Turtles Inspire Gisele Bundchen
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Models, News, Sales, Women, Footwear,
Gisele Bundchen‘s sandal collection is inspired by marine life.
The supermodel, who endorses the footwear made by Ipanema, is donating profits from her new range to the Tamar Project, an organization which studies and protects sea turtles, after becoming fascinated by the endangered creatures:
“It all began when I was at my home in Costa Rica. I saw the turtles were dying. These animals are essential to marine life. They’re part of the ecosystem. That’s why we started looking for a project that supported the continued existence of the species. We hit on the Tamar project. The entire new Gisele Bundchen Ipanema collection is based on marine life.”
Despite admitting she is not a designer, the Brazilian beauty insists she is heavily involved in the creative process for coming up with the footwear. She added to Hello! magazine, “I do as much as I can. It’s a collaboration. I’m not a designer, but I throw myself into everything else. I come up with ideas, I meet the designers, I tell them what I want and once everything comes together, I give the final approval. The shoes have sentimental value because they reflect the things that matter to me.”

Britney Spears Releases Unedited Candies Ads
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty, News, Rumors, Girls, Women, Footwear,
Unlike a certain someone in denial, the princess of pop knows that she’s got some flaws and isn’t afraid to share them with the world.
Following supermodel Claudia Schiffer‘s footsteps, Britney Spears prompted footwear designer Candies to release the unedited version of her latest ad campaign. In the images, Spears’s waist, thighs, and bottom have all been trimmed down, in addition to smoothing her skin and removing cellulite.
The only problem is… she still looks great in the unedited images! Despite that, this is a great move for her—hopefully this trend will now continue to ripple in the fashion industry.

If your inner hippie has ever struggled to look fashionable, these new heels are for you.
Although you may have already tossed out those Birkenstocks from your college years, Stella McCartney is offering a new way to get that corky comfort back. For a mere $625, you can now combine the look of a stiletto with the cushion of a sandal. (Of course, this being a Stella design, the “leather” seen here is of the faux variety.)

Madonna May Design Line for Macy’s
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Women, Accessories, Footwear,
Could we soon see Madonna in a commercial with Martha Stewart and Jessica Simpson?
According to Women’s Wear Daily, the singer may become the latest celebrity connected to a product line sold at Macy’s. The 51-year-old is reportedly nearing a deal that would have her name linked to contemporary women’s collection.
Potential items sold would include accessories, clothing, intimates and shoes. Brand names in contention for the new lines include “Material Girl” (that seems too easy a choice to me) and “Truth or Dare” (for the lingerie department).
Three years ago, Madonna also launched “M by Madonna,” which sold in H&M stores.

First Look: Louise Goldin For Topshop
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Sales, Women, Footwear,
Judging by photos of her first shoe collection for Topshop, Louise Goldin is still very much inspired by the science-fiction fare.
Set to hit Topshop boutiques this February and March, Goldin’s killer footwear resemble those that appeared at Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2009.
The thought of pairing these statement-making heels with Spring/Summer 2010 looks makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Imagine them with those gorgeous Lanvin dresses or swapping Alexander Wang’s animal print shoes for these! Will you be sporting these alluring-yet-deadly shoes?

Quote of the Day: Christian Louboutin on His Slutty Customers
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Rumors, Sales, Women, Footwear,
“There’s the sexy side, and then there is the Parisian side, which is complementary but also the opposite. If you are very chic you might not need an extra drop of chicness, so you go for the sexy side and buy my shoes because they are… tarty. We get very smart women coming in and buying a pair to feel a little more sluttish. And then, thank God, we also get the hookers coming in the store, who buy my shoes because they are superchic. You see, whatever you have, if you add a drop of the opposite, then it just becomes a little more sexy.”

Transformers Inspires Louise Goldin
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Sales, Women, Dresses, Footwear,
Fashion designer Louise Goldin has once again collaborated with Topshop for their current Fall/Winter ‘09 collection, and she’s going sci-fi with the knitwear!
“The collection was inspired by Transformers and robots. I have a collection of Transformer memorabilia, both old and new; I find it very inspirational. I wanted to create a range of cool jumpers; I emblazoned some jumpers with robot artworks, and I looked at the various style lines and colors from the body armor of Transformer action figures to create dresses, leggings and tops. A particular favorite - the robot jumper with the leggings, and of course the shoes which will be coming soon!”

Fashion Police: X Factor Contestant Steps Out in New Uggs
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, News, Women, Footwear, Boots,
The impossible has been done: UGG boots got uglier. I didn’t think it feasible until I found this picture of X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon, who stepped out in this season’s new UGG boots.
Not only are the boots monochrome striped (Beetlejuice, anyone?), but they are knitted! I refuse to accept the “They’re comfortable” excuse—there’s absolutely no reason to be caught wearing these in public, especially if they look like winter socks.
(Be sure to check out other questionable fashion finds.)
