, but I also think there’s a celebration of curves. I have breasts. I love my breasts. There are models now who have more curves, and that’s seen as a good thing. I’ve never studied the correlation between the decades of plenty and the size of models, but it’s interesting, for sure. I was never asked to lose weight. I’m assuming people who are less successful are the ones who are told they need to be teeny to be so.”
The stunning redhead, who starred alongside the late Heath Ledger in his final movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, revealed she became a model accidentally and wants to try her hand at other movie roles next.
She explained to Britain’s Sunday Times, “People change direction all the time—there’s a lot of value in that. I fell into modeling. It wasn’t a choice, not that I was forced into it. I just got asked one day to do it, and I believe in taking opportunities.”

Celebrities’ and Designers’ New York Night Out

Cindy Crawford, P. Diddy, and Hugh Jackman are set to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out in New York. A host of Hollywood celebrities and style icons will join forces for an evening of extravagant shopping events, shows, and parties across the US city—let’s hope that the world doesn’t implode when it happens.
The occasion—a celebration of New York being at the forefront of global fashion—has been founded by Vogue magazine, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, tourism group NYC, and Company and the City of New York.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour said:
“Little did I think when the idea of Fashion’s Night Out was first dreamed up this past March during the Paris collections that we would have over 700 and counting retailers, designers, and brands joining us on the night of September 10. Of course, I’ve always known the New York fashion industry to rise brilliantly to a challenge, but I am absolutely thrilled, awed, and more than a little proud that it has reacted so brilliantly to this initiative. There is so much planned that we could shop till dawn and still not see and do everything.”
