Wednesday Ratings: Country Experiencing Obama Fatigue

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, America’s Next Top Model, American Idol, Lost, Ratings,
Looks like President Obama wasn’t what viewers had in mind for sweeps. Last night’s umpteenth press conference was seen by 29% less people than the March 24th version. Although FOX was able to beat the other networks for its airing of Lie to Me, the strategic move was probably a moot point. American Idol would have given the network a win anyway.
8pm
- Lie to Me (7.9 million, 2.4/7 in 18-49) did the same as last week.
- NBC’s coverage of the presser (1.6/5) drew in 6.7 million.
- ABC’s political hour (1.6/5) attracted 6.1 million.
- Approximately 6 million watched the president on CBS (1.5/5).
- America’s Next Top Model (4 million, 1.8/6) remained steady.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Ratings,
Has the update novelty already worn off? Although 90210 helped spawn a reboot of Melrose Place, the teen drama - already renewed for another season - is starting to show signs of weakness. Yesterday’s episode drew in its smallest audience to date.
8pm
- American Idol (22.5 million, 7.9/22 in 18-49) was out of tune by 700,000.
- NCIS (16.3 million, 3.4/10) improved by 400,000.
- The Biggest Loser: Couples (9.4 million, 3.6/10) was up a tick.
- According to Jim (3.5 million, 1.0/3) slid by 200,000.
- Reaper (1.8 million, 0.7/2) dropped 700,000.

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Action, Comedy, Drama, Prime Time, Reality, Sci-Fi/Horror, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, 24, Dancing With The Stars, Heroes, House, Medium, Ratings,
If there ever was a time for fans to come out and support Chuck, it would have been last night. Unfortunately, the numbers for both NBC finales were basically flat from last week. (At least the network has already declared that Heroes will get a return.) Meanwhile, FOX beat out CBS in a tight race for the demos while ABC was in first with the viewers.
8pm
- Dancing with the Stars (19.1 million, 4.3/12 in 18-49) stumbled by 1.6 million.
- House (11.4 million, 4.5/12) did 3 million better than the previous Bones episode.
- The Big Bang Theory (3.4/10) had 9.3 million laughing; How I Met Your Mother (3.7/10) rounded up 8.9 million.
- Chuck (6.1 million, 2.3/6) did the same as before.
- Gossip Girl (2 million, 1.0/3) turned away 400,000.

If it hadn’t been the first official Sunday of sweeps, last night would have been considered a fairly uneventful. ABC’s lineup took the oh-so-important demos while CBS won a narrow contest with the viewers.

- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2.8/8) returned to 8.7 million.
- The Simpsons (5.9 million, 2.9/9) was down 600,000.
- Dateline (1.1/3) averaged 5.1 million over two hours.

At this point, no one-two combination could possibly help FOX’s Friday. The network’s recent attempt to pair Prison Break with Dollhouse resulted in dismal numbers.

- Wife Swap (4 million, 1.3/5) dropped 1.5 million.
- Howie Do It (3.3 million, 1.0/4) remained even.
- Prison Break (3.1 million, 1.0/4) let 300,000 escape.

After what seemed like months of repeats, ABC returned last night with (mostly) new episodes. The network took the 10:00 hour away from Southland and won the night’s demos. CBS, though, was first place with the viewers.

The closer Top Model gets to its finale, the bigger the curiosity factor grows. Cycle 12’s audience improved from last week’s numbers and even beat ABC’s 8:00 demos.
8pm
- Lie to Me (7.9 million, 2.3/7 in 18-49) didn’t do as well as last week’s Bones.
- Law & Order* (5.7 million, 1.2/4) did about the same.

ABC, apparently not feeling the love from Cupid, decided to try out another struggling series last night. Unfortunately, The Unusuals failed to deliver as well. Although the the program did just as well as it did last Wednesday, it didn’t improve despite a better lead-in.
8pm
- American Idol (8.0/22 in 18-49) had 23.2 million doing the Hustle.
- The Biggest Loser: Couples (9.3 million, 3.8/10) gained 200,000.
- The Big Bang Theory* (1.6/5) drew in 6 million; Two and a Half Men* (1.8/5) gathered 6.7 million.
- According to Jim (3.7 million, 1.0/3) fell by 800,000.

Attempts to give Bones more attention didn’t do much for either the show or the network. Despite decreased competition from CBS, the program pulled in smaller numbers than the normal slot holder. The series also declined from its last Thursday outing.

- Bones (8.4 million, 2.5/7) was down 3.4 million from House‘s numbers.

- Chuck (6.1 million, 2.3/6) did about the same.
- Gossip Girl (1.2/3) returned to 2.4 million.
