Bleeding Edge 074: CES 2007 Video: iControl Networks Home Automation
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Cell Phones, CES, CES 2007, Features, Household, Videocasts,
iControl is at CES this year showing off their home security and automation service. iControl’s technology networks various third party home security and automation solutions and provides a hosted gateway to access them over the web or via a cell phone.
The promise of iControl is knowing what’s happening at your house, and being able to control other home automation products. The only downside to this technology is that because its a hosted solution you have to fork over $15 a month for this convenience. It might be worth it depending on your solution, but if you are interested, check out some of the non-hosted solutions offered by Control4 which might be slightly more expensive, but won’t cost you month after month.

Bleeding Edge 072: CES 2007 Video: PowerStick Provides Juice On The Go
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Gizmatic, Short Bytes, Accessories, USB, CES, CES 2007, Features, Portable Audio / Video, Videocasts,
At CES this year we got a chance to meet with Andrew Kular, CEO of Ecosol Technologies. Ecosol has won the CES Innovations award this year for their Powerstick, a portable power solution for gadgets. The Powerstick is a small device that looks like a thick USB memory key, but does something far more valuble to the geek on the go: provide power for empty gadgets quickly and efficiently.
The Powerstick features a standard USB plug on one end, and a custom multi-port on the other. When you plug the Powerstick into a powered USB port it’s internal Lithium-Polymer battery charges up (and it’s LCD fuel gauge fills up) enabling you to plug a gadget into the other end via an adapter to power it up later.
According to Andrew the Powerstick will nearly double the life of most cell phones, iPods, portable media players, and other gadgets. If you have ever run out of power at the worst of times the Powerstick sounds like it’s for you - the convenience of disposable charging solutions, but reusable for 500 charges. Check the video for the full scoop.

Bleeding Edge 071: CES 2007: The Novint Falcon Takes Gaming To The Next Level
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: High Score, Short Bytes, Accessories, CES, CES 2007, Features, PC / Laptop, Video Games, Videocasts,
We spent some time with the folks from Novint to get a look at the Novint Falcon. We walked away quite impressed, as the Falcon definitely lived up to the claim of delivering a more immersive gaming experience. Basically, you use a controller hoked up to three arms, which are connected to an orb of sorts. We know, it sounds confusing, but that is why we have video for you to take a gander at.

Here at The Bleeding Edge, there are some issues that we normally just gloss over for the sake of our reputation. What you don’t know is that Andru Edwards is a very controlling, true gadget freak who can’t move past that issue, Sparky actually knows nothing about technology and is just full of himself, Nate True sucks at fiming our show, and Jesse Ferguson has to fix everything, and is just insanely uptight. Now, it has all been revealed. Check out this episode of The Bleeding Edge, where we go behind the scenes to meet everyone who makes the show happen.

Bleeding Edge 067: Vanishing Point - Loki Sends Us A Vista Media Center PC
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Full Episodes, Gizmatic, Features, Microsoft, PC / Laptop, Software, Videocasts,
So this Vanishing Point thing that Microsoft has going on is in full swing. Some think it’s silly, others are intrigued. Us? We think it’s an extremely ingenious way for them to get the buzz out there about Windows Vista, and we think that whoever wins is going to get a nice, big prize. We mean, like, really big. Nonetheless, Microsoft sent us a Windows Media Center PC loaded with Windows Vista Ultimate and Office 2007. This thing is the real deal with an AMD Athlon FX 5000+ dual core processor, 2 GB DDR-800 RAM, two 400 GB hard drives in a RAID 1 configuration, and a bunch of other extras. It seems most everyone else we know got a Ferrari laptop.
For all the info on what we know so far, check out this episode of the show. So see everything laid out, you can check the post we made specifically regarding the Vanishing Point clues.

Bleeding Edge 066: Chris Pirillo and Ponzi Get Married
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Full Episodes, Head To Head, Features, Misc. Tech, PC / Laptop, Videocasts,
It was the biggest wedding in the history of the blogosphere, as Chris Pirillo and Ponzi tied the knot just a few weeks ago. Of course, we wouldn’t be The Bleeding Edge if we didn’t have our camera crew in tow to capture some of the many highlights of the evening, which included wedding vows that were read off of UMPC devices - and one of them went into sleep mode during the exchange. In any case, we wish the couple the best of happiness in their years to come.
