Katie Holmes almost took the lead role in Orange is the New Black.
The former Dawson's Creek star was approached by creator Jenji Kohan to play Piper Chapman - the bisexual drug-smuggling prisoner played by Taylor Schilling - in the Netflix drama but turned it down because she had other commitments.
"I'm a big fan of hers. You know, I met with her. [Katie] had other things to do. And also in the beginning, no one knew what this was," Jenji told E! Online.
While she initially turned down the program, the cast of the drama would love Katie to make a guest appearance on the show. When asked who Katie could play, Taylor said, "[Katie] could be friends with Lorna or like Lorna's Boston sister."
And Kate Mulgrew - who plays Red - joked the brunette beauty would have to be careful if she did end up behind bars at Litchfield Prison: "She better watch herself. Pretty girls have to watch out in prison."

Kate Mara Warns Family About On-Screen Nudity

Kate Mara's family don't approve of her stripping on screen.
The 30-year-old actress is currently starring in the Netflix original series House of Cards alongside Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright and admits she has to warn her parents if she takes her clothes off in any of the scenes:
"They [my parents] don't love it that I occasionally have to take off certain items of clothing. We sort of have an unspoken rule of, if my character on House of Cards or during a photo-shoot I have to be in my underwear or something, I sort of send out a family text about it. 'Beware of the first 30 seconds of House of Cards - you will be disturbed.'"
Kate has always tried to reassure her family about her on-screen antics and says her phrase "It's just acting dad" has become so popular in her household, her father has named his racehorse after it.

Things are going well for Netflix's production team. Even before airing the political drama's second season, the entertainment rental company has greenlit its third season - despite originally planning it for only two!
House of Cards - which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright - will now run lon ger than producers planned, with both Netflix and the showrunners in agreement over the extended adjustment. The series was the first of Netflix's original content - subsequently followed by Orange Is the New Black and the return of Arrested Development - and based off a British series of the same name.

Marvel heroes aren't just invading our theaters these days - they'll be featured on any and every device which carries a Netflix app!
Folks at Disney - who have owned Marvel characters since 2009 - are making history with a new deal which sees them teaming up with Netflix to produce four comic book series which lead to a mini-series starring characters from the aforementioned four series. The first series will follow Daredevil; subsequently, the next series will star Jessica Jones; the third and fourth series will center on Iron Fist and Luke Cage, respectively.
Each series - which all focus on superheroes in New York's "gritty" Hell's Kitchen - will have thirteen episodes, culminating in a mini-series: Marvel's The Defenders.
"This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel's brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty. Netflix Contemplates Future ‘Arrested Development’ Seasons
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Comedy, Netflix, Netflix Original, News, Renewals,
If you're finally done binge-watching Arrested Development's fourth season and back in the real world (and by real world, I mean the internet), you'll be happy to know that there may be more episodes featuring the Bluths in the future.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings previously threw out the idea of seasons following the one his company produced, on the grounds that "We don't anticipate being able to do seasons five, six, seven. We have less of a stake in it. Arrested Development is a wildly successful tactic as opposed to fundamental to the strategy." But now that season four has aired and he's probably seeing more dollar signs benefits in producing later seasons, Hastings has somewhat retracted his statement: "Arrested is unique because that’s really up to the talent. If the talent were willing to do more… I’m sure we would be willing."

Just a quick PSA: Netflix has released the fourth season of Arrested Development earlier this morning. That means that you can spend the rest of your Memorial Day weekend enjoying the long-awaited final chapter in the story of the Bluth family. It's taken seven years to get here, so we won't blame you if you go on a bit of a binge, powering through all 15 episodes. Arrested Deelopment aired on Fox between 2003 and 2006, and was one of those shows plagued by low ratings, which later developed a massive following through DVD sales. Due to the increased popularity and demand from the fans, Netflix snapped up the rights, making it the newest Netflix Original.
