Unboxing Live 196: Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

If you’ve been wanting to pick up the Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, but were worried about carrying around a phone that’s covered on the front and back by glass and how easy it might be to shatter, then you’re gonna wanna pay attention to this episode, as I’ll be giving you a look at the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active - a no-compromises version of the Galaxy S7 that you’ll have a hell of hard time trying to destroy.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 line is the latest flagship series from Samsung. In my opinion, they’re the best-looking phones that Samsung has ever made…but they’re also the most fragile and slippery due to being encased in curved glass. Each year though, Samsung and AT&T collaborate on a much more rugged version of the Galaxy S smartphone - the Active line. This is the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

You can get the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active now.

Stay tuned.

Now I’m gonna open it up right now so you can see everything that it comes with, but right off the bat, I wanna let you know that this year, there are no compromises in the Active line. What I mean by that is that in previous years, you’d never get the exact same hardware that was found in the regular Galaxy S. You might get a worse screen, or a worse camera, not as much RAM, etc. This year with the Galaxy S7 Active, you get everything from the regular S7, and in some areas, a lot more. More on that in a minute.

Inside the box, right up front you’ve got the Galaxy S7 Active itself. This particular model is the Sandy Gold color, but it’s also available in Titanium Gray, and Green Camo. Big thank you to Samsung by the way for eliminating the camo on the other colors, because in previous years, no matter what color you picked, it had the camo design.

You also get a quick start guide if you need help getting set up, SIM tray removal tool, which you can also use to eject the microSD card tray, a USB charging cable and a USB connector that you can use for transferring data from one phone to another, and a Quick Charge AC adapter.

Now let’s talk specs. I mentioned that what you are getting here is the same as the Galaxy S7 or better, and that’s true. You get the same 5.1-inch, 2560x1440 AMOLED display. You get the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage with microSD card slot for expandability up to 256GB. The front and rear cameras also match up as well. What’s better? Well, obviously this phone is more rugged. The outside is heavily protected, giving the phone an IP68 rating. Also, the display is shatter resistant, and the phone is water, shock, and dust resistant as well. The biggest benefit over the Galaxy S7 though is the battery life. The Galaxy S7 Active has a 4,000mAh battery. Yes. 4000mAh. That’s good for two days of battery life, and is a 33% improvement over the Samsung Galaxy S7.

One other nice touch that you wont find on the standard Galaxy S7 is the Active Key, which you can use to launch three of your favorite apps instantly by way of single press, double press, and long press.

I’ll be going into everything more in-depth in my Samsung Galaxy S7 Active review and I’ll also be giving away a Galaxy S7 Active soon as well, but for now, that was my unboxing and overview of the device. Please do hit the like button if you enjoyed this one, and if you aren’t subscribed yet, hit the subscribe button to stay up on all of our new video releases, including the upcoming giveaway of this device - and, help me hit that 50,000 subscriber goal - we’re just several hundred away. If you’re looking to pick up the Samsung Galaxy S7, you should know that it’s an AT&T exclusive, so you won’t find any unlocked, nor will you find it in any other region. I know people hate carrier exclusives, but AT&T worked with Samsung on creating this one, so you aren’t gonna find it anywhere else. Thanks for watching guys, this is Andru Edwards - I appreciate your support, and I’ll catch you in the next video.
