Emanuel Ungaro hires Lindsay Lohan as an adviserJust when the rumors of hiring Lindsay Lohan at Ungaro died down, they have now been confirmed as she has been appointed “artistic adviser” for House of Emanuel Ungaro.

The Mean Girls actress, who already has her own range of leggings and fake tan, will work alongside Spanish designer Estrella Archs for the French fashion house and will be giving her own input on designs and styles.

Of her new role, Lindsay said, “I kind of oversee everything Archs does, while working with her. Different generations have different ideas.”

The 23-year-old star also added she is confident of taking Ungaro to a “younger place” with a harder fashion edge.

Designer Amy Molyneux, who already works for the French label, said of the appointment, “Everything we’re going to get is going to be a plus. I think the noise level around Lindsay will be very, very big. She does have an eye for fashion. I like the way she dresses. Her house is a mini-department store. She changes outfits five times a day.”

Again, where is the praise for the stylists who actually dress these celebrities, stocking that “mini-department store” with the clothes?

It had been reported Ungaro’s head designer had threatened to quit the fashion house if Lindsay was appointed; however, he recently said he would be staying “for now.”

Due in stores November 14, the entire collection will feature both men’s and women’s shoes, bags, and accessories.

Manolo Blahnik at the Sex and the City premiereShoe designer Manolo Blahnik is in a love-hate relationship with Sex and the City.

“If people talk to me about Sex and the City, I get sick…It’s sweet but it becomes too much and I don’t feel comfortable. I have never wanted to be a celebrity designer.”

Although he gripes about the show that made his name synonymous with expensive, fashionable, well-made shoes, the British designer admits that it does help keep the line in business.

“Well, we had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid satin shoes [worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie]. That shoe saved our company.”

Talk about being grateful.

Prince performs at Matthew Williamson's 10th anniversary showBritish fashion designer Matthew Williamson‘s career highlight was Prince performing at his show.

The highly-regarded fashion designer says that the most rewarding moment of his working life was being asked by the eccentric pop star if he could sing during his renowned 2007 catwalk show, which received a standing ovation.

“Coming in at number one for me would be my 10th-anniversay show for Spring/Summer ‘08. Just 48 hours before kickoff, my PR received a phone call from Prince’s people, saying he wanted to perform at my show.”

As excited as he was, the 37-year-old designer admits that he was unprepared for the pop star’s unusual demands: “He wanted a stage to be built and we were told he needed a white room backstage. We had a black room, but, apparently, he wouldn’t go into that. So we literally staple-gunned white over black fabric. On the day, his manager called to say he was still in bed at London’s Dorchester hotel with an hour to go. Then, just when the show was about to happen, I saw Prince walking in. There was no rehearsal. He just went and sat in the front row. And when his track came on, up he got with his mike, and his girls came out and did their performance down the skinny little runway.”

Heidi Klum and Karl Lagerfeld

“I don’t know why [Karl] said that. Maybe he wanted to be in the paper? Maybe he doesn’t understand what I do? It’s bizarre to me that he says he doesn’t know who I am because he’s dressed me in the past. I’ve worn . Not even Chanel—his line. Lagerfeld doesn’t just send random things everywhere, so it was a big thing for me [to wear his label] to the CFDA Awards a few years ago. I don’t know how he missed that, when he dressed me that time. But you know, it’s cool. People can say whatever they want to say. You can’t please everybody, and you can’t live your life wanting to please everybody either.”

-Heidi Klum talking to Page Six magazine about Karl Lagerfeld’s strange comments about her. (The designer previously said, “I don’t know her. Claudia Schiffer doesn’t know her.”)

Jack Osbourne credits Pilates to his weight lossEvery Osbourne has an addiction of some sort: Kelly gets her fashion fix, Sharon enjoys the plastic surgery, and Jack Osbourne loves Pilates.

The star claims that there is no better way to keep in shape and credits the low-impact stretching exercise with keeping him trim: “I know it’s a bit camp, but I go to Pilates classes three times a week and I love it! I’m so toned now, it’s amazing. It’s very relaxing too. I’ve also been running and doing weights.”

Jack, 23, dropped 70lbs in 2005 and is determined to ensure he does not pile on the weight again. He sticks to a healthy diet of vegetables and rice, but does admit occasionally caving in to his cravings for pizza.

He added to Britain’s Closer magazine, “Girls seem to prefer me when I’m in shape. I’m seeing someone at the moment—she lives in Los Angeles. It’s nothing too serious though because my work schedule is so hectic that I don’t get to see her much. I love being in a relationship, but I never want to get married. Statistically speaking, I’d end up getting divorced, and I really don’t fancy that.”

Free Maghound Membership giveaway

We’ve been using MAGHOUND for a couple of months now on an evaluation basis, and we must say, we like the concept. The easiest way to describe it is to say it is like for magazines, but even that isn’t quite right. In a nutshell, when you join MAGHOUND, you choose a number of magazines that you’d like to receive each month. Let’s say, 3. Unlike traditional magazine subscriptions, though, if it turns out you don’t like a magazine, you just log in to your MAGHOUND account and replace it with something else.

Even better, if you subscribe to a magazine that only publishes every other month, then you also get to specify what substitute magazine you want to receive in the off months. You see, you are paying for three magazines per month, period. So if a magazine doesn’t print that month, you get to choose something else. It’s very cool, especially if you know there is an upcoming issue of a magazine that you definitely want. You can take a look at their complete magazine offerings to see what I mean.

Want in on the action? We are giving away TWO one-year subscriptions to the 3-per-month MAGHOUND plan, which would normally cost you $4.95 per month. Entering is simple - we will give one subscription away on Twitter, and the other on Facebook:

To enter the Twitter giveaway, be sure you are following Gear Live on Twitter, and tweet the following:

Anna Paquin as Sookie StackhouseNudity embracer Anna Paquin “feels bad” for women who don’t dress for their body shape.

The True Blood actress thinks that there is too much pressure on girls to wear fashionable clothes, meaning many resort to donning items which don’t suit them.

“I feel so bad for women who beat themselves up trying to wear clothes that aren’t really cut for bodies. Some women have those very straight, narrow boy bodies, but most of us don’t. Fashion should be about finding clothes that look right on your body. I want to say, ‘You know what? It’s not you. There’s nothing wrong with your body. This just wasn’t cut with a body in mind, at least not a real woman’s body.’”

Anna, 27, underwent a dramatic makeover for her role in the vampire series. She dyed her hair blonde, covered herself in fake tan and increased the amount of exercise she does as her character, Sookie Stackhouse, is often found in skimpy outfits.

She explained to British Elle, “I could write a guide-book to spray-tanning! I have a lady who comes to my house to spray me once a week. My job involves small outfits and being naked all the time, so I tend to exercise more now! But the costume designers were amazing—so loving in the way they took all our clothes away from us.”
