Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Features, Portable Audio / Video, Product Reviews, Videocasts,
In this Byte we walk you through the many features of SanDisk’s newest flagship MP3 player, the Sansa e260. Looking to capitalize on the whole “iPod doesn’t have all the features that we have” thang, SanDisk has come up with a device that has some features that are worth considering. Check out the video for our full review of this nano killer.

Bleeding Edge Byte 018: The Destruction of a Mac Classic
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Breakin’ Stuff, Short Bytes, Apple, Features, Mods / Hacks, PC / Laptop, Videocasts,
Okay, so, we understand that a nice percentage of our readers are die hard Mac users, enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and the like. Heck, we have a few Macs here at the Gear Live Bleeding Edge headquarters. So what would drive us to want to obliterate a Mac Classic by way of rifle, hand gun, propane, fire, and more? We don’t quite know…but it was certainly fun. Enjoy the 4th!

Bleeding Edge Byte 017: E3 Leftovers: PS3 SingStar: No Way To Look Cool
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Features, Home Entertainment, Music, Video Games, Videocasts,
It takes a unique combination of character traits to get in front of a few people and belt out “It’s Not Unusual” in your best Tom Jones like a moron. It’s even worse when there’s a camera in the room. But hey, why don’t we just publish it on the interwebs and let the whole world see what our shower walls cry about? Singstar, with Jesse Ferguson in black and the wonderfully untalented Chris Cardinal (that is, me) in green, is a fun party game I fear too many people will lack the moxie to throw down with a microphone for. That’s where booze typically comes in, but suffice to say, both Jesse and I were ridiculously sober when we recorded this.
The game monitors your pitch and intonations, and the length of your notes, and did a very good job at filtering out any sort of background noise. More songs will be available for (purchase and) download at a later date, though it will ship with a collection of around 100. It should also be noted that I edged out Jesse, most likely pulling ahead at the end with my creative take on the w-hoo-hoo part of the song.

Bleeding Edge Byte 016: E3 Table Scraps: Smart Brain Games
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Design, Features, Misc. Tech, Peripherals, Video Games, Videocasts,
Deep in the bowels of Kentia Hall, camera jockey Nate True and I found this interesting booth. The Brain Games concept allows you to connect a few diodes to your skull that it uses to monitor your brain’s stress level and affect your controller’s accuracy. Calm down and focus, and your controller works flawlessly. Find yourself distracted, and you’ll notice sluggish, well, distracted control. I know there’s always a lot of “stress” associated with the hustle and bustle of E3 and interviews and such, and it was a bit difficult to control, but I could swear there were times where I was “thinking” as calm as possible, and still noticed a bit of an encumberence on my controller.
Watch me demo the unit! Watch me ask all the tough questions! Watch me butcher the man’s name! Watch how stupid I look in a visor! All this and more. It’s almost worth it.

Bleeding Edge Byte 015: Motorola Q Review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cell Phones, Features, Handhelds, Product Reviews, Videocasts,
So, we know everyone has been all over the Motorola Q - after all, it was hyped as the RAZRberry over a year ago and, more recently, as a Blackberry killer. We got our hands on one, and after using it for a few days, Sparky reports back with his full review in this episode.

Bleeding Edge Byte 014: A Horrific Xbox 360 Purchasing Experience
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Editorial, Features, Video Games, Videocasts,
In this special Sparky’s Story Hour, Sparky details what happened when he attempted to buy an Xbox 360 from Wal-Mart, and whole-heartedly begs you to reconsider if Wal-Mart is the only place that has one in stock near you. From silly down-selling from the retailer, to the associate and their manager not being able to scan a copy of Oblivion, to paying over $1,000 for an Xbox, this is one tale you need to hear.

Bleeding Edge Byte 012: Motorola SLVR and Motorola L6 Review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Cell Phones, Features, Product Reviews, Videocasts,
We recently put the Motorola SLVR and Motorola L6 phones to the test, and are ready to report back with our findings. If you are looking for an iTunes-compatible phone that also looks good (unlike the ROKR,) the SLVR just might be what you need if you are on Cingular’s network. If iTunes isn’t your thing - or if you have an iPod and don’t need a 100 song limit - then the blueish L6 might be more to your liking if ultra-slim phones are your thing. Download the video for our full review.

Bleeding Edge Byte 011: Pacific Designs Rolling Lite Review
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Accessories, PC / Laptop, Product Reviews, Videocasts,
Pacific Designs sent us their Rolling Lite briefcase bag, and we put it through the wringer over the past month. Surprisingly, this thing is solid, providing a seemingly endless number of pockets along with a dedicated space for a 15” or smaller laptop. Check out this episode for our review of the Rolling Lite.
