Although fared well enough to rank third last night, the network’s programs showed major declines in just their second week.

Carpoolers

  • About 28.8 million (11.2/27 in 18-49) saw the Top 12 Men on .
  • * (10.8 million, 2.1/5) did about one-third as well as the monster hit.
  • (3.3/8) weighed in at 8.2 million.
  • (1.2/3) had an amusing 4.6 million viewers.
  • * (0.8/2) trailed far behind the pack with 1.8 million.

Post-Strike Television Schedule

Now that we have come to the end of the , it’s time to once again update our television programming schedules.

Mid-season replacements have had seen their debuts shuffled (e.g. New Amsterdam), some programs are coming back with new episodes (e.g. Scrubs, 30 Rock) while other shows aren’t slated to return until next year (Pushing Daisies).

Here you can find a

compilation of the 2008 post-strike schedules

for the five major networks.  I would highly recommend printing this out since there are major changes across the board.

Two notes:

  1. This is the updated schedule as of May 6.  Be prepared to see more changes and settling in the weeks to come.
  2. The list consists of premieres and dates for new episodes.
  3. If a particular time slot/network is not mentioned, either nothing has changed or no specific announcement has been made yet.

The return of American Idol‘s Hollywood Week meant the return of boffo ratings for FOX.

  • About 29.9 million saw instruments introduced on (12.3/29 in 18-49).
  • * (11.7 million, 2.3/6) grew by almost 3 million from last week.
  • (7.5 million, 3.0/7) lost 500,000 on the viewer scale.
  • (1.4/3) entertained just 4.9 million.
  • * (2 million, 0.8/2) maintained last Tuesday’s numbers.

  • Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 8pm):  “Sarah meets a stranger () who shares a similar past.”  They were once both white rappers?
  • Dance War (ABC, 8pm):  “The touring company of ‘High School Musical’ performs.”  The contestants, now left with inferiority complexes, are unable to go on.
  • Flavor of Love (VH1, 9pm):  Third season premiere.  Is it a coincidence that a Flav-ex has since show up on ?
  • Prison Break (FOX, 8pm):  “The escape attempt is successful for some, if not all, of the escapees.”  Apparently you can miss weeks of this show and not miss a thing.

Jericho and Orton face offWWE Monday Night RAW opens with “Y2J” Chris Jericho in the ring doing his whole “me want title shot” schtick. Jericho replays the video of WWE Champion Randy Orton accepting Jericho’s challenge for Armageddon. Orton comes out and it’s pretty much more of the same. The two get in each others faces - threat, threat, threat - and it almost comes to blows. Of course, Regal comes out and stops them. Orton and Jericho will pick each other’s opponents for the night. It would make sense for them to make Jericho face Flair. Now, that would be a good match. Instead, Jericho will face Umaga. Orton will face off against Shawn Michaels. Not bad main events!

WWE RAW Reflections (11/5)

DX gets a leg up on Randy OrtonThis weeks edition of WWE Monday Night RAW featured the much-hyped “one night only” (yeah, right) return of DX, as well as an appearance by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The WWE has kind of kicked the RAW storylines that have been running since Cyber Sunday to the curb in favor of this “novelty” episode. Never the less, I suppose it has been one of the more anticipated shows in recent memory. The most disappointing thing to me? It is pretty obvious that Chris Jericho will not be making his return for another couple weeks - it would make no sense to have him debut before Survivor Series.

Clay Aiken Fans Saved Jericho?

Clay AikenCan you believe that Clay Aiken is trying to take credit for the revival of the canceled series Jericho? Apparently, Aiken was a big fan of the show and rallied on his blog for his faithful fans (known as Claymates) to take action. He told The Houston Chronicle, “The show Jericho... I loved it. I started blogging about it on my fan site. It got canceled, and I blogged about how upset I was. I said, ‘The Claymates can do anything. How do we get this show back on the air?’” Was Aiken’s message to his fans the impetus that got the whole peanut craze started? If you recall, once the show was canceled, lots o’ peanuts made their way to the CBS offices in reference to a line from the show. Lo and behold, the net announced that Jericho would be coming back to the air waves. The power of nuts. And Claymates, it seems. Aiken said, “Honestly, within a week [the Claymates] had organized a campaign amongst Jericho fans to send nuts to CBS. It kind of started in that place. And it’s back on the air! It just blows my mind.” Hmmm. Is Clay Aiken taking too much credit for the show’s return? Does he have that crazy a fanbase that they will just do whatever he commands? I’m not so sure I’m a believer.

Fans Save Jericho From Cancellation

Skeet Ulrich Fans of Jericho were not happy when it was announced that the show would not be renewed for the fall. In addition to the usual email and letter writing campaigns to save the show, faithful fans donated money to a fund that delivered peanuts to the network. Peanuts? Huh? I didn’t get it either, but apparently it’s a shout out to a line that star Skeet Ulrich said during the show’s season finale. And the nuts did the trick, because the executives have since reversed their decision and are in talks to get the stars and writers back on board for another season. “You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard,” CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler wrote in a letter to the fans. “In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more Jericho, we will need more viewers.” To gain some momentum heading into the fall season, the network will re-air the first season over the summer, show episodes online, and release a season one DVD. And what about those peanuts? By all accounts, approximately 50,000 pounds of peanuts were delivered to CBS—they plan to donate them to charity.
