On Gear Live: Samsung S95C: The OLED TV You Can’t Afford (to Ignore!)

We bring you an in-depth look at the Nikon 1 J1 in this episode. We chat with Nikon's Steve Heiner about the compact point-and-shoot, which features a new mirrorless, small sensor system that packs in a flash module. The camera can grab 10 megapixel stills, records in full 1080p, and is the fastest autofocusing camera in Nikon's entire line. The Nikon 1 J1 even lets you capture images and 1080p video at the same time. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

We give you a look at the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga, an ultrabook that can morph into multiple form factors with ease. Lenovo is calling this an industry first, and we can't find reason to argue with them. The Yoga combines a portable 13.3-inch multitouch display alongside powerful innards. The dual-hinge design lets you turn this thing from notebook form factor into something that resembles a large tablet. You can also turn it inside out so that it becomes its own stand for watching content. The IdeaPad Yoga packs an Intel Core Ivy Bridge processor, has 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a battery that lasts up to 8 hours. Expect this one to hit stores in the second half of the year (probably around the same time as the launch of Windows 8,) for $1,199. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

While LG and Samsung showed off their OLED prototypes, Sony was showing off its new 55-inch Crystal LED prototype at CES 2012. Its display sports what it calls "ultrafine" LEDs mounted to each RGB color, equal to the number of pixels, which is all attached directly to the front of the display. Sony says this results in 3.5 times contrast, 1.4 times the color gamut and 10 times faster response time than LCDs.

The "Crystal LED Display" is a self-emitting display that uses Sony's unique methods to mount ultrafine LEDs in each of the RGB colors, equivalent to the number of pixels. The RGB LED light source is mounted directly on the front of the display, dramatically improving the light use efficiency. This results in images with strikingly higher contrast (in both light and dark environments), wider color gamut, superb video image response time, and wider viewing angles when compared to existing LCD and plasma displays, with low power consumption.

In this episode we give you a look at the Cadillac User Experience, also known as Cadillac CUE. This is the new infotainment system that you can expect to find in the upcoming Cadillac XTS and Cadillac SRX as a standard feature, as well as an optional feature on the upcoming Cadillac ATS as well. Cadillac CUE offers a bunch of cool, new features that make driving more fun:

Connectivity: CUE seamlessly connects you to a world of content. Its available 3D GPS navigation system has map-integrated Doppler weather reports. It accesses every contact and song on your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. It reads text messages aloud and streams Pandora Radio. With downloadable custom apps, its content possibilities are endless. With CUE, you are always connected.

Convenience: CUE starts with a clean, uncluttered design. From there, intuition takes over. Spread your fingers to zoom in closer on a map. Swipe to breeze through your music. Program the homepage to keep your favorites front and center. With fewer buttons and more intelligent controls, CUE also offers natural voice recognition, allowing you to effortlessly place phone calls and play music.

Control: Proximity-sensing technology detects your hand as it approaches the 8-inch LCD touch screen. When an icon is pressed, the screen pulses to acknowledge the command, keeping your eyes safely on the road. Even the gauge cluster is reconfigurable (select models), offering four display layouts that mix vehicle data, such as a speedometer and fuel gauge, with navigation, entertainment and 3-D vehicle image.

We compare the new Vonage Mobile free calling and free texting app against the Skype app for iOS and Android in this episode. Both Vonage and Skype offer apps for smartphones that enable you to communicate with others using voice or text for free, yet the apps also have some key differences. For example, Vonage Mobile uses your existing contacts and address book, rather than requiring you to set up a new username, get a new phone number, and set up a whole new buddy list like Skype requires you to do. Also, Vonage Mobile doesn't require you to set up an account with them to pay for any off-network minutes like Skype, instead you just add your minutes right from the App Store or Android Market! Another big difference is that Skype offers video chat, while Vonage Mobile is strictly for free phone calls and free texts in its current form. Check out the video for the full comparison and rundown!

We give you a look at Vonage Mobile and explain how you can win one of twenty $25 iTunes gift cards in this episode! Vonage Mobile allows you to make free phone calls to other users of the app (which is currently available for iOS and Android.) In addition, you can also send free text messages as well to other users of the app, cross platform. Even better, you can call any phone number, the rate is much lower than what your mobile carrier would charge, and is even 30% less than what Skype would charge you as well.

So, how do you enter to win one of the $25 iTunes credits? We've got a few different ways for you to enter. You only need to enter once, but for each method of entry, you gain an additional entry in the contest. Here's how you enter:

That's it! Again, there is no requirement for you to perform all three methods of entry, but you do get a point for each entry that you do. At the end of the week, we'll choose twenty winners at random who followed the rules!
