Mariah Carey to Become US X Factor Judge?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, Gossip, Video,
“Mariah Carey would be an amazing addition to the US show,” Simon Cowell told reporters recently when discussing his tateside version of The X Factor. “And she’s exactly the right caliber of star that we want for the show.”
Which means, American audiences know who she is. Cowell has been hoping to bring Cheryl Cole, a judge on the British version of the show, to his new X Factor … but US viewers probably won’t recognize her. “I’ve said I’d love Cheryl [Cole] out there, but whether it will happen, who knows?” Cowell told reporters.
If Carey were to join the show, she would be judging alongside Simon Cowell and Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger.

American Idol Snubs MySpace Contestants
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Video,
American Idol has opened up the Internet as a viable auditioning option for the first time ever in Season 10 - giving singers who haven’t the means, time or money to travel to one of the audition cities the chance to compete.
Here’s the rub: if they do get accepted for a callback, the MySpace singers have to fly to LA on their own dime. The show that makes millions of dollars just for using the Coca-Cola symbol every chance they get won’t even foot the bill for their own contestants.

American Idol Announces 10th Season Judges
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip,
As suspected, American Idol announced on Wednesday that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are definitely on board as judges in the upcoming 10th season. Alum Randy Jackson, who has weathered every judging change without batting an eye, will be returning to the series to join them. The only surprise to the panel comes in the form of Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Record.
From their comments, one may infer that J-Lo plans to be the new “nice judge” in the same vein as Paula Abdul. “For nine years I’ve enjoyed watching artists compete to get a meaningful chance to achieve their dreams,” she said. “I know from my own experience how hard it is to succeed, and I’m looking forward to discovering and nurturing that spirit in the many American Idol contestants I look forward to meeting this year.”
Steven Tyler, on the other hand, seems poised to become the new Simon Cowell of the panel. “If you don’t like what I say don’t get mad, get better.”

The online auditions, an Idol first which was just implemented this year, are available for public viewing. Why wait to hear all the terrible singing…and, if you’re lucky, that rare moment of brilliance?
Of course, you won’t be hearing any soul-crushing feedback from Simon Cowell…but neither will any other Idol fans. View the video above to get just a small taste of what you’ll be hearing when you watch the online auditions.
Parents who absolutely don’t want their kids to
expose themselves may take advantage of the “Parent Takedown” link, which provides a short, pop-up form requesting video removal.

FOX Announces Upcoming American Idol Announcement
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
In a move ripped right from the pages of Comedy Central’s production notes, FOX has broken the long silence regarding the upcoming American Idol 10 judging panel…but the network doesn’t have a lot to say.
FOX announced on Thursday that the panel is, indeed, a done deal…but they’re not going to announce the panelists until next week.
Of course, the new Idol panel has been the worst-kept secret in reality TV. For months, it’s been well-known that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are replacing Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell on the reality series. Tyler reportedly inked his deal last month. J-Lo is rumored to have at last signed her own contract (for a cool $12 million) just this week.
