Jay Leno: “I Got Screwed”
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, Video,
Although Joy Behar was the guest on yesterday’s Tonight Show, it was Jay Leno who opened up for the cameras backstage. In a chat for Behar’s HLN show, the late-night host claimed Conan O’Brien wasn’t the only one who was treated badly by NBC.
“Conan got screwed. I got screwed,” Leno said about the network’s programming decision. “I mean, this is TV. The reason show business pays a lot of money is so when you get screwed you’ve got something left over.”

Will 24 Move to NBC?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Drama, Prime Time, FOX, 24, Cancellations, Renewals, Rumors,
Season 9 of 24 could see Jack Bauer’s biggest challenge to date. If the program is canceled as rumored by FOX, Kiefer Sutherland be paired with a new team member—a peacock.
According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC is entertaining the possibility of airing the series should their rivals give up on it. Although 24 has lost ground in the ratings, it still outperforms many of the shows on the fourth place network. Unfortunately, the drama also comes with a pricey budget.
Even if 24 is not picked up - by anyone - next season, Bauer may still see some action. A big screen version of the program has already been in the works.

NBC Claims Sarah Palin Needed No Laugh Track
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, Gossip, Video,
Depending on which camp you’re in, you either found Sarah Palin‘s monologue during Tuesday’s Tonight Show to be funny—or reports of NBC using a laugh track to be even funnier.
Although an “audience member” from that taping - who supposedly has experience as sound engineer - insists the broadcast’s volume was pumped up, the network’s execs deny the claim.
“Neither the audio nor the laughs were enhanced for Sarah Palin’s segments on The Tonight Show,” NBC said in a statement.
After watching this clip from Palin’s open, let us know what you think. Did her jokes deserve that much laughter?

Preview Kathy Griffin’s Appearance on SVU
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, NBC, Gossip, Spoilers, Video,
Kathy Griffin has always been vocal about loving her “gays,” so it’s only appropriate that she defend them in primetime.
On next Wednesday’s episode of Law & Order: SVU, the comedienne will guest as Babs Duffy - the president, founder, spokeswoman of a lesbian-rights organization. Despite the serious tone of the drama, Griffin still manages to infuse a bit of her famous humor and salty language in the scenes included here. (She also gets a chance to check out A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot.)
For the full episode, make sure your DVRs are set to 10:00 on March 3—SVU‘s new hour. (Thanks, Jay!)

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Rumors,
NBC may have chosen Jay Leno over Conan O’Brien, but the Peacock can still recognize good comedy.
An internet campaign urging the network to get Betty White on Saturday Night Live appears to have finally worked. Execs are reportedly sealing a deal that would bring the comedienne - and several other funny ladies - to the stage.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 88-year-old’s appearance may become part of a proposed “Women of Comedy” event. Others rumored for that possible show include Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—all SNL alums.
As of today, nearly 430,000 people have already joined the “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)!” page on Facebook.
No projected air date for White’s broadcast has yet been announced.

Kevin Eubanks Leaving The Tonight Show
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Late Night, Talk Shows, NBC, News,
UPDATE: Eubanks says he won’t be leaving the show altogether, but admits he’ll be on the program “less.”
Will Jay Leno‘s old audience return to the revamped Tonight Show? That remains to be seen. But there will be at least one person who won’t be hanging around for the next go-around.
After 18 years working with Leno, bandleader Kevin Eubanks has decided to break away from NBC. Although his exact departure date is unknown, Kevin will eventually leave to pursue other projects. An insider claims the jazz guitarist made the decision because he simply “wanted a change.”
No announcement has yet been made about Eubank’s possible replacement.
Meanwhile, John Melendez will also be ending his announcer duties on the program. Melendez, though, is expected to stay on with The Tonight Show as a writer.

Later this week, the old/new Tonight Show host will do his first one-on-one interview since Conan’s finale last Friday. Oprah Winfrey, who is a close friend with Jay, flew to Los Angeles to pre-tape the chat.
Although Winfrey’s people have also extended an invitation to O’Brien, it’s not known whether he’ll eventually do his own daytime sit-down.
Leno’s interview is scheduled to air on Thursday.
