Quote of the Day: Ryan Gosling on His Famous Mickey Mouse Club Costars

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Kids, Music, Gossip, Video,
"It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realized that I wasn’t really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do. I remember one time they put four of us in a dance routine, but I was so off. I was on the end, so they just pushed the shot in closer on the other three guys to frame me out. I would just come in at the beginning of the show and then come back at the end, and occasionally I’d have a sketch here or there, but I didn’t end up working that much, which was disheartening."
-Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling on what it was like to be on the Mickey Mouse Club at the same time as Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. (Ryan can be seen singing with Justin and JC above.)

South Park Creators Apologize for Copying Original Content

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Animation, Comedy, Prime Time, Cable, News, Video,
Although South Park's creators are known for producing controversial content, they don't usually say sorry for it.
Late last week, Trey Parker and Matt Stone apologized to the writers of a CollegeHumor.com video after they accidentally copied original content. Although the episode ("Insheeption") incorporated several lines from a clip called "Inception Characters Don't Understand Inception," Stone and Parker said they didn't know what they had done.
In an attempt to do an Inception-based episode, Matt and Trey tried to watch the movie for themselves -- unfortunately, they struck out finding a theater showing or a copy of the film. That is when they came across the College Humor clip (which can be seen after the jump).

Emma Stone Pokes Fun at Her Nerd-Friendly Image

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, Late Night, NBC, Saturday Night Live, Video,
Emma Stone, or “that cute redhead the nerds like," offered up a low-key but solid Saturday Night Live performance over the weekend. Stone has been seen in Superbad, Zombieland and Easy A -- as her monologue pointed out -- and will play Spider-Man’s love interest in the upcoming reboot.
Stone, 21, handled the gig like a pro, effortlessly breezing through a monologue that helped her poke fun at her image as a nerd idol. Stone delivered both deadpan and quirky comedy, receiving strong support from the SNL cast throughout the episode.
View the entire monologue, one of the high points of the episode, in the clip above.

President Barack Obama to Appear on The Daily Show

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart | Mon - Thurs 11p / 10c
Barack Obama | ||||

The Daily Show has officially announced that President Barack Obama will become the first sitting president to appear on the series. The leader of the free world is scheduled to visit the late night talk show Wednesday, October 27.
Obama himself is a friend of the show -- he appeared via video conferencing only days before the 2008 presidential election (view that moment in the clip above).
The president's appearance is surely no coincidence. Comedy Central isn’t exactly a big news media outlet, but in its way the cable network is an active contributor to pop culture and the way people view the political landscape. Strongly left-oriented, Comedy Central’s audience is in Obama’s target Democratic and left-leaning undecided demographic … and the midterm elections are now less than a dozen days away.
Will you be tuning it to hear the President’s message?

MONDAY (10/25)
- Little People, Big World (TLC, 8 p.m.: "Matt has a large replica of Noah's Ark brought to the farm, despite Amy's protests." At least he'll have something to sleep in.
- Gossip Girl (CW, 9 p.m.): "Jenny returns to the Upper East Side when she gets a chance to meet Tim Gunn (appearing as himself)." Taylor Momsen together with Tim Gunn? This concerns me.
- The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 10 p.m.): "Mired in marital problems, NeNe looks to cheer herself up---through plastic surgery." So Kim slept with a woman and NeNe got a nose job. Big deal, call it a day, keep it moving.

Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Laughs

Night of Too Many Stars | Thursday, October 21, 2010

Stars like Tom Hanks, Betty White, David Spade, Maya Rudolph, Cedric the Entertainer, George Clooney, Jason Alexander, Zack Galifianakis, Drew Carey and the Geico gecko (to name just a few) crowded onto a single set to answer phones for Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education -- and they were just the in-between act. The cable network outdid itself on Thursday night, interspersing live phone segments with the pre-recorded, gala event held weeks ago in New York City.
Highlights from the pre-recorded theater event include the tuneful moment that reunited event host Jon Stewart with former Daily Show contributors Stephen Colbert and Steven Carrell. The latter two delivered a rousing song written for 2008 about Captain Sullenberger. The “Chocolate Rain” YouTube sensation made an appearance, and the song was so good even Jon Stewart was compelled to join in mid-chorus.

Team Coco Offering Live Streaming from Conan O’Brien Offices

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Late Night, Talk Shows, Cable, Video,
Although we are still over two weeks away from the official launch of Conan O’Brien’s new TBS show, the buzz is already building. To ramp up the excitement for the late-night program, Team Coco began 24 hours of live streaming from the show’s offices at 1 p.m. EST today.
What behind-the-scenes action could we possibly see from that camera focused on the stairwell of their “comedy bunker”? If you were watching at 6:00 p.m. EST, you would have caught a dancing Taco Bell mascot (with a dancing taco). Earlier in the afternoon, you would have been treated to an aerobics session straight from the ‘80s.
Conan kicks off on November 8.

President Barack Obama will appear on the December 8 episode of Mythbusters, a show dedicated to disproving movie myths and other urban legends.
The Discovery Channel is offering few tidbits about the presidential appearance, but they did say the episode includes this question: "Did Greek scientist Archimedes set fire to an invading Roman fleet using only mirrors and the reflected rays of the sun?"
The Obama appearance will help promote the White House’s current message of science education.

Barbara Billingsley, Famous TV Mom, Dies

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Comedy, ABC, CBS, News, Video,
Barbara Billingsley, one of TV's legends, has died. Billingsley was better known to TV audiences as June Cleaver, the mom on Leave it to Beaver. That classic TV sitcom ran on CBS in 1957, then on ABC until 1963.
“People still talk about it and write letters, telling how much they watch it today with their children and grandchildren,” said Billingsley several years after the show had been canceled. Though it was still very popular in 1963, the show called it quits after the sixth season because the two youngest stars, Jerry Mathers and Tony Dow, wanted to move on. “We knew we were making a good show, because it was so well-written,” Billingsley stated in the same interview.
