Reality News: ‘The Bachelor’, ‘The Girls Next Door’

For Season 12 of The Bachelor, ABC will be straying far from the blue-collar image they tried last fall. (Maybe a different type of guy will end up producing a different result?) Say goodbye to bar owner Brad Womack and say hello to “global financier” Matt Grant!
Last night on Dance War, the audience got their first glimpse of Grant, a British businessman. In his interview with Drew Lachey, the 27-year-old offered up a few choice chiches. In addition to calling the candidates “25 smoking women”, he said it was “ridiculously hard” to send someone home every week. Of course, the handsome guy never said why he needed help finding someone to begin with.

Late Night War Ends in Violence
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, Cable, NBC, Gossip, Video,
Well after American Gladiators finished for the evening, when most people were thinking about getting to bed, the battle of the late night hosts began to heat up…again. Let’s re-cap.
Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert took exception to NBC host Conan O’Brien’s claim that O’Brien “made” Presidential contender Mike Huckabee. Conan responded on his show that he, O’Brien, actually made Colbert. Daily Show host Jon Stewart offered video evidence that in fact Stewart made O’Brien. Thus, the world was put to rights again.
Until a certain redhead (O’Brien) presented a photo depicting himself delivering both Colbert and Stewart, thus proving that he in fact made them both - and by extension, Huckabee. For those who missed it, this battle all came to head last night. Conan threatened to “kick some Comedy Central ass” and so, Stewart and Colbert showed up to give him exactly this opportunity. (You can see the video clip, after the jump.)

Sadly, there were very few moments from last night’s Super Bowl that I will remember in the weeks to come. (That is, of course, not including the wild game itself.) But here are five commercials that did give me a good chuckle:
Update: These (really) were not placed in any particular order.
1) The Doritos ‘Mouse Trap’ commercial

Paula Abdul’s Super Bowl Appearance

For those who didn’t catch Paula Abdul‘s Super Bowl pre-game appearance, here’s your chance:
Now I knew the performance was going to be pre-taped, but could the American Idol judge have at least bothered to sing? Isn’t that why the large microphone was placed there to begin with?
How can she continue preaching about something she doesn’t even practice?

The ‘Knight Rider’ Teaser
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Prime Time, Specials, NBC, Video,
So here it is, the teaser for the Knight Rider movie coming to NBC next month. I must say the network played it very smart. The incredibly short clip will either whet your appetite or make you wonder what crappy scenes were left out.
The “two-hour event” - which may also a serve as the pilot for a new fall series - stars Justin Bruening as Michael Knight’s son and Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as the voice of KITT. It will also include a David Hasselhoff appearance (woo hoo!). Be listening for the roar of the new Ford Mustang on Feb. 17th.

‘Star Trek’ Remastered for HD DVD
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Animation, Sci-Fi/Horror, DVD, HDTV, Video,
Highly original and ground-breaking in its day, Star Trek offered viewers a glimpse of the possible future. Now, it is the future…and Trek is offering viewers a glimpse of what the series might have been if it were made today.
In a new HD DVD set, season one of The Original Series is being released to the public with digitally enhanced footage. Here’s the problem: true Trekkies don’t want anything digitally remastered or updated. The perfection is in the purity. The exterior special effects features on TOS were updated and enhanced with CGI technology. In some scenes, entire ships were replaced by digital effects.
The new additions look great and may help re-introduce younger generations to this old favorite, but some die-hard Trekkies will no doubt be up in arms over any change, no matter how great-looking.

CNN Documentary Reveals Poor Journalism

Professional wrestling has long been the red-headed stepchild of both entertainment and sports - dismissed as “fake” for its predetermined outcomes and often criticized for its over-the-top personalities. So it comes as no surprise that when WWE superstar Chris Benoit killed his family and himself several months ago, pro-wrestling’s detractors saw their opening.
Since that day, speculation over the possible, albeit unlikely, link to those deaths and steroids has opened WWE to federal investigations as well as a firestorm of public/media scrutiny. Among the pieces supposedly “exposing” the steroid use of WWE superstars was CNN’s Death Grip: Inside Pro Wrestling, which aired this past week. In this broadcast, former WWE Champion John Cena was asked if he had ever used steroids. CNN showed his frank response as: “I can’t tell you that I haven’t, but you’ll never be able to prove that I have.”
But that’s not how Cena responded to the question. Join me after the jump for his full answer.
