Design nerds unite - the Dell Crystal monitor, which is available now, could change the way people think of monitors altogether. Combining great design and great functionality, the Crystal is a 22” solid tempered glass monitor with built in speakers with a maximum resolution of 1680x1050 (um, what?!) and a 2 millisecond response time.
The Crystal features five capacitive touch controls, four speakers, a 2 megapixel webcam and a microphone integrated so well that they’re virtually unnoticeable at first glance. It’s mounted on a metal tripod and features a single cable with the connections for power, USB, subwoofer out, and the DVI/HDMI with HDCP.
The CES Engineering & Design Award winning Dell Crystal is available now for $1199.

That is one way cool monitor! I wouldn't mind having it sitting on my desk right now, surfing this site, playing the bleeding edge videos. I wouldn't mind having it for playing my RPG games either, not to mention watching TV and DVDs.

It's a very nice design. There is one point that I don't realy get. There is only a 1680x1050 resolution. I mean some 17" notebooks have a 1920x1200 resolution. Anyway the design is awesome, the glass border, 4 speakers, etc.

Never nice design for the screen, bad for the screen like mentioned is the resolution size but for gaming and watching videos and surfing this site and others would be nice on that size screen with clarity.

The only thing I wonder about is the speakers. Are they made to handle a lot of soundwaves? I mean, they looked like a pair of speakers I have that have no clarity, and no volume.

You don't like the design? I wonder if the speakers are good. They probably can't be so good as a simple 2.1 system...

That is a cool big monitor I could really see things on the screen with one of those. I wonder how loud the speakers go and if they go to loud will they break the glass?

It's too bad there wasn't a better demo - or was there and it just wasn't recorded??? I still like the monitor, even with the fact that if you have kids, or a very dusty house, it will attract the dust like a magnet, as well as fingerprints. (better keep a cleaning cloth handy!)
