Adam Levine ‘Cringed’ at Fragrance Offer
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Health & Beauty,
Adam Levine ''cringed'' when he was offered the chance to release a fragrance.
The 33-year-old Maroon 5 singer - who has previously expressed his distaste for celebrity scents - admits he wasn't keen until curiosity got the better of him.
"I'm not going to lie, I cringed the first time I heard. But at the end of the day, I thought that it was a cop-out to say, 'Oh, that's lame. I don't want to do that.' I love fashion; there are a lot of things I'd like to express creatively in the world. I like to think that I have decent taste, so why not try it and do a good version?"
But he insisted on remaining in control of the 222 perfumes throughout the design stages: "I've seen cool, sexy, inspiring things in fragrances. If I'm emulating those things, then I love it. If I'm not putting any effort into it, if I'm cashing in and just letting it go and having nothing to do with the creative process, I'm not interested."

Dannii Minogue is a Selfish Designer
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Accessories,
Dannii Minogue and Tabitha Somerset Webb are "selfish designers."
The Project D collaborators admitted they create clothes which they hope will suit their own individual shapes when working on the label and it was no different when they joined forces to design their new K Bag in association with Kenco Millicano.
"Even for Project D we design selfishly. You always design a dress that you want yourself or that you hope will look good on you and the bag is something that I wanted for myself, it's got lots of different compartments and then a clutch bag too. Tabitha has designed some beautiful hangbags over the years of which I have many and I travel a lot so can't take them all with me, even now my partner Kris [Smith] rolls his eyes at my suitcases and says, 'You're not taking all of that' so hopefully the new K Bag will solve some of my problems," Dannii said.
Tabitha gave birth to Betsy Belle in November 2011 while Dannii has 20-month-old Ethan with partner Kris and the pair think becoming mothers has also affected their designs.

Stella McCartney Inspired by Union Jack
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News,
Stella McCartney changed the colors of the Union Jack for Team Great Britain's Olympics kit to ensure the athletes feel "identifiable."
The fashion designer wanted to respect the symbol's "beauty" while using it as the main focus on the Adidas sportswear for the London 2012 Olympics, but she amended the color scheme to avoid making the sign feel "overused" in the lead up to the spectacle: "I was also aware of the fact that it's something that might be overused in the build-up to the Olympics, in taxis, on cushions and mugs, so I wanted to do something different with it - but that was still respectful of its beauty. Actually, the colors of the Union Jack are similar to a lot of other flags and the athletes really wanted to feel identifiable as Team GB, so I just used different colors to say the same thing."

Miranda Kerr tries to have "fun" when she is on the runway.
The Australian beauty - best known as a model for underwear brand Victoria's Secret - admits she does get nervous when she has to parade her body in front of people, but makes an effort to enjoy herself.
"For me personally I try not to think about it too much and just try to have fun with it and have a good time. I love runway, especially Victoria's Secret runways, they're really fun, we get to express our personality and have fun up there on stage. I also like studio shoots too, they're really fun. It's like working with family."
Miranda, who is married to British hunk Orlando Bloom, particularly loves the brand's new "sexy collection" and their multi-way bra: "The new very sexy collection is great for summer. It's so versatile. There's beautiful colors. My favorite piece in the collection is the very sexy multi-way bra. You can wear it cross back, halter back, low-back. It's just a really good bra to have in your wardrobe."
Karl Lagerfeld: Junk Food Makes Japanese Beautiful
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty,
Karl Lagerfeld thinks Japanese people have developed "junk food beauty."
The legendary fashion designer is making his first visit to Japan in eight years and thinks local residents have '"changed for the better," largely thanks to a differing diet which incorporates more fatty foods and calorific treats.
"It's changed a lot but it's changed for the better I think. I noticed that people became bigger than before because now they eat more cake and sweets and things like this that they didn't do in the past. There's a real change in the look of the Japanese people. Normally, before, they were all tiny. It's the kind of beauty you get from junk food."
Karl was speaking at a party for the opening of his photography book and Chanel's Little Black Jacket, where he was joined by Carine Roitfeld, who spoke of her appreciation for the fun of Japanese fashion: "They love fashion in a non-blasé way...they love it but they don't take it too seriously."
Victoria Beckham ‘Screamed’ When Beyoncé Wore Her Dress

