Last night, we saw a good match between NBC and CBS.  Although the Peacock network was a winner with the viewers, the Eye network snagged the title for the demos.

Thursday Ratings: New Amsterdam Already Takes a Fall

In only its second outing, New Amsterdam saw a 20% decline.  Despite the great lead-in, the FOX series couldn’t compete against Lost.

  • (12.6 million, 4.0/10) was on track with last Thursday.
  • * (5.5 million, 1.9/5) saw a 300,000 bump.

  • * (2.3 million, 0.9/2) had some decent growth.

CW Hands Out the Renewal Notices

Thursday Ratings: Lost Continues to Slide

Maybe last night’s episode was a bit too confusing?  Whatever the reason, Lost is returning to old ways and starting to see declining numbers.  (Not that it would have been able to stop FOX anyway.)

  • The same audience saw the same person exiled on (12.5 million, 4.2/11).

  • * made a showing with 1.8 million (0.7/2).

The Season Four premiere of received a very warm welcome.  As a result, the debut of also got off to a fine start.

  • About 13.1 million got caught up with the recaps (4.9/13 in 18-49).
  • ? (10.6 million, 3.1/8) did about the same as last week.
  • * (8.8 million, 1.9/5) was up just a bit.
  • * (5.3 million, 2.2/6) started ‘s night off on a slow note; * (4.5 million, 1.9/5) went downhill from there.
  • (3.8 million, 1.6/4) looked a lot bigger this week.

MONDAY (1/28)

**Live coverage of the State of the Union Address (9 PM Eastern) will alter many schedules.  Double-check your local listings for times.**

  • Dance War (ABC, 8pm):  “One contestant from the losing team is ousted after the first round of competition.”  Those remaining will learn ‘I’m Still Standing’ routine.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  Pilot repeat.  Late-comers can finally learn why is this season’s guiltiest pleasure.  (And when I say ‘gossip’, I mean the show, of course.)
  • In Treatment (HBO, 9:30:  Series premiere.  New therapy drama airs 5x a week with a different patient every night.  Apparently can’t handle them all at once like the masterful Dr. Drew.
  • Making the Band 4 (MTV, 10pm):  brings back all the winners and throws them together in one house.  If they end up killing each other, he can finally start anew.

Thursday Ratings: ‘Chuck’ Outsmarted By ‘5th Grader’

Two new episodes of Chuck couldn’t help in the ratings race.  When the smoke cleared, was left standing with the viewers while was holding tight to the demos.

  • (3.2/9 in 18-49) averaged 10.3 million over its two hours.
  • The last new episode of (2.9/8) closed up shop with 8.9 million viewers.
  • * (8.6 million, 1.8/5) was down 500,000 from last week’s Trace.
  • The first hour of (2.7/7) debuted with 6.9 million.
  • * (2.1 million, 0.8/2) lost 600,000 from one week ago.
