Video Transcript:
A lot of people think that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones are waterproof, although Samsung itself has never made that claim. What they do claim is that the S7 line is water resistant in up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes - but even then, there have been plenty of examples of the S7 failing in under 5 minutes in a meter of water.
So, is there a way to actually make the Galaxy S7 waterproof? The answer is yes, with the Ghostek Atomic 2.0 case.
The Ghostek case is waterproof in up to 1 meter of water for 10 minutes. So, you’re not going to be scuba diving with your S7 in this thing, but you can rest assured that if you drop it in water and can’t get to it right away, it’ll be okay within those parameters - and even then, if water does start to get in, then the Galaxy S7’s water resistance is still a factor.
Now, I generally don’t like cases and don’t use them. They’re bulk and heavy, and in the past 10 years I have only dropped and damaged a phone once. However, the Atomic 2.0 actually addresses the things that I don’t like about cases. First, it’s got a metal frame that’s made of aluminum, making it nice and light. Second, and to me, more importantly, it’s super thin. It’s 11.2mm thin, making it one of the thinnest waterproof cases out there.
As you can see, I can put the Galaxy S7 into a sink full of water with confidence. After 10 minutes, I removed it and dried off the outside so we could check and see if it got wet at all on the inside - as you can see, it’s totally fine.
Aside from the waterproof factor, this case is also shock, dust, and snow proof as well. you should also know that the screen protector on the front of the display obviously allows you to still control the touch display, but it also works with the fingerprint scanner as well. You can also fully use the front and rear cameras, as well as access every port of the device as well.
The Ghostek Atomic 2.0 case is available now for $54.95 on Amazon, and it comes in black, gold, red, pink, and silver color options.
Now I wanna hear what you think. Would you add a layer of extra protection to your Galaxy S7, or do you prefer to keep it naked? Sound off in the comments!
