Giles DeaconAfter about a month of speculation, Giles Deacon has now been confirmed as Emanuel Ungaro’s new creative director.

The British designer will replace at the French fashion house, with his debut collection being presented during Paris Fashion Week in October, and he is confident about his new role.

“Yes, I’m totally aware and respectful of the pressure but at the same time, I’ve run my own business for eight years and worked in lots of places. I think as soon as you start worrying and thinking about that too much, you’re not concentrating on doing good work, which is the most important thing.”

Deacon - who is likely to stay away from the catwalk for the first two seasons - will continue to produce his own line and wants to bring his own touch to Ungaro.

“I obviously don’t want to infringe upon my own line, but I like things that are very feminine, lots of color, great prints, great quality, some unusual cuts. All of those things that I like in the world of fashion design I’m going to bring to what I feel is appropriate for the Ungaro woman.”

Marc Jacobs in Bang campaignFashion designer (and now occasional model) loves how the name of his new fragrance has a “sexual connotation.”

The designer is to release his latest men’s scent, entitled Bang, in July and is a huge fan of its moniker because it sounds so intimate and has different meanings.

“The name came to me first. We had been approached by Coty to do another men’s scent - we did one many years ago - and I was in the gym, and the name Bang came to me. As a word, it has so many connotations, including a sexual connotation. And I loved the immediacy and the sound of the word. For me, fragrance is always a multilayered process - Bang was the catalyst for how this fragrance came to be. You’re drawn to try it, to experience it.”

Jacobs appears almost naked in the advertising campaign for the fragrance and although he was initially reluctant to strip off, he was persuaded to do so by his business partner Robert Duffy:

Miranda Kerr wearing Jil Sander is to be the new face of Jil Sander.

The model - who is dating Orlando Bloom - says she is keen to do a “variety” of work within her career and has recently shot a campaign for the minimalist German fashion designer.

“It’s nice to have variety in my work. I don’t ever want to feel pigeon-holed. I still have more coming out this year - a Jil Sander campaign.”

The 27-year-old Australian beauty - who has already made runway appearances for Prada and Balenciaga, taken part in an avant-garde shoot for V Mag and a cover for i-D - is thought to have shot the campaign for this autumn.

Miranda - who wore Jil Sander to last year’s Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala in New York - has previously spoken about how she tries to stay in shape for her career but does indulge in the calorific treat on occasions: “I do eat healthily and am careful with my diet but not all the time. There are times when you want that piece of fried chicken. That’s my big weakness and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everything in moderation, that’s the trick.”

Georgia May Jagger in Chanel Resort 2011Karl Lagerfeld says is the perfect choice to model Chanel.

The creative director of the renowned fashion house was hugely impressed when the 18-year-old rising catwalk star modeled ‘s Cruise 2010 Saint-Tropez collection in Cannes last week and thinks it is the start of successful working union.

He told UK, “Miss Jagger is the modern girl. She is the girl of today. There is a total identification between her and the clothes. They could be her clothes. She is totally at home in Chanel. And that fits in the pattern of what Saint-Tropez can represent, what it is not really and yet what it can inspire.”

Georgia - the daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger and former model Jerry Hall - walked the catwalk in front of a star-studded audience, which included Vanessa Paradis, and Lady Amanda Harlech.

The British Model of the Year also appears in the lookbook for the new collection.
