Heidi Klum and Her Bump Dilemma
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, Health & Beauty, Models, News, Women, Dresses,
Heidi Klum struggled to fit her baby bump in a gown for yesterday’s Emmy Awards.
The pregnant supermodel, whose raises three children with husband Seal, and is expecting a daughter in October, decided to wear a clingy black floor-length dress to show off to embrace her expanding figure because her stomach is too big to hide. Even though she had several fittings, the 36-year-old beauty said designer Georgina Chapman struggled to get the bespoke Marchesa gown to fit perfectly because her tummy was constantly growing.
“It wasn’t really hard for me, but it was hard for the woman that designed a dress for me. She started about two or three months ago and that’s kind of difficult… it’s black because I figure, at eight-and-a-half months, black is better! I think it’s elegant and slimming.”
The blonde beauty also revealed she will be in no hurry to lose her post-baby weight to return to lingerie modeling: “I was asked by Victoria’s Secret if it is possible, if I’m going to make it to their show. You never know how you are afterwards, so you kind of have to play it by ear and see what happens. So far—knock on wood—everything was always great. I felt great afterwards and I loved every minute of it, even the sleepless nights of getting up every two hours. But let’s see what happens. You can’t put all that pressure on yourself.”

Emma Watson Designs Line For People Tree
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Men, Women,
Let’s face it, an Emma Watson clothing range was always in the works ever since magazines and Karl Lagerfeld took the fashionista under their wing. It has finally arrived—and it’s an ethical one, too!
The Harry Potter actress has teamed up with People Tree for the new collection, which is aimed at people aged 16 to 24.
“I was excited by the idea of using fashion as a tool to alleviate poverty and knew it was something I could help make a difference with. I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian and environmental issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there.”
Emma, who is the face of Burberry, has taken on the role of creative advisor for the new line (Lindsay Lohan?), which comprises cotton skirts, T-shirts, jersey garments and jewelery.
She tried to inject some of her own personal style into the pieces and used her favorite locations, including South France, London, and music festivals, as inspiration.
There are 26 women’s pieces and 15 men’s looks in the range, which is largely made from organic and fairly traded cotton. The collection is handmade by fair trade groups and helps people make money in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.

Christian Louboutin Gives Mika Michael Jackson Shoes
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celebrities, Fashion Designers, News, Men, Footwear,
Mika has been given Michael Jackson‘s designer shoes.
The King of Pop had hired famed footwear designer Christian Louboutin to create all his shoes for his comeback shows at London’s O2 arena, which were due to begin in July. Following his untimely death, Christian gave all the shoes to close friend Mika to wear at his own concerts.
“Christian Louboutin designed all of Michael Jackson’s shoes that he was supposed to be wearing for the O2 concerts. So when he died, Christian asked if I wanted them for my tour. They are amazing. One is a black soft leather lace-up which goes up to the ankle to support Michael while he was dancing,” Mika said.
However, the “We Are Golden” singer says he won’t wear one particular pair because he wouldn’t feel right: “There is a pair which must have been made for him to moonwalk in. They are gold with a metal toe and the soles are really smooth and slippy to make it easy to moonwalk in. I think they are the only pair I might not wear. It’s a little freaky to think he’d have worn those to do the moonwalk in.”
Stylist Quits Over Curvy Models

The resistance against curvy women in fashion is still formidable. Designer Mark Fast experienced this first-hand, as his stylist quit three days before their London Fashion Week show when the designer revealed that he wanted to use larger models.
Freelancers Daniela Agnelli and Natalie Hubbarb were there, thankfully, to save the day and got everything in place for their Saturday show at the University of Westminster.
While not all of the models that walked his runway were plus-size, he did use three models from the agency 12+ UK—it’s definitely a start.
To think that the size of three models upset someone on his team so much to drive her to quit is beyond me.
Creative director Amanda May was thrilled with the challenge: “The decision to use fuller girls is something we have been talking about. There’s an idea that only thin and slender women are able to wear Mark’s dresses and he wanted to combat that. We wanted women to know they didn’t have to be a size zero to wear a Mark Fast dress—curvier women can look even better in them.”
Hopefully this marks a more lasting effect on the use of models over a size 8.

