American Idol

American Idol’s is currently negotiating his contract, which could come with a pay hike that promotes him to one of the highest-paid hosting gigs in TV. Simon Cowell was the first to ink a deal for the ninth season of the show, with remaining regular cast members still in talks with FOX, Fremantle and 19 Entertainment.

The three companies jointly produce Idol (this helps explain why Idol has three times more promotion and product placement per episode than some shows see in an entire season), and Seacrest is getting further into the fold all the time. Reportedly, the reality TV mogul is working on a new series with 19 Entertainment and American Idol creator Simon Fuller. This could be the which has been Twittered about recently…or, it could be any one of the other umpteen TV gigs Seacrest has in the works.

DescriptionLast year, was facing change on a new network. This winter, the series will get new backdrop.

For the comedy’s ninth season, the program will freshen up with an entirely new focus. The day-to-day operations within Sacred Heart will be (mostly) replaced with classrooms and teachers. That’s right, Scrubs is going back to medical school.

“It’ll be a lot like Paper Chase as a comedy,” creator Bill Lawrence told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s going to be a different show. It’ll still be life-and-death stakes, but if the show is just Scrubs again in the hospital with a different person’s voiceover, it would be a disaster and people would be mad.”

Although there were will be a list of new cast members, two vets will anchor the show. John C. McGinley and Donald Faison will both appear as med school professors. Meanwhile, other favorites - including Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and Ken Jenkins - are slated to make guest appearances. The hospital will also be seen from time to time.

No premiere date has yet been announced for the midseason show.

After a brief recap of season one, showed Amy Juergens (Shailene Woodley) struggling to care for her newborn son while doing chores around the house and attending school. The teen mother is now living with just her mother Anne (played by Molly Ringwald), who will definitely be pregnant in this season. The actress was expecting twins before filming began, so there was no way to continue her story without including a new baby.

It was just serendipity that the second season of the show opened with the same theme as the first - pregnancy. But this time, it’s the mother and not the daughter who is expecting.

Joss is back with a vengeance, apparently Folks over at Dollhouse are already two weeks into plotting its next season, and creator Joss Whedon could care less about the major budget cut this time around.

“I just wanted to die of tiredness. About two hours after starting to talk to the writers about story, I was back with such a vengeance, and so energized and so pumped because we really understand the show now. We understand what works, and what didn’t work so well or what we weren’t so thrilled about. We don’t have the onus of trying to be a big hit sitting on our shoulders. We can just be ourselves. And so the stories we’re breaking are pure, and exciting, and everybody’s on-board in the room, and it’s never flowed better.”

Yoohoo—do you hear that, Fox?

“Really, just every meeting is like, ‘What’s the most fun we can have with this actor?’ about the whole cast. All I can say—‘cause I’m gonna be Mr. Un-Spoiler—is that we’re having a crazy amount of fun, and usually, that tends to translate onto the screen,” he tells EW.

Spencer Pratt and Heidi MontagYou may want to run for The Hills when you see Spencer and Heidi Pratt on , which launches tonight on NBC. The show, which aired in 2003 (and was subsequently canceled shortly thereafter) has been re-introduced to the schedule, evidently because there aren’t enough good ideas for reality TV anymore. Vote For the Worst is already backing the couple in their usual tongue-in-cheek way, and their reports from the jungles of Costa Rica are the most interesting aspect of the entire show.

The anti-American Idol site has some connection to the series, as Season 6 Idol contender is among the cast. But it’s not Malakar - or his hair - that’s drawn quick attention from the site, even before a single minute of the new season has been aired. According to VFTW, “if we like it, we’ll start voting for the worst as always.” And while nothing is official, they’re already leaning strongly toward MTV’s most famous celebrity pair.

Though the heiress found a friend in Season 1 winner Brittany Flinkinger, and subsequently in the UK version of the show, she’s apparently still on the hunt.

Lil’ Kim, Kathy Griffin and a handful of ’s celebrity pals will make guest appearances on the show, which will renew her quest to find a pal among a dozen or more male and female contenders. Last season, Paris’s quest began with makeovers, challenges and very quick eliminations.
