This Week on TV (4/13-4/19)

Prison Break

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 4/13)
  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “When Chuck’s father is abducted by Fulcrum forces, Chuck attempts to rescue him by putting his faith in a most unlikely person—his double-crossing ex-girlfriend, Jill ().” Well, she is fast and furious.
  • Dhani Tackles the Globe (Travel, 9pm):  “Dhani visits Spain’s Basque region to learn about jai alai, a fast-paced ball game that’s been called “ballet with bullets.” That’s one performance of The Nutcracker I would probably sit out.
  • Roommates (ABC Family, 9pm):  “Hope’s father makes a surprise visit and tells her to come home because he’s unhappy with her job situation.” Doesn’t he, like, understand how hard it is out there? He’s so lame.
  • 24 (FOX, 9pm):  “Jack’s daughter returns.” Because the worst day in Daddy’s life just wouldn’t be the same without her.

Tuesday Ratings: Solid Return for Fringe

Okay - so Fringe might have had a little help from Adam Lambert. But FOX would have won anyway right? Despite its long absence, the freshman series returned last night to stronger numbers than when it left.

Celebrity Double-Take: Bret Harrison vs. Dustin Milligan

Reaper's Bret Harrison90210's Dustin Milligan

In today’s installment, we have ‘s Bret Harrison on the left and 90210‘s Dustin Milligan on the right.

One is the (supposed) son of the Devil and the other has just been demoted on his show.

Sucks to be either one of them.

(Make sure to check out more of our Celebrity Double-Takes here, here and here.)

Tuesday Ratings: Osbournes Enjoy Post-Idol High

Dropped by 16 affiliates? Who cares! When you’re given a post-American Idol time slot, you’ll always do well. Despite being blocked in parts of the country, Osbournes: Reloaded still enjoyed a nice turnout last night. The variety show - combined with the reality version - helped give FOX a double win last night.

Tuesday Ratings: Reaper Reaps the Benefits

Yesterday’s Obama presser may have been a nuisance for some networks, but it worked out well for one. Those not interested in another news conference brought Reaper to season-high numbers. Meanwhile, the back half of the evening was owned by CBS.

Reaper's Tyler Labine8pm

  • Approximately 9.9 million (2.0/6) in 18-49) watched President Barack Obama on CBS.
  • ABC saw 8.7 million (2.0/6) tune in for their coverage.
  • NBC (2.2/6) chalked up 8.3 million for their broadcast.
  • FOX (1.6/5) pulled in 4.3 million for its newser.
  • (2.7 million, 1.1/3) rose by 800,000.

This Week on TV (3/23-3/29)

In the Motherhood

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY (3/23)
  • The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm):  “Amy gives birth to her son and has a difficult time adjusting to life as a mom.” Unfortunately for her, society is no longer interested in single mothers of one child.
  • Gossip Girl (CW, 8pm):  “Lily and Rufus make lists of their past lovers.” I think even Gossip Girl would qualify that as TMI.
  • Animal Cops: Phoenix (Animal, 10pm):  “A skunk gets trapped in an elevator shaft.” Well that stinks.
  • Table for 12 (TLC, 10pm):  Series premiere. “Betty Hayes, mother of three sets of multiples (twins, twins, sextuplets), is sent to the spa on her birthday, while the rest of the family plans a special celebration at home.” Great. More stuff for her to clean up later.

Tuesday Ratings: Idol Has the Luck of the Irish

Despite a 15% drop in viewers from last week (was the holiday and/or country music to blame?), American Idol remained the most-watched show on Tuesday night.

This Week on TV (3/16-3/22)

Battlestar Galactica

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 3/16)
  • House (FOX, 8pm):  “A nursing home worker is alarmed when the home’s cat curls up next to her. It seems the cat only cuddles up to people who are going to die soon.” That’s what felines call “grooming their victims.”
  • Castle (ABC, 10pm):  “Castle and Beckett discover a young nanny dead inside a laundry room dryer, and their investigation leads to a dangerous world of play dates.” The pursuit for the perfect Hide-and-Seek spot can get quite nasty.
  • For the Love of Ray J (VH1, 10pm):  “A pool date with two contesants turns steamy.” Thanks to , I already know how this episode will end.
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A flight attendant’s murder reveals dirty secrets of airline travel.” Note to self: Pack own pillow and blanket for next flight.

Tuesday Ratings: Season High for SVU

Finally a bit of good news for NBC. Even though the network faced another evening against American Idol, it did manage a second-place finish in the demos. Why? Nice returns for both The Biggest Loser and SVU. (The repeats on CBS also helped.)