Fashion Police: Sarah Silverman and Her Red Carpet Blues
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Celebrities, News, Women, Dresses,
While I don’t believe that comedienne Sarah Silverman has Victoria Rowell beat for worst dress at the Emmys, it’s still pretty bad.
I’ll at least give her credit for showing up at the red carpet in proper attire; however, I would think that there’d be something more flattering for her bottom half out there. An updo wouldn’t have hurt, either. Am I wrong, or should the humorous actress give a stylist a chance?

Christian Louboutin Goes Psycho
Posted by Robin Paulson Categories: Fashion Designers, Sales, Women, Footwear,
In honor of his new boutique on Robertson Boulevard, famed shoe designer Christian Louboutin wrote and directed a short film starring Elisa Sednaoui and Miss Robertson.
The film, titled Psycho-Logic, begins very much like a fashionable homage to Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho; however, the latter part of the film brings to life an envisioning of what it would be like to experience in shoe heaven (I want to go!).

Janet Jackson Gets Cozy at Ralph Lauren

Janet Jackson attended the Ralph Lauren fashion show last Friday.
The 43-year-old singer sat in the front row of the New York Fashion Week show alongside the legendary designer’s family. When asked what her favorite look was, Janet replied, “I love them all!”
Ralph’s Spring/Summer ‘10 collection saw models embracing the “resilient spirit” of the nation and its work ethic. Among the looks featured were silver-sequined slashed jeans, work shirts, and metallic blue lame gowns with details of a workman’s coverall.
The designer, who’s known for his classic sportswear brand, said that he wanted his blue-hued collection to reflect the nation’s drive during the recent economic problems: “Hard times seem to sharpen our capacity for idealism and our optimism that tomorrow will be a better day. I am inspired by the character of the worker, the farmer, the cowboy, the pioneer women of the prairies living authentically through challenging times.”
His collection also featured 30s-inspired delicate floral-print dresses and contrasting, tailored denim styles.
Nick Knight Joins Naomi Campbell in Fighting Industry Racism
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Fashion Designers, Models, News, Rumors,
Nick Knight thinks that the fashion industry is racist.
The photographer claims the profession is geared towards white models and is unhappy that some industry professionals are reluctant to work with black models.
“I’ve always I’ve always found the fashion industry to be extremely racist, to the point that I don’t know how they get away with it. When I first started I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, ‘We can’t have a black model—they’re not aspirational.’ You can’t say that!”
Supermodel Naomi Campbell agrees with Nick, previously claiming she wasn’t given as much work as other models because of her skin color.
Speaking about Naomi’s anger, Nick said, “Talk to Naomi and she’s f***ing incandescent with rage that she’s not on the cover of Vogue. She puts it down to racism.”
Naomi, who has been on the cover of British Vogue eight times, has previously spoken about racism in the fashion industry.

Former fashion model Uma Thurman still looks as hot as ever in the latest issue of W, despite nearing her 40th birthday.
The photo shoot has Thurman portraying a fallen, old Hollywood actress. Despite the beautiful heartbreak in the images (which you can find after the jump), Thurman is fabulous in the platinum blonde wig, thigh-high stockings, and classic jewelry.
In the issue, Thurman opens up about how she has been reflecting upon her life:
“I can’t say my 30s were the easiest time. And I had thought my 20s were hard! You know, that’s the worst mistake a woman can make, to think, Oh, I’m 32 and I’ve had two kids and I’ve worked since I was 16 and now it’s going to get easier. Because as soon as you think that, you’re doomed! You’re absolutely doomed! When I was a teenager people often referred to me as jaded or knowing. It’s a classic teen illusion to think you know it all, but I’ve certainly learned I don’t. I’ve certainly learned the hard way.”

In shocking Chanel news, Karl Lagerfeld asked Lily Allen to front his latest collection because she is “young, cool and extremely witty.”
The creative director of Chanel, who will launch their new Coco Cocoon line in two weeks, asked the outspoken British singer to appear in the advertising campaign because of her lifestyle and sense of humor.
“I love Lily Allen. She looks a lot like Gabrielle Chanel, and she is a self-made woman. She is cool, young and extremely witty.”
The pair recently posed in front of the cameras with the brand’s new luxury range of sportswear bags for a promotional drive.
