Mark Wahlberg Unable to Laugh at SNL

UPDATE: Wahlberg is now reportedly set to appear on Saturday Night Live.
Although he created a show (Entourage) that makes fun of celebrities, Mark Wahlberg apparently doesn’t like being made fun of. At least he didn’t the way Saturday Night Live did it. When asked his thoughts on the recent Andy Samberg sketch (which can be seen above), the Max Payne star admitted he hasn’t even followed SNL in quite some time.

Watch Katie Holmes Sing and Dance on Eli Stone

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Prime Time, ABC, Video,
We’ve seen the flippy hair and we’ve seen the cabaret-esque poses, but we really didn’t know what to expect from Katie Holmes’ Eli Stone number until now.
In the following clip, Holmes’ character interrupts Eli’s jog with her rendition of “Hit Me with a Hot Note.” Preview her performance and let us know what you think. Does the Mad Money star have a future in musicals ahead of her? Or should singing and dancing be left to Tom Cruise’s last wife?
Katie’s guest appearance on Eli Stone is scheduled to air on October 21.

If you were too busy watching Grey’s Anatomy or CSI to realize there was a Saturday Night Live special on yesterday, you missed another great presidential debate sketch.
Although viewers were down a Tina Fey, we were up a guest appearance from Bill Murray and a return from Chris Parnell.

VH1’s unexpected reality hit Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew will return for a second season as soon as October 23. We giggled when Christopher Lloyd talked about the future of DirecTV for a commercial spot. We laughed when Kathy Bates and William Shatner joined the fray. We ogled Baywatch-era Pam Anderson tout the service for her spot. We fell over in hysterics when we saw the Scooby Doo advertisement. But now, DirecTV may have twisted the funny bone of some viewers a little too hard. Their latest ad, just another in a long string of past pop culture references, has inspired some pretty heated controversy.
The ads were drawing attention even before the campaign hit the fan. Using the same actors and scenes but different lines, the service has promoted itself as an alternative to cable by putting us once again back in our favorite movie moments - as if to prove that the second time around really can be better than the first with DirecTV. They’re funny, they’re clever and they’re working. Er…they were.

NBC’s Kath & Kim will premiere tonight at 8:30 pm EST. And though the new series featuring Selma Blair and Molly Shannon (a comedy duo who should be perfect together) is being touted as a “sitcom following a dysfunctional mother-daughter duo and their adventures in middle-class suburbia,” the reviewers are taking a decidedly less lighthearted stance. The Boston Herald called the series a “problem child,” while zap2it said the first two episodes were “pretty laugh-free.” This is not the sort of response a comedy featuring two such gifted actresses should receive.
The series was a huge hit in Australia, which pretty well guaranteed it would find a home on American shores eventually. NBC picked up the remake baton and cast Blair as Shannon’s spoiled, thick-as-a-brick daughter (though the two are actually separated by only eight years in age). Molly Shannon plays Kath, spandex-wearing and man-hunting, to Blair’s Kim, a celebrity-obsessed, would-be trophy wife.

Watch Shepherd’s Fight with Hasselbeck on The View

Although Sherri Shepherd was once known Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s conservative ally, the comedienne has been started to drift further away from her co-host politically.
On today’s episode of The View, the ladies questioned whether certain events should be dredged up in the presidential campaigns. Needless to say - they had very different opinions on the matter. (Things start really heating up around the 3:45 mark.)

Watch Saturday Night Live’s VP Debate Sketch

In the event you had better plans last night, here’s your chance to watch Saturday Night Live‘s take on the Vice-Presidential Debate.
As mentioned earlier, Queen Latifah made a special appearance as moderator Gwen Ifill yesterday. Stepping up to play Joe Biden was cast member Jason Sudeikis. (Sudeikis also continued with his George Bush portrayal later in the same show.) And, as expected, Tina Fey resumed her role as Sarah Palin.
Those of you still playing the “maverick” drinking game better get your six-pack ready:

Dancing with the Stars 7: Week 2 Loser

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Editorial, Features, Video,

Last night on Dancing with the Stars: Season 7, the remaining 11 couples took on either the Rumba or the Paso Doble. While one would normally expect to see better numbers in Week 2, most of the performers inexperienced declines.
When the points were totaled, Warren Sapp - who scored a 24 for his Paso - was the only person to see an improvement on Monday. But given that Brooke had scored a 26 last week, her 24 (also for the Paso) didn’t look so bad.
Of the four performers sitting in the under-20 point range, two hit new lows last yesterday: Kim (17) and Cloris (15). Meanwhile, the other two - Rocco (16) and Maurice (19) - still didn’t have much to brag about.

Obama and Biden React to SNL Impersonations

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Video,
So we already know how the McCain camp feels about Saturday Night Live‘s Palin sketches. (Answer: “Sexist.”) We also know what the vice-presidential candidate thought about Tina Fey’s work. (She claimed the first parody was “hilarious,” though she only watched it with the volume off.) But what do the Democrats think of their impersonations?
In a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight, Barack Obama and Joe Biden (alongside their wives) react to the SNL sketches. While they don’t specifically address the content of the spoofs, they do seem to take it all in stride.
