Lauren Conrad saw her early reality television career as a "business opportunity."
The 26-year-old beauty rose to fame on Laguna Beach before going on to be a fashion designer, and she does not regret living her life in front of the cameras because it allowed her to have a "voice."
"There were definitely great perks. I got to travel a lot and I got to meet great people as well. But for me, the reality TV platform was always a business opportunity. Also, it gave me a voice, and I think it's really nice if you can turn that into something more."
Lauren admits the best thing about her career now is that she can do things she really enjoys, like writing her new book The Fame Game: "I'm really happy. It worked out well for me, because I am able to do the clothing line and write these books, things that I love, without the cameras around."

Italian Jersey Shore Facing Strict Rules From Florence Mayor
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, Gossip,
The new season of the Jersey Shore, set in Italy instead of Jersey, won’t be anything like the reality show fans have come to know and love. The mayor of Florence, where the show is scheduled to be filmed, has set forth several rules that could completely change everything.
Mayor Matteo Renzi says that cast will not be allowed to be filmed in bars and clubs in which alcohol is served, and cannot be filmed drinking in public. Jersey Shore will not be filmed in a way that promotes Florence, Italy as a “drinking town,” and should be filmed in a way to promote Italy -- featuring culture and food.
Which means we might have to watch scenes of Snooki eating. With luck, MTV will just go ahead and pull the plug on the show right now.

MTV Approves Two Jersey Shore Spin Offs
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Cable, MTV, Gossip,
Looks like that 15 minutes is going to stretch to 30 after all. MTV is moving forward with two new spin-offs from their popular reality series Jersey Shore, and that means Snooki is going to be on TV for awhile longer.
Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) and Jenni Farley (JWoww) will co-star in their own series, while Paul Delvecchio (Pauly D) will headline a series of his own. Both new shows will debut in 2012... ironically, the same year the Mayans predicted the world would end.
Both projects have been ordered to produce 12 episodes and neither is set in the Jersey Shore. Pauly D will take his act on the road “as one of the country’s most in-demand DJs,” according to a press release from MTV. He will “chase his dream with the help of the best friends he grew up with in Rhode Island by his side.” Snooki and JWoww will “deal with life and love when the vacation is over.”

MTV Moves Jersey Shore to Italy
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Prime Time, Reality, Cable, MTV, Renewals,
The cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore is about to become representative of Italian Americans to actual Italians. For Season 4, the cable channel is sending its reality stars to the Old World.
Why the switch? “Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us,” said MTV programming vice president Chris Linn.

- Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo, 8 P.M.): "James Lipton conducts an interview with actor and funnyman Jim Carrey, star of The Truman Show (1998), Man on the Moon (1999) and the Ace Ventura films." This would be an example of a "yes man" interviewing the Yes Man.
- Lie to Me (FOX, 8 P.M.): "When Cal (Tim Roth) is asked to determine if a mental hospital patient is being held against his will he begins to question his own sanity." When you go from Reservoir Dogs to a television series, it's natural to question yourself occasionally.

VIDEO: Snooki’s Ball Dropped Anyway
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Late Night, Reality, Specials, Cable, MTV, Video,
Viewers might have been confused on New Year’s Eve, watching the festivities as recorded by MTV.
Snooki was present in Time Square, along with her fellow Jersey Shore cast members … but wasn’t she supposed to be in New Jersey? The reality star’s ball drop did go on the air as planned -- because it was recorded the night before.
Snooki’s ball was removed from Time Square after officials decided that only one ball would be dropping in New York’s famous block. Instead, the Snooks was dropped in her own hometown of Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
You can watch the entire video above.

Snooki’s Ball Moved to Jersey for Ball Drop
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Late Night, Reality, Specials, Cable, MTV, News,
There is only one New Year’s Eve ball that falls in Times Square -- and the city of New York is going to keep it that way.
The official ball drop will be officiated by Mayor Bloomberg and Dick Clark, a staple of the annual event.
MTV announced recently that Snooki, of Jersey Shore fame, would be dropping from a ball during their separate celebration, but the city wouldn’t have it.
Instead, Snooki has been moved, appropriately, to New Jersey. The ball arrived on scene early on Wednesday, with a large “Snooki” spelled out in lights affixed to it.
Who knows? Maybe New Jersey just started their own New Year’s Eve tradition.

MTV Documentary to Address Abortion
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Reality, Specials, Cable, MTV,
MTV’s transition from music to maternity television is almost complete.
The cable channel, already known for programs like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, is about to explore another chapter of pregnancy: abortion.
Later this month, MTV will air No Easy Decision, a special focusing on one young woman (Markai) who finds herself pregnant for the second time. (Some may remember Markai, pictured above, as a former face on 16 and Pregnant.)
That documentary will include a discussion between Dr. Drew Pinsky and other ladies who have opted to have an abortion. The program will also address contraception and the "devastating effects of facing such a decision."
No Easy Decision debuts December 28.