Victoria Beckham "screamed" when Beyoncé wore one of her dresses.
The "Single Ladies" hitmaker wore a blue fitted design for an event organized by Michelle Obama earlier this week, and mega-fan Victoria admits she was blown away: "She was one hot mama, for sure. I mean, Beyoncé is absolutely beautiful and has the most phenomenal body, she really does. She looks great, she really does. I was very excited when I saw it online. I screamed! I was like, 'Look, David, look!' I still get so, so excited. She's incredible and also an artist that I have so much respect for. I'm a huge, huge Beyoncé fan. It was big for me."

Erdem Rules Out High Street Collection
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, News, Rumors,
Erdem Moralioglu has ruled out launching a high street collection.
The designer gave a public talk with Colin McDowell at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London last night, as part of the Fashion Fringe Roadshow in which he said he will be working on his collections, rather than pieces for the high street.
"It's never been the right moment. If it works for some people, then that's wonderful - but it depends on where you're at. For me, it's really important to concentrate on your collection and your own work. Once you start looking at versions of your work, it can get a bit dangerous. One can do it really well and in an interesting way though," he said.
Erdem also played down his links to Dior, and was cagey about being touted as a possible successor for disgraced designer John Galliano: "Anything like that is a compliment. But you just have to concentrate on your job and what you're doing."

David Beckham Cringes About Matching Leather Outfits
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers,
David Beckham still cringes about the time he and wife Victoria wore matching leather outfits.
The couple - who have been married 13 years - donned his and hers black Versace biker suits for one of the fashion house's parties in 1999.
Looking back on some of his style choices, David, 36, admits it was a low point: "Me and Victoria wore matching black leather outfits once. They were Versace. But that's one when I look back and am like, 'What were we thinking?' We laugh about that one. I remember that it's really good until you do it as a couple."
The father-of-four has never been shy of making a statement, having even once worn a sarong for a night out. "I look back on some stuff and think I can't believe I actually wore that. I have no regrets, though - I knew at the time it was good."
But he insists his choices have nothing to do with his 37-year-old fashion designer wife. "I was [once] a pageboy and had a choice between wearing some boring old suit or a pair of knickerbockers with ballerina tights and slippers. So I went with the tights. It's not that I always wanted to be different, but I knew what I liked."
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley claims she was "bullied" by modeling agents when she started out.
The Victoria's Secret beauty admitted she was more naïve when she first began working in the fashion industry and found it difficult to stand up for herself when she was feeling under pressure and overworked.
"It was hard. You can get a bit bullied. You're a child surrounded by adults and you don't have a voice. You get pushed around by agents; your needs don't matter. You say that you need a day off, or that you don't feel comfortable doing such-and-such, and people just don't listen," she said.
However, the 24-year-old model-and-actress says the power balance has shifted in her favour in recent years: "The last couple of years, things have been different. I have earned my right to be heard. All I ever wanted to do was to be part of the industry, to collaborate with people and have a voice. I love fashion, I love what I do and I have an opinion ... They treat me like I'm part of the family, not just some clothes hanger."
Nars is to launch a new range of color cosmetics inspired by Andy Warhol.
The limited edition collection, entitled Nars Andy Warhol, will be created by founder Francois Nars under license with The Andy Warhol Foundation, and it is said to evoke the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of the late commercial illustrator.
The project will be launched in the US in October and other parts of the world in November and is thought to be the make-up brand's largest strategic collaboration so far.
The company has previously worked with fashion muse Daphne Guinness on a campaign - which saw her wearing a purple eyeshadow inspired by and named after her - citing her as the brand's ideal ambassador.
"She fits the image of the brand so well. She's very creative and elegant and is a chameleon. And she really loves make-up - the whole process of it. Any makeup artist dreams of having someone like that as a muse," Francois said of her.
